Ten years later
“Hanna permission to leave, yes. Brothers all good here.” Hanna hugged one by one cellmates who were already like siblings.
“You must live well, Hanna. You are young, open a new sheet once out of the yard,” said Susi who used to hate Hanna but now they are like sisters.
“In shaa Allah, Brother. Sorry for sure Hanna is much wrong with the brothers.”
“Udah forgiven. Take care of yourself, Hanna. Don't get stuck again. We are here all bear life sentences just because we follow emotions and eve napsu,” reply other prisoners.
“Iya, Brother. In shea Allah Hana will remember the counsel of all the brethren. Hanna go first, yeah.”
Hanna came out of her cell room accompanied by expectant gazes from the other prisoners. Some can't wait for their turn to come out of the place that separates from the outside life. Not a few who give up because of the life sentence that must be borne.
Hanna changed clothes. Remove the prisoner uniform that has been worn so far. He had bought a set of robe suits and a long veil. He no longer wanted to wear the clothes he wore when he was thrown in prison.
An officer led him to the gate.
“Until here I drop off. Remember you still have to report every week. Lalai, we'll sneak up and get you back here. Live well. I hope this is the last time we meet.”
“Good, Mom. Thanks for everything.” Hanna kissed the officer's hand and stepped out of the small door that was opened for her.
Hanna boards a waiting ojol to take her to the bus station. It felt strange to see the traffic of vehicles and people after ten years of limited vision of high walls and barbed wire.
There was no family to pick up, nor was Thoriq her same ex-husband
never to visit. Hanna recalls being aware of so much evil and decay being incised.
Arriving at the bus station Hanna bought a ticket to Semarang. Just carrying the remaining money from selling handicrafts to make dried flowers in prison, he bought drinks and sweets for provisions on the road.
Hanna looked out the window of the bus she was riding on. His memory drifted to ten years ago.
The flash back
Hanna held the package that Qiara had given her. His hands were still trembling with anger. Qiara could have come and said he had paid another prisoner to bully him.
Hanna hatefully looks at her sleeping cellmate. He himself still standing in the corner was not allowed to sit.
His feet are not thick. Seeing that they were already sleeping, Hanna decided to sit down. Unfortunately for him a few seconds one of them woke up and told him to stand up again with a little kick in the leg.
Not daring to fight, Hanna immediately stood up. The package from Qiara fell. Hanna hurriedly picked it up and gathered it fearing the others getting up and bustling with it.
In the recesses of the cells, Hanna read the book The Way of Penance. Grunting, he began to read it.
“The punishment in the world for sinners is continuous difficulty in life.”.
Hanna frowned.
“I am innocent, however in Islam men can be polygamous even without the permission of the first wife,” thanks in heart, menutuo books with rough. He blamed Qiara as the source of the problem. Hanna finally fell asleep while leaning against the wall.
The years have been very slow for Hanna. At least his attitude has not changed. He is still like an innocent person and considers the world to be the corner.
One day Hanna gets into a fight with a prisoner. He was put into solitary confinement. He was only allowed to carry the mukena, Qur’an, and books that were never read again.
Hanna pranks on opening the book The Way of Penance. He read many times, until he came to a paragraph that pinched his heart about sins that are often considered to be true.
“May for women offer themselves to marry sholih men for good. But the Prophet Muhammad strictly forbade someone to disturb the harmony of one's household.”
Continue reading a sentence from the great scholar Aa Gym:
"When we commit our true obedience we are preparing for suffering, only repentance is able to undo it."
The longer Hanna was immersed in the writings. Heart's shaking. He couldn't continue. Put the book down slowly.
The marriage with Thoriq that was expected to realize his dream instead became the source of his unhappiness. He always lived in the shadow of Qiara.
For the sake of marrying Thoriq and seizing his love, Hanna was willing to frustrate the opportunity that was already in his grasp. Hanna's parents and Grandpa Thoriq had a sizable expedition company. He wanted to lead the company.
Her desire falters when her dream of marrying Thoriq appears again. He is sure to be happy with the man of his dreams. Polygamy was legitimate, he thought at the time. His presence was the only cause of the destruction of the harmony of the Thoriq and Qiara households.
