The Black Iron Glory
Claude the Confused

Chapter 60

Claude the Confused

Claude lay on his bed and watched the little snow dog engage in a deadly battle with his old slippers. He had brought her back three days ago and Claude finally realized that old man Mokro was just talking about the dog's good points. However, he did not mention his most unique characteristic: it was his innate ability to separate houses.

No wonder Claude felt that the three snow dogs of the house were similar to the huskies of his previous life. In fact, they may be 'brothers of the same family'. What astonished Claude was how his little snow dog was not a coward like the husbands. Instead, he tends to get angry at others despite being only two months old based on his size.

The sandals on the ground belonged to Morssen. One day, Morssen was annoyed by a snow dog blocking his way while playing around, so he gave a side kick. Uh, kick is a strong word. It was just a push with the feet. . . But because of that, the snow dog started to hate Morssen and would always bite his shoes wherever he came back. The little one also bit down on poor Morssen's sandals to smash to pieces before completely straying from his hatred for Claude's father.

Almost everyone in the family other than Morssen liked the little man, excluding Arbeit, who still lived in Sir Fux's house. The snow dog was subjected to the affections of Mrs Ferd, Angelina and Bloweyk, as seen from the name they called.

Claude's mother called it Pluto, the way Claude named it. Mokro asks Claude what the snow dog's name was before his name was taken, and it's a name he got immediately. In his past life, the husky his boss had was also called Pluto, and he also had no idea why he used that name either.

The siblings are happy to see their new snow dog and Angelina asks him what his name is. When Claude tells him that it is called Pluto, he considers it an ugly name and decides to call it Snowflake, citing its snow-colored fur as the reason. Claude laughed and said that no male dog had such a feminine name, but he could do nothing about his sister's preference. Bloweyk on the other hand doesn't really care about the name and just calls it 'little puppy'.

The door to the loft opened a little. Angelina stuck out her head and asked, "Claude, is Snowflake here with you?"

"Get in, it's playing with slippers."

As he pushed the door open, the little snow dog rushed forward to greet him as he wagged his tail nonstop. The snow dog knows who treats him best and already puts Angelina at the top of the dog waitress list. The little girl immediately started playing with their little pet.

After about half an hour, their mother's voice rang from below, calling Angelina to sleep. So, Angelina took the snow dog and prepared to go down. Ever since Claude brought the sniffer dog home, his sister had him pick up a small wooden box and put a few pieces of torn linen cloth into it to use it as a snow dog bed. He then placed the box beside his little bed so that it could accompany him and Bloweyk all night.

Claude said, "Anna, don't hug Pluto to sleep. Tell Little Blowk the same thing. It's been torn apart by two blankets, one bed sheet and one pillow. If you keep doing it, Mom won't let us keep it anymore. , understand? "

The girl nodded in fear. "I know, Claude, I'm not gonna hug Snowflake to sleep. Tell my mom not to leave him, okay? It's still so small."

Claude waved his hand nonchalantly to signal her to come down. Leave those? Not likely. Although Dad, someone who likes dogs the most in this house, will not leave this little snow dog. Three days ago when Claude went to the dock with his new pet, Borkal said that one lardor snow dog could sell three or four thales in the prefectural capital. A snow dog like Pluto with pure white fur could even sell one whole golden crown.

That day, he gave each of his friends a turkey while bringing home one for his mother to make soup. He always loved chicken soup, but turkey soup tasted much better than regular chicken.

He gave the other rabbit to Pegg. That day, Eriksson wanted to ask them to stay for a barbecue party, but Claude refused to join because he wanted to bring the snow-sniffing dog home.

He asked Borkal why Supervisor Mokro would trade a snow dog for just one rabbit if it was so expensive. Borkal reasoned that the supervisor might need help from Morssen.

After the snow dog was brought home, it became the center of attention for his mother and siblings. When Claude told his father about the matter, Morssen laughed and said that the Mokro Supervisor from Poplar Ridge Farmstead was eyeing a permanent stall space on the open market. However, they still did not have enough money to buy such a space.

The open market is like a farmers market in Claude's past life. They were also one of Morssen's policies that won him a third management award.

After that, it grew to become the largest market in Whitestag and was also the largest place to buy or sell agricultural goods. The income from the rent collected from the place was also decent. When Morssen was appointed chief secretary of the city, he called for the expansion of the open market and diversifying the kiosk space into a temporary and long-term space. Long-term kiosk spaces are rented for a period of one to three years while temporary spaces can only be rented for one or two days to a month.

