Carlo raised his face, and stared fixedly at Fabiola. She missed him so much all this time. Life is apparently still on the good side, although now he has to release Miabella for a period of time that is out of date.
"So, that story wasn't just a joke?" The curiosity of the truth of everything that Grigori spoke, he could now confirm.
"Grigori was your late father's loyal advisor, son. His age was young when he was serving the Red Wolf Clan, but Grigori had an extraordinary mindset and perspective. That's why your father made him a counselor and confidant" Fabiola said. The woman had a pale face. However, it can be ascertained that she used to be a very beautiful person.
"Is it true that I have two brothers?" ask Carlo again.
"Yes." Yeah." Fabiola nodded confidently. "Your two sisters are identical twins named Alexei and Liev. Their age was small at the time. I couldn't save them much less get them both out of the mansion." Fabiola. Tears poured down, then fell on the back of his hand. The pain of a mother's heart, has not been treated even until decades have passed.
"Every night I am haunted by the sound of the screams of the two of them, as Viktor and his men slaughter all who serve your father. Alexei and Liev .. jeez .. they are still very small ...." Fabiola. Not long after, the sobbing turned into a cry of pain that was so heartbreaking.
Seeing the heartbreaking scene before his eyes, Carlo's feelings rumbled. One and two reasons he had been given to be the man's stock, in carrying out the duties for which he was responsible. "Then, where's Mom been all this time?"
Hearing such a question earlier, Fabiola then stopped his cries. He wiped away the remains of tears that drenched his cheeks. The woman with the same eye color as the Miabella, then looked at meu to the new son she could touch again after so many decades had passed. "I hid in Italy, in one of the monasteries of the church in Milan. The place you used to visit with Miranda and your friends" she explained.
"Really?" Carlo squinted, hiding disbelief at the mother's answer. "That means you've always seen me, Mom?"
Fabiola nodded slowly. "Miranda told me the schedule every time she would bring her children to church. I saw you silently from a distance" Fabiola explained.
"Why didn't Mom come and greet me? Is that too dangerous?" Carlo stood up and looked riled up. A moment later, the handsome man turned his attention to Miranda who had only been listening. "You never told me the truth, Miranda, either" he said disappointedly. He wanted a reasonable explanation. Miranda did not answer. The woman only hinted with her eyes, so that Carlo would focus more on talking to his mother.
"I asked Miranda to keep her mouth shut. Everything is going as usual. I was satisfied just by looking at you from a distance. At least, I see you're healthy and growing tall. You're also very handsome, son." Fabiola smiled bitterly. "I began to feel uneasy, when Miranda said that you were taken to Monaco by Mr. D'Angelo. My longing feelings are getting hotter, and I don't know if I can see you again or not. That's why, I asked Miranda to give me all the things I used to put in your clothes" Fabiola said in a very soft tone.
Carlo could be heard breathing deeply while sitting on the edge of the bed. Occasionally, the dark-haired man rubbed the nape of his head. It is body language that he often does, if he is uncomfortable.
"I'll tell you something." Fabiola returned to his voice after being silent for a while.
"About what?" ask Carlo.
Fabiola did not answer immediately. His shadow was set on decades ago, one very gripping night. At that moment, it was raining so hard. Fabiola walked alone, while continuing to protect the baby in his carrier to stay comfortable. After a long walk down the quiet streets of Milan, he finally arrived in front of a magnificent building with a towering high gate.
Initially, Fabiola was just standing outside the gate. However, before long two big-looking men came to him. "I am Fabiola Volkov. Wife of Red Wolf Clan chairman Nikolai Volkov. Please allow me to meet with Mr. Moriarty, "he asked expectantly.
The two guards carrying their umbrellas looked at each other. The gaze of one of them was then fixed on something Fabiola was hiding behind his expensive clothes. "What are you hiding, ma'am?" ask the man in a speech that sounds scary, for unusual people living in the mafia world.
Carefully, Fabiola opened the blazer she was wearing to hide her sleeping baby. He was not disturbed at all, even though his mother brought him in a state of heavy rain.
"A baby?" muttered one of them. He closed his umbrella, then slipped it between the gaps of the gate. "Wear this while we report first to Mr. Moriarty" he said. Although their stature and facial features look terrible, but there is still a conscience stored in the two guards.
Shortly after, the guard who had entered to report back. Without saying much, he opened the gate and invited Fabiola to enter.
Fabiola was able to breathe with relief, as his feet began to climb the courtyard of the residence of the head of the Moriarty Clan. He knew that by coming there, he and the baby were sure to be in a safe place. Moreover, when he saw the sturdy figure that was already standing in the doorway.
He is a handsome Italian man with dark eyes with black hair that is neatly combed even though he was wearing a sleeping kimono. Men with shaved beards are regular and very well groomed. He looked at Fabiola who had been standing before him. "Fabiola," said the man with a gentle smile.
"Alessandro," replied Fabiola with a shivering body.
"Let's go in and warm yourself up" invited the man who is none other than the father of two brothers Vincenzo and Silvio Moriarty. The man was also the uncle of Adriano D'Angelo, the famous Tigre Nero chairman.
After being inside Alessandro's luxurious residence, Fabiola immediately pulled out the baby he had been hiding behind a blazer. He was wearing a blanket given to him by a servant.
"Make a warm drink and also prepare the guest room," Alessandro said in his authoritative style. After that, he invited Fabiola to sit down. However, the woman refused on the grounds that her clothes were wet. Fabiola stood up, looking occasionally at his sleeping baby on the couch.
"What's his name?" alessandro asked, staring for a moment at the sleeping baby boy.
"Karl," replied Fabiola quietly.
"What's going on?" ask the man again as he moved, then approached Fabiola who was still standing nailed not far from him.
Fabiola bowed, then cried. He sobbed bitterly while recounting the terrible events experienced by his family. "I don't know who else to ask for protection. The only thing on my mind in this escape is you, Alessandro. I hope you're willing to give my son a sense of security, at least."
Alessandro was silent for a moment. The man full of charisma seemed to be thinking before he made his decision. "alright. I only have one way for you" he replied later. He turned his eyes back to the baby on the sofa.
"First, bring your baby to the halfway house that is on the outskirts of Milan," he said. "You don't have to worry. There he'll be well cared for by my employee Miranda."
"Then what about me?" Fabiola still looks troubled.
"Come to the church, which is about five hundred meters from the halfway house. I'll talk to the priest there. You can stay in the convent. I guarantee no one will recognize you" Alessandro advised. "One more thing, change your son's name to Carlo. While you are free to choose any name, to disguise your true identity," Alessandro again suggested.
"Tomorrow, I'll have one of my men take you there. I'm sorry, Fabiola. You can't stay here, because I don't want my two sons to ask you so many questions about you" said the man again with a still calm and dignified look.
"It's okay. I can understand that" Fabiola said softly.
"Thank you for understanding. After all, I used to love you so much" Alessandro said softly.
Unbeknownst to them, a blue-eyed young man had eavesdropped on the conversation from behind the walls of the room. "Mr Adriano, why haven't you slept?" scold a servant to him.