I don't know what but something touched Hanna's heart that night.
Hanna leaned her head against the cold and hard stone wall. Insisting in the name of happiness, now here he is, so a condemned and outcast figure.
It seemed like the tears had long since dried up, the sadness felt had already crossed a bearable boundary. And all this time blame Qiara when he was the rotten one.
Hanna won't cry anymore. Himself tired. That night he performed a long-abandoned service. Four rakaat prayers Isya followed by two rakaat prayers of repentance.
After the prayer, Hanna's hand looked up. Stirring how hard life is, so painful his days and finally .. beg for forgiveness.
That night, Hanna's eyes opened. Qiara lamented as Thoriq hit her, her husband's flat gaze when Hanna declared wanting a divorce, leaving Aira to go with Bastian, to be treated as a bed toy item.
Hanna stared blankly at the wall in front of her. The smell of the toilet stings the nose. Hanna hopes to get out of this humiliated place and has the courage to apologize to everyone she has ever hurt.
His hand turned back and pleaded, “Yes Allah, if this is my punishment in the world, sincere servant. Guide this servant of yours to atone for sins and wrongs. Do not turn off the servant until all these sins are forgiven, O God. I beg Your forgiveness, O Ghafur.”
Flash back off.

After a seven-hour drive, Hanna arrived in Semarang. Getting off the bus, a woman wearing a long veil and a robe called out to her.
“Hanna, here ..”
“Assalamualaykum ustadzah,” greet Hanna while kissing the back of Ustadzah Nurlela's hand.
“Waalaykumussalam, thank God you have arrived, son. Hungry up? Want to eat first?”
“Matur nuwun, ma'am, still full,” said while at the same time heard the sound of rumbling from Hanna's stomach.
Nurlela or often called Ela smiled and then took Hanna, “Mother hungry, accompany me to eat soto, yuk.”
Hanna nodded, between shame and relief. Money to buy on the road.
Ela was not very hungry, but she knew Hanna must be ashamed to ask. Ela watches as Hanna is eating good for the first time in a lifetime.
Ela met Hanna while she was still in prison. They met while Hanna was teaching at the musala. The two often exchanged their thoughts. Hanna learned a lot from Ela, the ustadzah with the eyes set. Slowly but surely Hanna improved her morals, knowledge, and worship.
When Ustadzah Ela decided to return to take care of the pesantren she founded in Semarang, Hanna was devastated.
Ela calms down, “Hanna, it's not the mother who makes you strong, it's God. Please only Him. This man is a place of caliphate, but the love of God is beyond His wrath. Stay on the road diridhoi.”
Hanna was determined that if one day God would let her out of the room, she would study at the boarding school of Ela Ustadzah. They often talk over the phone, building a relationship like a mother and her daughter.
A bowl of soto was spent in an instant.
“Alhamdulillah yes, Allah ..”
Hanna suddenly shy, “Sorry ustadzah ..”
“Not what, Son. Let's go, hopefully you feel at home in the pesantren, yes ..”
“In shaa Allah, ustadzah. I want to learn. Hopefully, in the rest of my life I will still be given the opportunity to repent and apologize to the people I hurt.”
“Pray with God, age is the right of God that determines.”
“In shaa Allah ..”

Pink hooded teen back and forth looked at the arrival door.
“Aya, how long is it? The plane had landed from earlier,” was spoiled.
“Sabar, Ai, maybe Mas Kala again take luggage.”
Aira looked back for her brother. He last met his brother five years ago when Devan and his extended family visited Indonesia to see his third son Dhanu and Marianne.
It was only a short meeting on the weekend because Aira still had to go to school. The rest of them are routinely in contact via video call.
This time Kala and Liam came alone to Indonesia. Liam was seventeen years old so Devan and Qiara trusted him to accompany Kala to Indonesia. Solo exactly.
Devan has also spoken at length to ask permission from Thoriq because Liam wants to explore several places in Central Java. Thoriq did not mind even preparing a itinerary for Liam.
Thoriq himself was not married or eventually chose not to marry. He feels good to be a father and mother to his daughter.
