When The Sky Fall

When The Sky Fall
Chapter 19's

Renald looked around for the reason why he was so angry at seeing Dance who couldn't even take care of herself. But strangely he did not find that reason. She knew that even if she asked or forced her, Dari would not want to quit her job.

Tok tok tok tok

The sound of knocking on the door rang out, ripping off Renald's daydream. Renald went back to his job. All he did was daydream.

"Come in"

Door opens. Ted walks into his office with Alex.

"Have you come?" said Renald and headed for the guest seat. Ted and Alex were sitting there.

"So how?"

"I think it's too wasteful if we do it all at once. Not that we have another project. So we do some of the new project first while completing the old project. We've got permits in korea, japan, miami. Randy also said he still had other jobs not being able to work full time. In addition, if it's only done in half, maybe we can see what people will buy it, we know this is difficult" explained Ted.

"I'm sure the marketing department already has a plan" Alex said.

"That's right. What I mean by the funds. Investors are quite a lot but now many attract investment in the middle of the road. It would be hard if that happened. They are usually attractive if they know they will long withdraw profits or not go to profit."

"If the investor resigns, how much will he lose?"

"Very big. That is if only three investors back out. If more than that, it means disaster. I recommend doing half of it. See what the benefits can already be seen. Then we decide whether we go ahead or not."

Alex nodded his head. "What do you think sir? "

Both Alex and Ted were staring at Renald. Renald just stared down with his chin on the handle with his hand. He seemed to be neither listening nor focused. Ted and Alex stared at each other.

"Ren." call Ted. Renald was silent, not answering. "Renald!" this time Ted raised his voice, making Renald show a small jolt in his body.

"Ah.. Excuse me.. What was?" Renald turned the paper back on her hand.

"Ahh that, this ten-" Alex's words came to a halt. He sees Ted raising one hand up, stopping Alex from speaking.

"Well, you're Renald? Why aren't you focused?" ask Ted. Renald berdehem's.

"I'm doing fine. Let's continue." take Renald.

"No." said Ted. He looked at Alex. "Is there a problem in the company?"

"Not recently, sir. That time is over." replied Alex.

"Then? What's Veronica?" guess Ted.

"I don't have a problem with him. Go ahead." ask Renald.

"No, until you focus. I don't want things that used to happen again. And it's all because you're not focused!"

Renald breathed a rough sigh. "I'm really okay!"

Ted squinted his eyes. He's known Renald since he was a kid. He knows very well how he is.

"I didn't know you yesterday." Ted shook his head.

"alright, fine. You already have a wife, maybe you'll understand." Renald finally said.

"About?"

"Why are women so stubborn."

"Huh??" the look of confusion was clearly on Ted's handsome face. Ted was silent for a moment and then he finally sighed. "It turns out to be true this is about Veronica. Why else is he?" Ted leaned his body.

"I'm not talking about it."

"Then?" Ted frowned. The next moment he was surprised. "Wait, Dance?!"

"Why are you surprised like that? Like seeing a ghost." Renald clucking.

"Who are you and where is Mr. Renald. I don't care who you are?!"

Renald sighed and then massaged his forehead.

"Okay, sorry. All right, what's wrong with him? Usually you don't care what he does, what he says. Why are you disturbed now?" ask Ted. He's back in serious mode. But he was really surprised Renald wasn't focused because of Dance. He's never done that before. Renald is a person who is very focused on his work. No matter the woman or even the problems with her family, it will not make her lose focus. No matter the storm, the earthquake, he will stay focused. Perhaps even if there was an earthquake or tsunami disaster, what he would save was his job. Veronica once made him lose focus because of the extreme things he did, and it almost made Renald bankrupt.

"You know, he works. He has two jobs. At first I thought he was working just to make time or maybe find a friend?"

"Or maybe avoid meeting you." Ted. Alex agreed to it.

"Well.. Maybe." Renald acknowledged. "But it turned out to be to pay her debt to me."

Ted looked surprised. "He owes you?"

"Hmmm... Not directly."

"Wait, what? What does it mean not directly?"

"When I married her, her parents asked me to pay the dowry. You know, the money given to the bride and the bride's family. In Indonesia it has that tradition."

"And you take it as a debt? Very funny!" Ted clucking.

"But it turns out he can't be controlled?" guess Ted.

"really. Real hard. This time I found a woman like her. He was different when I first met him. Now I know he's working to pay off his debt to me. He's even paid a few." Renald stared at Alex sharply for having given his personal account number to Tari. Alex just bowed.

"Randy was right, he was different from the others. Then what's the problem? You know he won't stop, even after you introduce him to everyone. You got a swearing-in from Helena because of that."

"I-okay I'm not going to discuss that. I don't even understand why I did that crazy thing. Clearly, he was torturing himself! He eats potluck, he doesn't get enough rest and what makes me angry the most is why I care so much and get annoyed because of that! He chose to pay off that stupid debt by torturing himself. Then why am I the one who can't focus on working because I think about that?!"

