The Fill - In Boyfriend

The Fill - In Boyfriend
Episode 22

"That's great. If he tries, he cares. "

"You think so?" Maybe I'm not ready to give up on the relationship with my brother. Hearing that she might care more than I thought made me happy.

Yes, I do. He leaned against his hand and stared into the sea and I watched some waves hit the shore. “I feel I'm being selfish tonight. I really need to take you home. ”

It's new, like, eight o'clock.

He raised one side of his mouth with a half smile. “And shouldn't that little High School student go to bed soon?”

I laugh. “First of all, tomorrow there is no school. Secondly, you are also in high school and we graduate in four weeks. By the way, why is your boyfriend throwing a graduation party so soon? "

“I'm sure everyone is planning their party at the end of the month and he wants to be first and best. Plus he might go somewhere foreign and exotic once he graduates. "

"Good."

And she's not my girlfriend. He leaned forward and took off his shoes. “It was full of sand,” he explained as he threw it away and threw it aside.

A print of his hand from where he was leaning was imprinted in the sand between us. I made a line around it then put my hand in it.

"Your fingers are long" he said, seeing my fingertips almost reach the top of the mold.

“I do. But the bottom of your palm is missing from this trail. "

I guess not. He raised his hand and nodded to my hand.

I pressed my hand against his hand, aligning our palms. The top of my fingers barely reached his first joint.

“I guess you were right,” he said. Our hands stayed clenched for a few breaths. You have sand in your hands. He grabbed my wrist and began to wipe it gently.

My phone rang, making me jump. I left it in my pocket.

He let go of my hand. “Do you not want to check that?”

"Not really."

What if your parents?

I pulled out my phone to see Bradley's name flashing on the screen. Hayden and I stared at him until it stopped ringing.

Still decisive? he asked after a moment of silence.

I shrugged my shoulders.

He moved his finger, gesturing for me to hand my phone to him.

“You didn't call him, did you?” I gave him my phone.

"Of course not." He opened my text message, entered a number and sent a text message. Then he returned the phone to me. I read the message.

I decided that Bradley was not good for me. I don't need to talk to him anymore. She did dump me at prom, and left me alone in the parking lot to find my own way home. Plus he's too old for me.

“To whom did you send this?”

Just as I asked, the phone rang. He pulled it out, looked at the screen, then typed something, and put it back in his pocket. He nodded his head at my phone as it rang.

You're very smart. I totally agree. I'm glad you made the right decision. ~ H (aka FIB)

I laugh. “You think so, huh?”

I pushed his shoulder. "I think it might be his sister."

“Yuck. It's even worse. ”

I smile. "Well, if you're going to decide something for me, then I'm going to decide something for you."

Okay, that's fair. What verdict? "

You know what I'm gonna say.

He doesn't deny it.

“You deserve better. He's really cheating on you with your best friend. You have to let go of both. .. forever."

As if she felt we were talking about her, I heard her voice calling out. "Hayden's? Are you back here? ” And without thinking twice, I launched myself to her. I only intended to jump onto his lap, but the momentum I sent him to his back, I landed on it.

“Um. . . hi, ”he said while looking at me.

"Hi." His eyes were incredible from near the crystal blue.

Eve's voice was louder now, right around the rock, less than three seconds since we found us.

He reached out and held my face in his hand. He pulled me towards him, the desire in his eyes showed his intention.

"Don't do it unless you mean it" I whispered, a few inches from her lips. I meant to joke, but it sounded serious and serious.

He immediately stopped, his eyes turning from wanting to worrying. He looked over and kissed me on the cheek instead. I am disappointed and relieved. I remind myself what we really do. If this doesn't make Eve jealous, no one will.

CHAPTER 15

"Oh," I heard Eve gasp. "Sorry."

We sat as if we were caught.

Hayden rubbed his hair, brushed the sand and completely messed up my hairdressing job. “Hai, Eve. Do you need anything? ”

"No. I mean, yeah, um, Spencer's looking for you. ”

Hayden's eyes sparkled. "Spencer is here?"

“He just arrived. I told him you were coming. "

Hayden jumped to his feet and reached out to help me. He pulled me so hard that I almost fell down again. Then she left, looking back once to make sure I followed. I tried, but he moved fast.

“They really bromance,” Eve said, and I realized she was following me. Well, I'm sure you already know that.

I've never met him.

"no? They are basically the same people. Although Spencer was a little overreacting to Hayden's routine that went with the flow. "

I saw Hayden hugging a man and they patted each other on the back several times before parting ways. I could hear their laughter from the moment I slowed to a crawl about thirty feet away.

“He wants you to meet him,” Eve said, giving me a little boost.

“Oh. Fine." I really didn't want Hayden to have to spread this lie to people he really cared about, but with Eve standing there, I felt compelled to do it. I walked forward until I stood beside Hayden. For the first time I could clearly see Spencer's face dark, almost black eyes in this lighting and I almost took a step back. I know him. Well, not really. She went on a date with Laney once two years ago and I have doubled. The only reason I remember him is because he was a real jerk, cruel to her throughout the date and then tried to make out with her when it was all over.