Aira never felt inferior if at school events were not present with a mother. He proudly told me about his father.
In the distance the anticipated figure is seen pushing a trolley with two large suitcases.
Aira immediately ran to meet her brother who was only one month different. The fourteen-year-old is on the verge of transition. His body was tall, his facial bones began to turn towards the adult man, but as soon as he saw Aira immediately running while suddenly hugging his sister.
Thoriq smiled, Kala is a photocopy of herself as a child. Thoriq's small heart felt victorious because at least Qiara saw the young version of herself at all times.
Realizing his dreadful thoughts, Thoriq hurriedly greeted Kala.
Aira and Kala were still laughing and jiggling with pleasure. The brothers let go of longing in a unique way.
Seeing Thoriq approaching, Kala rushed to his father.
“Aya, Kala kangen,” cried directly hugging Thoriq tightly. Thoriq's eyes warmed, his embrace no less tight.
“Assalamualaykum Uncle Thoriq, Aira.” Thoriq turned to the owner of the voice.
Aira's mouth and many women in that place gawked at the handsome young man like a western movie star standing before them.
“Waalaykumussalam,” said Thoriq while trying his daughter to cover his mouth agape.
“How are you, Liam?” Aira's father greeted Liam who had now grown into a grown man.
“Aya, why did he say assalamualaykum?” Aira's whisper was astonished.
“He converted, Ai,” said Kala calmed down and took his sister who was still stunned to see Liam.
All he saw was grimace and cupped his hands towards Aira. Liam is Devan's son with Stella, so he has no blood relation with Thoriq and Aira.
“I have a gift for you.”
Liam took something from his handbag.
Aira's eyebrows shot up, her face stupefied.
“Grizzly doll from me you still save it? If it's rotten, I'll buy a bigger one.”
The grizzly bear doll that was given this time was more sinister than the one received the first time meeting Liam. Aira accepts shyly because actually grizzly doll from Liam is her favorite doll. Until now, the doll faithfully accompanied him to sleep.
Meanwhile Liam chuckles satisfied to see the creepy doll changing hands to the cute girl. Liam never tired of bothering Aira, from the first time he knew, in every video call with Kala, until finally they met.
Thoriq glanced at the misbehaved Aira then embraced her. Her daughter is now a teenage girl. Thoriq kissed a glimpse of Aira's head and took everything to the car.
They went to the house of Thoriq, where there was already Grandpa and Grandma who could not wait to meet Kala.
Upon arrival, Grandpa and Grandma welcomed Kala and Liam. Kala and Liam kissed the reverence of both of their hands. Grandpa was now in a wheelchair because he had a stroke, Grandma had to be helped with a stick because the joints began to be fragile.
Kala did not know Grandpa and Grandma. From Liam he hears that both cause Aya and Buna to separate. However, Kala was polite to both.
Thoriq showed the room that Kala and Liam would wear during their stay. The room on the top floor faces the mountains.
After praying and cleaning up, Kala and Liam went down to meet Grandma and Grandpa.
“How's Bunamu doing?” Ask Grandpa slowly.
“Buna is good, Grandpa. Buna can't come because Abby's having a piano exam. Keep triplets also want equestrian matches.”
“Thank God, Grandpa wants to meet actually.”
Kala just nodded unresponsive. Liam nudged his half-sister.
“Mmm Yes later Kala convey, Grandpa Buyut.”
Bik Jumin out carrying a variety of light snacks. There are fried bananas, fried oncoms, and steamed yams. Don't forget poci tea and sugar cubes. Aira directly sucked her favorite fried oncom.
“Ai, guest first dong. Cobain this oncom maybe in the UK there is no.” Ban Thoriq while catching his daughter's hand and then serving the plate to Kala and Liam.
“Oncom? Ada, Buna likes to make, really. Although rare because the purchase must be nitip,” said Kala after peeling the tongue to his sister.
Liam chooses fried bananas and Kala takes his favorite oncom.
“Aira also likes oncom,” reply Aira sucks one no matter her father's gaze.
“When have you ever eaten soto? sometime Grandma make.”
“Bby, Grandma. Kala likes to eat soto with perkedel.”
