The Pawned Wife

The Pawned Wife
Chapter 8 > Dinner

Xaquille Home ....

Geck! Geck! Geck!

The door was knocked three times from the outside. Audrey who was currently sitting on the edge of the bed while staring at the contents of a very beautiful room. Slowly he got out of bed and walked to the door.

The door was wide open and a middle-aged man was standing at the door of his room. Audrey furrowed her brows while looking at the man who was none other than Mr. Arman, the private driver of Akandra. "Sorry to interrupt, miss. Dinner's ready, come on," Mr. Arman asked Audrey.

"Eat dinner?" ask her with a frowned.

"Yes, Miss. Mr. Akandra asked us to prepare dinner for Miss," Mr. Arman replied with a slight smile.

"Then, where is Mr Akandra?" Audrey looked over and there looking for the whereabouts of the owner.

"Mr Akandra's on business. Let's Non" take Mr. Arman once again.

Audrey just nodded her head as she walked out of her room. Before that, he pulled the door handle to close. After that, he followed the steps of the middle-aged man.

Arriving at the dining table, Audrey had time to gawk because the food on the table was really a lot and also luxurious. He who was afraid of seeing the wrong look immediately rubbed his eyes to make sure what he saw was real. "Please sit down, Nope." Mr. Arman pulled a chair for Audrey.

"Eh, you don't have to be like this. I can do it myself" Audrey said.

"I'm just running errands, enjoy it, Non."

Audrey sat in the chair Mr. Arman had prepared. While the waiters walked up to Audrey and poured some food onto Audrey's plate. Seeing that, Audrey felt bad because she had never been treated like this.

'Why is Mr Akandra so good? Is this food safe? What if this food has been mixed with medicine?' inner Audrey wondered because of the friendly attitude of the servants as well as Lord Akandra.

"Why not eat and just look at him? Calm down, Miss. .. This food is safe and not mixed with poison. If you don't believe me, let us taste it first" said one of the waiters.

"That's not necessary, I'll eat it. You can all go. Don't worry about me because I must have finished this meal" Audrey said respectfully.

To be honest at this time Audrey felt uncomfortable if she had to eat while accompanied by many people like that. She was not the queen, nor was she the one who Lord Akandra was but why Lord Akandra was so kind to her that she ordered her servants to serve strangers like her. However, even though Audrey had asked the servants to leave, all the servants still remained standing behind even beside Audrey.

"We are only carrying out the duties ordered by Mr. Akandra, as long as Miss Audrey has not eaten this food, we will remain here until we see Miss eating it" the butler said sternly.

"Alright, alright. I'll eat the food, after that let me go to the room."

Inevitably, Audrey had to eat the sumptuous food that was in front of her. With a sense of anxiety, he began to hold the cutlery in the form of a fork and a gold-colored knife. Although he hesitated to devour the food, he still put it in his mouth.

'There are only two possibilities. The first one I will die if this food is poisonous and vice versa, I will survive if this food does not contain poison. Whatever the end may be, I will feel grateful that I will be freed from a cruel husband like Mas Devanka. Bismillah, ' Inner Audrey spoke.