Claude no longer bothered to ask. It was clear that Mokro was unable to reach Morssen, so he used an expensive snow dog to build the relationship. Whether Claude gave the rabbit in return or not, Mokro would still give him one snow dog. While swapping a snow dog for a hunting catch sounds good on the surface, the difference in value of the two is obvious to anyone.

Claude did not care about whether Morko had noticed the stall room from the start. But since Morssen already knew about it, he would help if he wanted to and even receive another gift from Morko in return. It would also not be a problem if Mokro was unwilling to help, as it was technically a trade between Claude and Mokro. Even if the value of the rabbit could not be compared to that snow dog, Mokro had gone through the trade willingly. Claude did not force him to do so, nor did he want to return the snow dog.

A month-long riding class held at the school ended. The afternoon sessions at school are back to normal and the students will not be able to choose whether they want to attend class or not and cannot go home early as before. They could only rest for the last day of the week, so they had to consider the distance of the place they wanted to visit.

Eriksson's little boat is complete. All it takes is painting and drying. It should be seaworthy in ten more days or so. At that time, the four of them can sail to Lake Balinga for fishing during the last day of the week. Eriksson also said that the wetlands near the lake have many waterbirds like ducks and*****, making the place a good place to hunt.

Perhaps because of his adventures on Egret and the days he spent hunting turkeys and rabbits after his return, Claude felt that a peaceful life no longer suited him. Ever since his father told him about his plans for the future, Claude found himself looking forward to his departure to Nubissia two years later, despite the fact that he went there to enlist in the military. At the very least, his desire to explore and experience this new world could be fulfilled.

There are still two years of waiting, yes. . . I can only start planning my trip to Nubissia after I graduate. . . Claude sighed before starting to play around with the fish bone dagger in his hand.

Daggers, pendant-shaped wooden plaques and fish-shaped pen holders are three magical items Claude bought from Wakri's shop. They spent a total of one thale. But no matter what Claude did, he was unable to verify if it was truly a magical item. Claude even suspected that his eyes were deceiving him when he saw the light emanating from those objects.

Eriksson confidently said that the wooden plaque was something used to mark rooms in inns and cabin cabins. Claude thought the same thing when he washed it, but it didn't seem right to him. If it was really a door plaque, it should have some sort of number engraved on it.

But after carefully examining the plaque, Claude discovered that it was not made of wood, but rather a type of stone like wood. They looked like the kind of fake jade plastic ornaments that adorned some carpets in his past, light yet tough with a smooth jade texture. The plaque appears to have been polished before, given a smooth surface, and on its back is a hexagram carving.

Claude felt that if there were any of his magical items, the plaque should be it. But no matter how hard he tried to use his mental strength, he saw no changes to the plaque at all, much to his disappointment. It seemed that the strength of his mental strength did not allow him to judge whether the plaque was really a magical object.

As for the fish bone dagger, Claude tried many ways to test it. He even considered throwing it into the furnace to melt it down to see what would happen once. After seeing the mithril daggers for sale in Hans' shop, he was almost certain that his bone dagger was a normal mithril dagger whose quality was even inferior to the daggers sold at Hans's.

It is not sharp and does not cut metals like butter. There was also no poison sealed in his blade. He gave one of the rabbits he caught, but the rabbit survived afterwards. He also did not feel any physical strength or drive when he held the dagger in his hand. Had I not been for the faded, dark light she saw in her dagger as she looked through the shelves with her mental strength focused, she said, he won't be able to resist the urge to throw a dagger into Mike's furnace at Mike's burner on Big Hammer to free himself of trouble.

He had already dismantled whatever parts he could. He removed the hilt of the fish bone from his blade and saw nothing strange about it.

Claude even considered tying the item with blood. After making a cut on his finger, he squeezed the blood out on the three items and saw nothing but throbbing pain from his wound. It was then that he began to understand that he was in a western magical fantasy world rather than an eastern themed xianxia novel.

After sighing, he returned the dagger into the drawer. He daydreamed for a while, not feeling the slightest desire to sleep.

Claude looked at the two thick diaries of dictionaries inside the drawer. After some thought, he picked up the one marked as the first volume, turned on the oil lamp on his desk, and prepared to read it like he was going to a biography. Maybe he'll sleep better after reading.