"Maybe you feel guilty for making that money into debt. You really don't owe him, do you?" ask Ted to make sure.

"Of course not. I'm not crazy yet! Besides, the money I gave was nothing to me! I can get it again. But not with him! He worked hard because of that and thought if his debt paid off he would be free of me."

"Now I ask, does Veronica still refuse to marry you?" ask Ted. Renald.

"No, he's excited about it. Even he's like terrorizing me."

"Wait what else? Divorce Dance and marry Veronica. Don't tell me you're afraid of your family. It's been a long time since you had a big fight with your father. You don't even talk to him, anymore. About mom... Dance can help talk to him. I'm sure if Dance talks, your mother will listen."

"Come Ted. I don't know."

Ted rounded his eyes. He doesn't believe Renald has any qualms about marrying Veronica. Usually he would be excited even he could carry out that marriage right now. But now he doubts?

"You.. Doubt it? Are you really Renald?"

"I once promised to marry her, that's true. I try to keep my promise. Give her a romantic and luxurious proposal. Prepare for the wedding with everything she wants. But he fled hours before the wedding. I have no problem with that. She's scared, she's nervous, I get it. But not if he runs off with a man. He promised he wouldn't cheat again but he still does, to this day."

"You know Veronica's crazy, a long time ago. But you're crazier because you're still with him and you're keeping him" Ted said at last. He shook his head. Renald rubbed his forehead again. "Then what do you want to do?"

Renald. "Eitherway. I don't know."

"What possible... Are you starting to like it?"

"You're crazy!"

"Come on, you know he's different. Very different from Veronica. Maybe that's why your heart is moved."

"Yes and you are driven mad. Stop this prank and let's get to work." Renald read the paper in his hand.

"It's not you who's not focused."

"Stop. Okay?" Renald warned. Ted raised both hands and returned to his job. Renald was still thinking about Ted's words. He liked? Did ya?

...***...

A farewell dance to some people in the restaurant. His work hours are over. Since she's off at the bar, she plans to have dinner with her former co-workers at the boutique, Olivia, Marisol and Cindy. Marisol actually went to work today at the bar, but she's allowed dinner. Since it's Saturday, the bar will be closed at three in the morning. So he doesn't have to rush.

Everyone was waiting for him in front of the restaurant where Tari worked because of the longer working hours of Dance. Dari smiled broadly at her friends who were waiting for her. All this time Dance was still on good terms with them. They even created a group chat.

" Where are we going to dinner? Only the cheap ones. I don't have much money. My son spent all my money on his school supplies. Why is school so expensive now?" Olivia started to complain and as usual she always pinned her swear words to her every word. They started walking away from the restaurant. Not far away foot stepped, the name of Dance called.

"Dance."

Everyone who was busy talking to each other, stopped and turned their heads. They found Renald standing next to his car and walked up to them. The surprised Dance took a step back silently then hid behind her friends. Renald who saw that reprimanded him.

"Why are you hiding in there?" ask Renald. Everyone stared at Dance. Dari looked at her friends for a moment then looked at Renald.

"Sedang...are you here?" tanya Dari in a slow voice but still heard in Renald's ears. Dari was surprised to see Renald's whereabouts here and she also called out his name? What demonic possession is he?

"Fetch you and because I heard you were going to dinner, then all dinner. I'm the dealership. How's it?" tawar Renald's. Dance frowned. He was wary of what Renald would do. Alex's right. Renald was totally unpredictable.

"Hmm Dance, you know her?" ask Olivia. Everyone stared at Dance.

"Ahhhhhhhh.. Her.. Diaa... Uhmm.."

"I'm her husband Dance, Renald William." Renald extended his hand to Olivia. Everyone is surprised. Olivia slowly welcomed Renald's hand.

"Wahh I didn't expect your husband. "They're very surprised now." Marisol sees Olivia and Cindy.

" Let's have dinner. I'll buy it." take Renald again.

"You want what this guy really is? He suddenly appeared and introduced himself especially to dinner? What's wrong with her?"

Dance is getting suspicious. I don't know whatever Renald's planning he doesn't want to play.

"No, we'll have dinner alone. Aren't we?" tanya Dari and looked at all her friends, seeking approval.

"certain. But pity your husband has picked you up. Or we just postpone our dinner plans." Marisol suggested. He took the middle ground. She knew that Dari would not eat dinner with her husband.

"That's not necessary. We could have dinner together. I want to buy you dinner." Renald said. He walked to his car and opened the front and back doors. Dance and her friend stared at each other.

"I don't have a problem. Just eat. I thank you, today I got a free dinner." said Olivia then walked to Renald's car. Cindy followed him from behind. Marisol stared at Tari, as if asking for her approval. Dance nodded slowly. Marisol finally got into the car. Renald closed the back door and hinted at the still-in-place Dance to get in the car. Dance sighed then walked to the car. In front of the car door he whispered to Renald.

"If you're planning something weird, I swear I'll-"

"You don't have to swear anything and don't think of anything strange." Renald said. Dance into the car, sitting next to Renald.
