All night Edmond couldn't close his eyes. She recalled how Edewina rubbed her mammoth stomach and kissed her with a smile.

Mahira must be pregnant. But why didn't he tell me? I remember what happened that afternoon. Has our love that made Mahira hurt her made Mahira pregnant? I'm not barren like Monalisa said. Edmond tried to hold back his jealousy. "Ra, you know that I love you so much."
