The Bodyguard's
Hidden Secrets

Heavy gasps slid from Carlo's thin moustached lips. The head of the Red Wolf Clan was stuck for a while, after watching the recording until it was finished.

"It's amazing." Adriano's heavy voice broke the silence among the men in the workspace. "Roderyk Lenkov's. He must be a very tough and brave figure" he said again, turning his eyes to Carlo, who was still silent.

"Do you think he had anything to do with Viktor Drozdov?" The question was addressed to Grigori and Ivan. Likewise with eyes that lead straight to the two middle-aged men earlier.

"It is possible, my lord. However, it must be investigated in advance the relationship between the two of them. We cannot indiscriminately make accusations without strong evidence" Grigori said.

"What Grigori said is true. It's very interesting. I remember when I had to uncover the case of Matteo de Luca's death. A riddle that makes me feel challenged." Adriano smiled with satisfaction as he looked at Coco.

"It was a very remarkable youth experience, Amico. I'll never forget it. Croatia, England, Serbia ...." Coco laughed crisply while shaking her head slowly. Adriano responded with a pat on the shoulders of the father of three children.

"Do you both have any interest in getting back to playing puzzles with me?" bargain Carlo with meaningful eyes to Adriano and Coco.

The two middle-aged men did not immediately reply. They looked at each other for a moment, then both turned their attention to the head of the Red Wolf Clan. In unison, the men who had gray hair on them shook their heads and said, "No!" both of them with a smile.

"I promised Francy I wouldn't involve myself in anything that smells of a black world. We have lived a very normal life in Rome. My household will be at stake if it breaks that promise. I'm too old to find a new wife" said Coco, who ended up laughing. Adriano and Grigori were also laughing. Ivan was confused because he did not understand what Coco said.

"Yes, so did Ricci. Right now, my life and Mia are already very calm. We want to spend the old days without any bloody games" Adriano said.

"However, in reality your energy is still very strong, Father-in-law," Carlo argued.

"Ah of course. If I don't have any more energy, then what is the fate of Mia" Adriano chuckled. His words were greeted with laughter by Coco. Unlike the Grigori who can only scratch the forehead, because the man decided to live single.

After joking for a while, the five men returned to a serious discussion. For this time, Coco was confused because Carlo and the others spoke Russian.

"Can you connect me with Boris and Fyodor Vasiliev, Grigori?" pinta Carlo after they negotiated.

"That's not hard, my lord. When do you want to schedule a meeting with them?" asked Grigori politely.

"Fastly. What if tomorrow?" bargain Carlo. "I must immediately resolve this matter before it drags on. After all, Miabella's safety is also in my full responsibility. I will not allow my father-in-law to take back my wife by force" Carlo said, turning to Adriano.

"Yes, you're right. Take the challenge to minimize the big risks that will destroy you in the future. Someone who becomes my son-in-law, must be a great and brave man. I know you can do it, Karl." Adriano patted Carlo's arm. After that, he turned his attention to Coco. Adriano gestured for Coco to follow him out of the study earlier.

......................

"So, what's the matter that you're asking to meet suddenly like this?" ask Boris to open the conversation.

"Mr Karl wants to talk about something about Roderyk Lenkov. I'm sure if you know the man" said Grigori with great authority, but still look polite.

"Roderyk Lenkov? Who is he, Dad?" asked Fyodor looking fixedly at Boris who at that moment seemed to be thinking about something.

"Roderyk was close friends with my father. They also have another friend named Piotr Rylov" Carlo said. What he said just now, seems to have helped restore Boris's memory.

"Ah yes! I remember now." Boris smiled widely, making Fyodor look very curious. "I've met Roderyk and Piotr. The two were close friends of Nikolai. However, shortly after the fanfare about perestroika and glasnost's policies, I never again met with Piotr. While Roderyk had sat in the parliamentary seat for some period, before the collapse of the Soviet Union" Boris explained.

"Isn't he anti-government?" chirps Carlo.

"How do you know that, son?" Boris asked with eyes full of search.

"Later we'll talk about it" Carlo replied. He thought that no one knew about the crime of Roderyk, who had massacred Piotr and the other three businessmen at secret meetings in the '80s.

"After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Roderyk decided to move and settle in Germany. Either he's still there or he's not, because he's never heard from him again." Boris explained again.

While Carlo and Grigori were just looking at each other with meaningful gazes. However, they did not show a too conspicuous attitude in front of the father and son earlier.

"What happened to Roderyk Lenkov? If you want, then I can find information about him." Fyodor who has been listening since, now comes to voice.

"I happened to find a diary belonging to my late father. There he told me about his two best friends when they were both studying in military school. I was just curious" Carlo replied with a charming smile that looked very reassuring.

"Isn't the late Mr. Nikolai Volkov's best friend twofold, then why are you only focused on Roderyk Lenkov?" Fyodor's question just now, it is felt increasingly pursed various speculations that milling in his mind. He hoped there would be another answer from Carlo, other than something that felt like a safe way to cover the big secret behind it all.

"I've also found out about Piotr. But he is not in the political world. It is different with Roderyk. That's why I asked you. Who knows between the two of you who know where he is at the moment" Carlo calmly added.

“As I said earlier, I know from the news among fellow former lawmakers that Redoryk is now living in Germany. But I also don't know the truth. He seemed to disappear since his communist party lost a landslide in the election a few years ago,” said Boris.

“Why are you suddenly interested in the figure of your late father's friend, Mr Karl?” asked Fyodor who seemed dissatisfied with Carlo's answer.

“Because I had a feeling that he was involved in a bloody incident, when Viktor slaughtered my father and two brothers,” Carlo replied.
