13. Behind the Fence Wall

This afternoon Akiong did not play out with his friends like he had planned before because of the bad weather all day. The rain that fell so heavy, coupled with the sky so dark not to mention the occasional sound of lightning striking in this gloomy day. Indeed the rumbling sound is not too loud, but still it makes him disappointed because he had to be at home all day. Usually when it rains he and his friends will go to hunt crabs or yuyu, a type of freshwater crab that is small that is found when it rains. Behind his house is still an empty land that is overgrown with wild plants a lot of Yuyu that appears when the rainy season has arrived. But because today the rain fell very heavy and also a strong wind accompanied by the sound of thunder that rumbled, his grandmother forbade him to play rain outside as before. If only he remained determined to go out of the house, it was certain that in his arms or calves there would be a terrible wound from a blow from his grandmother using a broom handle.

This afternoon he just locked himself in his small room with the state of the lights of the room that lit. It was so dark out there that he had to turn on the room lights accompanied by the comic book he was holding right now, so he did not feel bored all day in this room. If only it did not rain hard out there or if only he did not go to play with his friends, he prefers to come to the grandmother's shop right next to his house than he has to stay like this in his own home. Grandma gave a special impression in Akiong's mind because she thought that my grandmother was being very nice to him, always being friendly when Akiong came, she said, my grandmother once bothered to prepare lunch for Akiong in his stall and they had lunch together there. Not only did my grandmother think that she was kind, but my father and my aunt were just as kind to her as well. Aunt Alin was very happy when she was at the granny shop as well as papa even though papa looked a little stiff and serious. If only his mother was not busy taking care of his shop in the market or if only his father was still alive until now, maybe his life would not be this lonely. Even though in this house there are grandparents themselves but still he feels not comfortable with them. Grandpa was good to him just started to get sick and had to rest a lot so he could not interact with him much, also his own grandmother who was so hard and disciplined to him. Not feeling the heavy rain brings an atmosphere so cool and comfortable that has led him to dreamland.

Akiong rubbed his eyes slowly and his vision began to adapt to the brightness of the room lights that turned out to be still on. He got up slowly from his bed and walked out of the room and saw the wall clock hanging on the television showing at half-six in the afternoon. It turned out that he slept long enough and looked to the right - and to the left, he saw no one in the living room and finally set foot back towards the kitchen because of the call of nature that he had to finish. When he came out of the bathroom he saw rice and warm side dishes were already available at the kitchen table for dinner. His grandmother who turned out to be there also told him to sit down for dinner which was only answered by a slow nod by Akiong.

("I.iya Mak.."), he who had been sitting on the dining table chair finally got up from his seat to step toward the back door which was quite far from the dining table.

He held the doorknob and it was already in the lock. But he faintly heard a strange sound from outside the door. For a moment he listened by bringing his ear closer to the door, like the sound of falling objects repeatedly, no matter what it was. Akiong who was curious looked towards the kitchen and saw his grandmother was no longer there he desperately opened the back door and stepped out on his tiptoes so that the sound of his steps could not be heard. After closing the door he saw a dark view of the empty land behind his house illuminated only by the yellowish light of one light bulb hanging pitifully not far from where he stood. He completely forgot when was the last time he set foot in this place because he played out there with his friends more often. His grandmother always forbade Akiong to bring his friend to play around this empty land because his grandmother was afraid that there was a snake that could harm them all. The sound was heard again it turned out to come from behind the wall of the fence of his house, part of the wall behind this fence is the house of the shop owner grandmother who he knew that the house was indeed creepy. His grandfather once told him that the house had indeed stood long before the house that Akiong lived in stood. The sound of the falling object was increasingly heard and Akiong's face immediately paled, but he was also struck by curiosity and once he saw there was a wooden ladder near the fence wall, Akiong immediately brought the bamboo ladder and placed it vertically on the wall so that he could climb and see the source of the strange sound that was behind this wall. Although Akiong hesitated, but because of his curiosity he slowly climbed the stairs with a strange sound that was still heard, but, and step by step he had reached the wall of the fence and seen the back of the house grandmother a little messy and unfortunately without any lighting. Slowly he looked down behind these walls and was surprised to see the strange sight he was witnessing. Looked a very strange man with a very thin body, looks seedy, wrinkled skin, long hair is very messy and it looks like a woman who turns out she is naked !!! he was playing an old head that was brownish with a child who was as thin and naked as that figure. Akiong who was still confused mixed with fear now saw the strange creature who looked at him with a very scary eye glare sharply with a grin in his slimy mouth and look disgusting. The figure that had been crouching is now standing and visible part of his chest that looks so much ulcer there and dangling down. Akiong who had been pale reflexes shouted quite loudly and almost the stairs that became his footing moved out of balance if only he did not hold the wire attached to the wall of the fence. With a deathly pale face he immediately came down from the stairs and ran back to enter the kitchen of his house through the door he had passed. Maybe after this he will be angry by his grandmother but he thinks it is still not how with the terrible backup he had just seen.
