And I've caught some. But now the others were riding horses while Claire and I were lying on our board, side by side, hands connected together so we wouldn't stay away from each other.
“You look quiet. You okay?"
"I'm good."
"Are you having fun?" she asked.
“Ya, I actually.”
Don't be too surprised.
I laugh. "Well, I'm not used to being the worst at something, so that's my only complaint. Well, that and my original points are completely valid: cold water, salt in my hair, and— ”
“Sand everywhere. I know." He smiled at me.
“I'm impressed, Claire. You're very kind. And you taught Jules, right? ”
He's nodding.
“You did a good job. He's good too. "
He squeezed my hand. “Should we catch the others?”
As he asked, Jules paddled. “Did you see me driving that one? My longest. "
I sat on my board and Claire followed. We missed. My gaze found Tyler, who was riding the waves right now. “Did you see the trick he just did? How to find a surfer, Claire. ”
"I didn't even know he was surfing until after prom."
“And her date Claire, Gia,” says Jules.
“Um. . . I know."
“Just you've been teasing her all day. I think I should remind you. "
"What?"
“Jules,” says Claire. "Stop. It's okay."
I turned my eyes to her now because "it's nothing" doesn't even come close to "she isn't." "I've never tried it, Claire, I promise."
“I know, Gia. You're just friendly. Seriously, it's nothing. "
Jules gave me a view like, This is something, and I wonder if this is something they talked about before. I tease their guy. I never intentionally teased their man.
“Come surfing,” says Claire. This one's mine. And just like that, he stopped by and caught the wave, leaving Jules and me alone.
Why would you do that? I asked.
"Do what?"
"You know what. Why are you lying about me not inviting you to places and now accusing me of flirting with someone else's date? "
"It's time to stop pretending to be innocent and admit the things you do. You teased Logan when you found out he liked it. Leave Tyler alone. ”
He looked back and caught the next wave.
I try not to hate him but he makes it very difficult.
As we finished the day, paddled to the beach with our boards, and said goodbye to Uncle Matt, I saw Bec on the beach with his friends. I grimaced. It was the closest beach to where we lived, so it was not strange to see people I knew. I immediately scanned the area to make sure Hayden wasn't with him. She don't. It relaxes me a little, but I'm still afraid my friends will recognize Bec from the prom. I've been on their bad side today with the temptation that it should be. I don't need to add it.
"Very alert" said Jules, walking behind me.
I tried to steer our group in a large circle around Bec and his friends, but the fastest path to our belongings was the one heading right next to them. My attempts to go to the right only resulted in them all surpassing me by staying on track. When I caught up again, I noticed that Garrett, who was carrying his surfboard and Jules, had slowed down to almost a stop.
“I didn't know they let you out in the sun,” he said. Jules laughs.
Bec met my eyes, but then looked back at Garrett. I don't know you know how to talk. I hope he won't scold her. It just makes things worse.
Jules took a step forward, like she was about to leave, but her legs were dragged in the sand and kicked a torrent of dirt onto the group. They all jumped to their feet, Bec sweeping his face. "Hey!"
"Ups, sorry," said Jules, his tone proving that he's not right.
“Come, friends,” I said. "Leave them alone."
"Yes, listen to your leader," said a girl behind Bec, dripping with sarcasm.
This comment is wrong. Showing my status only makes Jules more ruthless. He put his arm around my neck. “Because obviously you all have never been to the beach before, our leader would like to share some rules with you, starting with the appropriate beach outfits. Right, Gia? ”
"No. I wouldn't have. " I ducked out from under his arm. “You can do what you want.”
Bec smirked at me. “We don't know you the owner of that beach, but thank you for giving us permission to do what we want.”
Jules looked at Bec loudly, and just when I thought she would reply to another malicious comment, she said, "You look familiar."
My heart stopped when Bec's sharp gaze met mine again. He'll tell. I could see it from the way his dark-colored lips became a smirk. "I went to your school" that's all he said.
I breathed a sigh of relief, grabbed Jules' arm, my rented surfboard was still in my other hand, and dragged the girl and the board away. The others followed. As we walked ten steps in that direction, Jules let go of his arm.
“Since when did you show charity to a freak?” Jules asked.
“They did nothing to us. You don't have to be so evil. "
"I didn't mean anything bad until they told Garrett they thought he didn't know how to talk."
"Garrett started it."
"He was just kidding."
Why is everyone looking at me like they agree with Jules? "Bodo time. I think we'll change and get out. "
Claire hooked her arm to my hand. "We. Let's go."
I had just decided on a quarrel between my group of friends and Bec's group before it became too hot. It feels like being a better person. It's a pity that my friends disagree with my efforts.
CHAPTER 19
I looked at my computer, confused. The Facebook page of a man named Bradley appeared on my screen. He doesn't look familiar and I'm not sure why this page was pulled at all. Has my brother used my computer? I closed the page as my eyes looked at the details below his UCLA photo. My eyes turned to his picture again. That's not my Bradley.
