THE CHOICE IN MY LIFE

THE CHOICE IN MY LIFE
SECTION 69

“Excuse me, Mr. Erwin.” Sapa Gilang after he knocked on his middle-aged leadership room,

“Please Gilang.” Mr. Erwin.

“Sorry, Sir. I want to ask you something.”

“Please.”

“Then, I have heard from Toni, if my name was ever included in the nomination of the recipient of the promotion of this position in the company.”

“It's true.” Erwin replied casually.

“But, sir, why yesterday my name was not listed?”

“Do you still not know the reason?”

“What about Mr Rio? Because I have a personal with Mr Rio?”

“Do you have any personal problems with Mr Rio?” Mr. Erwin straightened his seat and seriously listened to Gilang.

“Oh . . . No, Sir. Not a serious problem. So if not for Mr Rio, then what is my mistake?”

“Ok, I will explain. Actually I do not want to reveal this, but since you have already asked, then I will explain.”

Gilang prepared his ears to catch the explanation that the 51-year-old man would give.

“Honestly, you used to have a good performance after a few months of your marriage, but after that do you never feel if your work is getting backwards? Many reports are neglected, all your work is on the verge of deadline, so I have been asked by Mr. Raka to face because of frequent reports of delays. Because the data from the marketing department was late, my team work was also hampered. Do you still think you deserve a promotion?”

Gilang fell silent to the explanation that felt reasonable even though it hurt his pride because he was blamed for the failure of the whole team.

“Not to mention your case with that intern.”

“I have nothing to do, Sir, with Dera.”

“You are as hard as you deny, after all everything has been done. You get caught kissing a woman who's not your wife in this office. And your status is still married. How do other employees view management giving you a promotion, Gilang?”

“I'm sorry, Sir.”

“Good. Now you know your mistake. Please get out of my room and start working well if you want to get a promotion for the next two years.”

“Call?” greet Tia as she crosses paths with her ex-husband.

“Tia.” Gilang lifted his face and gave his smile.

“What are you doing in this room? It's a break, get some rest. Before this hour is up.”

“I have a little business with Mr. Erwin.”

“Have you finished your business with Mr Erwin?”

“Already. I'm done meeting with Mr. Erwin.”

“Alright, it's my turn to meet him.”

“Wait, Tia!” Gilang held Tia by holding her hand.

“Let go of my hand, Gilang!” tia's orders with a stifled voice.

“I'm devastated today, I need you, Tia. I need a place to lean. I . . I miss you so much.”

Tia let go of Gilang's grasp forcefully, “That's no longer my business, Gilang. You're not who I am.” Tia prepared to leave Gilang.

“I've parted ways with Dera, can you come back to me, Tia?” pinta Gilang was desperate. Gilang dared to express his heart because the room was empty, all employees were in the office.

“You didn't lose your mind right because you lost the opportunity to rise?”

“You know?”

“Of course I know. I am also the manager of this company. And I belong to the management that decides who is entitled to ride.”

“Did you make me fail to get that promotion, Tia?”

“Before you ask, it is better to think first. You're not under my leadership, I know how you perform. The one who has the right to judge you is Mr. Erwin, not me!” tia was clear.

“I'm sorry, I. I think I'm in a bad state of mind.”

“Healthy up your mind first, and clear your mind of prejudice.” Tia left Gilang who was still standing upright in his place.
