The Exchanged Bride

The Exchanged Bride
Special Episode - Promise

The next morning, Haira falls asleep next to Kania with all the photos neatly arranged in her clippings. Apparently, coffee was not able to withstand his sleepiness, until at midnight, he was asleep in his sleep.

The alarm went off as a sign that it was morning. Haira opened her eyes, she looked to the side and it turned out that Kania was still sleeping. He turned off the alarm, then woke up Kania.

Kania woke up from her sleep with a sweet smile. He looked at Haira who was currently folding the blankets they were wearing.

With Haira's help, Kania cleans up and performs congregational prayers with Aiden and Rika's doctor.

After that, they went to the garden behind the house. The morning air was still very cold, so Haira put on a thick jacket, socks, and headgear for Kania.

He stood behind Kania who was sitting in a wheelchair. Because the position of the house is on the plateau, their view is not covered anything so freely see the sunrise.

A few minutes later, the sun began to appear. The seconds of sunrise were clearly visible at this time. The radiance is very beautiful even though it dazzles the eyes.

"Look, Kania! That's so beautiful!" Haira pointed at the sun that started to rise upwards.

"Yes, it's really beautiful" Kania said in a soft voice.

"I've never seen a sunrise like this either. Livestock are beautiful."

"Haira, will you promise me one thing?" asked Kania in a voice that was like stammering.

"Promise what?"

"Never make me a sad memory. Make me a happy memory in your life." Kania held Haira's hand which was still holding the back of her wheelchair.

Haira ingi turned to face Kania. He knelt down so that his body was now aligned with Kania's body. "I promise." Haira nodded with a smile, but with teary eyes.

"If you don't mind, will you hug me?"

Kania rubbed Haira's back slowly. "Please promise to be happy. Remember me for the rest of your life as a memory that makes you happy. Haira I love you so much."

"I love you too, Brother."

Right after Haira said the sentence, Kania's hand was stretched limp down, no more back strokes that Haira felt.

Haira let go of her embrace as she felt Kania's already stiff body. Kania's eyes have closed.

Gently, Haira rubbed Kania's cheeks. "Kania, wake up, why sleep again?" ask her with a hoarse and vibrating voice.

There's no answer. "Kania, bolong." Now Haira's eyes are teary.

Still no answer. Slowly he checked Kania's pulse and breathing. And as it turns out, Kania is not breathing and she does not feel Kania's pulse. Kania is gone forever.

Haira kissed Kania's forehead, cheeks and hands. "I promise, Kania, I promise."

Aiden and Rika arrive after seeing Haira crying while sitting in front of Kania's wheelchair.

They were shocked to see that Kania was gone for good. They cry seeing this too. Rika's doctor calls her neighbor to come help lift Kania into the house.

"Hahaira!" Aiden held onto Haira's shoulder which was still sitting and stared down. His body shook, but he made no sound of crying.

"I'm sorry, I should have told you in the first place that,,,,,"

"Does the doctor who handled it have sentenced him to not be up to a week old?" Haira raised her face while wiping her tears. He stood facing Aiden blankly.