Looking at Kala, Grandpa and Grandma seemed to carry over into the past while raising Thoriq. His favorite foods are soto and perkedel. Favorite fried oncom snack.
The presence of Kala and Aira made their feelings mixed. On the one hand they are the ones who cause Kala to be separated from his father, but on the other hand there is Aira, a great-grandson who is also very dear to them.
“Mas Kala, cobain steamed yam too. Sweet tasty.” Aira sees her brother back taking fried oncom. Kala nodded, the other hand took the yam. Again Liam nudged Kala.
“His appetite-pants, Kala,” said Liam warned as he saw Kala impatiently spend it all. His sister had always eaten.
“Liam now SMA, yes?” Grandfather asked the polite young man before him.
“SMA is highschool, right? Right, Kek,” reply with English Indonesian accent.
“You can speak Indonesian now?”
“Alhamdulillaah can. Buna wants us all to speak English and Bahasa Indonesia well. Just the accent is still not like Buna and Kala.”
Grandpa and Grandma glanced at each other. They were amazed at how Liam looked so fond of Qiara.
“Where are you going to college?” Ask Grandma curious.
“Liam mah, delicious Nek, already accepted at a famous university in the UK, the faculty of psychology. From small he wants to be Love Guru,” ceplos Kala while continuing to chew.
Liam chuckled at his sister's comments while Grandpa and Grandma were astonished by the term Love Guru.
Liam explained, “Times small, I like to advise friends that they have a crush. Even when Daddy wants PDKT with Buna also I give advice, you know. If you don't follow my advice, maybe they don't get married.”
Thoriq glanced at Liam, after so many years his heart still throbbed every time he heard something about Qiara and Devan. While the glimpsed smile proudly while taking a fried banana, I don't know how many times.
“Uncle Thoriq if need love advice, can same me,” Liam valiantly offer.
“Well, maybe you should chat a lot with Liam,” said Grandma quickly while chuckling mendegar Liam expressive chatter. In Grandma's heart was worried that her favorite granddaughter would become a weathered widower.
Thoriq responded by smiling widely and scratching his non-itchy head.
“Uncle Thoriq with severe move-on failure syndrome. The cure is only one: Dare move-on. Don't get stuck in the past. It cannot be repeated. Mending looking for happy for the future.” Liam stared in the netra Thoriq making the wrongly stared behavior.
Thoriq shook his head while picking up the yam, while Grandma directly patted Liam's shoulder.
“One stays! Not a comment, Thoriq?”
“I'm ready to listen to uncle-uneg Thoriq, anytime.” Liam confidently offers while Thoriq increasingly sad to see Grandpa and Grandma who seem to agree with Liam's offer.
“Yes yes, later we chat, yes ..” Finally Thoriq gave up after Grandma back and forth elbowed him.
“Emang Aya still love Buna?” Tanya Kala plain.
Liam and the others turned their heads towards the distraught Thoriq and wanted to escape.
As everyone was waiting for the answer, Thoriq answered carefully. Here are three camps interested in the answer.
“Not love like a husband to his wife. But mmm what yes, maybe more to the affection because Buna is the woman who gave birth to Aya.”
“That's good, just don't get stuck. Losing someone we once loved can be so painful, that stepping up to a new commitment becomes impossible. Is that what Uncle feels?” Liam gave his analysis.
“Betul,” great-grandson Thoriq. “Eh yes more or less that deh.” Thoriq corrected his voice to make it more authoritative.
Liam smiled. “Quiet Uncle, as long as I'm here I'll guide. Origin Uncle do not ask for advice to reciprocate with Buna, yes.”
The sentence that came out of Liam's mouth almost made Thoriq stray from his chair.
“Yes, Ay, Buna are happy with Daddy,”
sahut Kala is still innocent.
“No, I can't think back to Buna.”
Unbeknownst to all, Aira sneered towards her father who was replied with a code of silence.
“Already, we are talking your plan during here.” Thoriq finally felt puffed up.
“Aaah, diversion. All right, but remember my offer is always open, yes, Uncle.” Liam patted Thoriq on the shoulder.
