Assault

Damian's journey started well. The territory of Baron Brutus was only a remote village located quite far from the city. Therefore their journey now would definitely take several days. This was Damian's first long trip. He had never traveled that far before.

During this time, the two families who were far away were only often sent letters through couriers who usually went with a group of traders. They were escorted by knights to travel far away. However, even though it had been escorted by knights, the group still always ended up being a Deimheim meal. Not until half the group that managed to return.

Having met Deimheim once, Damian is not sure if he can return safely. His father's orders were like a death sentence to him. Being the third son in a noble family was indeed unpleasant. Even a real father doesn't care if Damian survives or not.

It was dark when finally Damian's entourage arrived at a large expanse of land in the middle of the forest. The place seemed suitable for overnight. The knights built their tents before dark, as well as preparing to light a bonfire to ward off evil spirits, whether it would be useful or not.

Not half their journey has been made. Damian was tired, though. Being in a horse carriage all day makes his body stiff. The steep dirt road continued to jerk at his waist until Damian's entire spine felt sore and uncomfortable.

After dinner with bread and jam, Damian decided to spend the night in a horse-drawn carriage. Although uncomfortable, but it was better than he had to sleep on hard and cold ground. In addition, Deimheim's shadow made him very uncomfortable. Being outside made Damian feel insecure.

The night came without feeling. Damian closed the entire window of his horse-drawn carriage tightly, leaving only a small lattice for air to enter. The young man lit a small lantern which he then hung on the ceiling. While reading some of the books he had brought from Castor's residence, the young man sharpened his hearing, being wary of any danger that might arise.

Out there, the sound of a campfire crackling was heard. The knights did not say much. They just talk about it, discuss the guard schedule and food supplies. After that it was quiet. Only the sound of dead-dead rustling in the wind and the crackling of burning wood colored the night.

Damian stuck his leg out on the seat and prepared to sleep. The night was not too late, but Damian was already tired of dying. He was a little sorry for not thinking of taking Cassie on that trip. At least he had friends chatting, or doing other fun things. Now Damian can only daydream, laugh until drowsiness.

The young man was almost asleep when he suddenly realized that the lantern in his carriage had gone out. The young man was lying in the darkness. Slowly, the young man woke up. The sound of the campfire has stopped. The wind and the rustle of the leaves vanished.

Damian got up in his carriage. He peered out of the window but all he could see was the pitch darkness. Damian's heart started to beat uneasily. I don't know why this made him feel uneasy. His premonition said that there would be a bad event. He hoped the knights would still be out there to protect him.

Fortunately Damian's prayer was answered. Suddenly he heard the sound of a sword being ejected from his scabbard. The soldiers are still there! They seemed to be watching for the arrival of an evil spirit that usually begins with such total darkness.

Damian won't lose either. Although he remained in the carriage, but the young man also pulled out his own sword just in case. The shadow of Deimheim's form again ambushed his memory, making Damian's heart beat again.

A boisterous sword rumble sounded out there. Damian could not see anything from inside the horse carriage. But the young man could hear the whole sound of the fight outside. Some knights groaned in pain, followed by the sound of broken bones or punctures in their bodies. Damian had no idea how many evil spirits had appeared. He stayed inside the horse carriage with his hands trembling, grasping his own sword.

Suddenly, a loud object hit the wall of his horse-drawn carriage. Damian swayed slowly as the impulse made the entire carriage body look good. The young man was holding on to the back of a chair when without warning, the door of his train slammed open.

Damian was shocked not to play. His sword immediately unsheathed forward, ready to fight against whatever was about to appear. But apparently the one who came was an old man who had a raucous voice.

“Please .. sa, I don't want to die,” the man's moans whom Damian recognizes as his coachman.

Damian lowered his sword and intended to pull the coachman into the carriage. But how surprised Damian when he realized the body of the coachman was half. In the dimness of the dark night, Damian faintly saw that the waist down of the coachman's body had disappeared!

With a slack, Damian also screamed loudly until he fell backward. A black creature with thorn feathers grabbed the rest of the coachman's body quickly, then flew away.

Damian. His sword slipped out of his hand and fell on the floor of the horse carriage. He tried to control himself again and grabbed his sword slowly. However, a pair of red eyes caught Damian's movement. The young man immediately realized that there was a figure of Deimheim who was now darting towards him with a gaping mouth wide, ready to destroy the horse carriage.

Damian didn't get away. The young man could only brandish his sword forward, hoping that the evil spirit could be injured with the sword thrust. Suddenly a silver arrow shot out from the side. The body of the evil spirit was thrown to the ground and then disappeared like smoke.

Other silver arrows shot back in all directions, killing the evil spirits that came to the place. Damian immediately recognized the attack. Kutzos. The Giyatsa came.

Relieved, Damian finally dared to get out of his carriage. The fight seems to be almost over. The last evil spirit died near the bonfire which was immediately scattered again once the whole of Deimheim was destroyed. Five knight corpses lay on the ground in a condition that was not intact. The other three appeared injured.

Luckily their horses were intact. At least their journey could still continue despite the many knights who died. Kutzo appeared with his gallant grey horse. The long-haired Giyatsa man got off his horse and started helping the survivors and gathered them near the campfire.
