Plaque!!
A loud slap landed on Dari's cheek. Dari sighed and closed his eyes for a moment. He tried to calm himself.
"Bad! How dare you! You should be thanking me, but what? You question how I take care of your papa?! Heh! I'm your stepmother! Wife of your papa! Not nurses! When I get out of the house can't I?" peekkit Salina's.
Dance tried to ask for an explanation of what happened, well of course. Dance is not a plain girl who receives anything given and told. But he still knows what it's called manners. She honored Salina as the wife of Hendrawan, her father. Even for Hendrawan's sake, Tari accepted the ridiculous wedding which she believed was Salina who suggested the crazy thing. Dance kept quiet when neither Hedrawan nor Salina explained what debts they had. He's been patient enough. But hearing Hendrawan died of neglect, he could not remain silent anymore. Even so she still tried to speak well to Salina but it was precisely the slap she received.
"I just asked mom. Is it that important that you leave papa without waiting for Adit first?" tanya Dance. "I didn't forbid mom. I-i understand. Maybe the mother is bored or tired, constantly looking after the father. That's why I understand. Just so, can't you wait for Adit to come home first?"
"Yes! More importantly, than your dying father! Hmh! I don't earn anymore and I take care of sick people!"
"Yes but what mom? What's more important?!"
"So you want to know my personal things too? So presumptuous!!"
"Sister, already... Calm down." asked Tari's oldest sister, Dimas.
"Sister just wants to know, what really happened. What makes you leave without even waiting for Adit. That's aja. Not to blame or want to know about personal problems. Death, no one can guess. But I just want to know why."
"Just like, you talk to me. Not to thank, but to be accused." Salina walked into the room and slammed the door. Dance breathed her breath. Salina did not answer.
Dance arrived home around twelvepm. Hendrawan was buried yesterday afternoon. Adit provided his father's medical records and the reason why Hendrawan died the next morning. Therefore, after Tari from Hendrawan's tomb, he immediately asked his mother.
"Sister." scolded Dimas from outside the door to Dance's room. Dance was sitting in her room after the quarrel with Salina earlier.
"Just in."
Dimas went into the dance room.
"What else is it?" ask Dimas.
"Hm... No more doing. Why?"
"Later what kind of teaching event? Are you in catering again?" ask Dimas.
"Hm... We'll use catering. Some families want to help cook, but not tasty ngerepotin others. Brother doesn't like. Do you know the phone number of the caterer? Pesen for tomorrow."
"Tau brother. But you're okay, right?" ask Dimas. She looked worried looking at her worried brother. "Where's sister-in-law? Dimas wants to meet. Dimas' wedding time didn't come because his marriage was impromptu."
"Sister is okay, just the thought of leaving you two, especially Adit, here. And your brother-in-law is busy. So don't ask him."
"Brother fight?" tanya Dimas saw her brother who seemed not to care about her husband.
Dance sighed. "No, we're fine. How's college?"
"My lecture is good, brother. Already trial, now just waiting for graduation. I can stay here while I'm waiting for graduation. There's two more weeks."
"Sorry brother yes, like brother can not come when you graduate later." Dance feels bad. He definitely won't have any money by the time Dimas graduates. Even paying his debt to Renald next month is difficult.
"Not anything, brother. I can do it myself. After graduation, I came straight back here and found a job here."
"Don't you work there too?"
"But far from home. Here I can take care of Adit. Because I have worked before, I have work experience. God willing, I can work faster. Brother doesn't have to worry about the same for both of us anymore. We're both boys, take care of ourselves. Adit also works part-time and I will also work later. We'll be fine."
"Fix it, Mas. It's hard to let you two stay here without a sister."
"Oh my dear brother. Brother is too worried. But brother, why did his sister marry him spit-neck? What brother....." Dimas did not continue his words, only staring at the belly of Dance.
"Hmmm you are! If you are pregnant, your stomach should be big dong Mas.." Dance shook her head.
"That's not what I meant. Did you want to marry until you forced sister-in-law? Must have been her first night brother ferocious!"
Dari stared in disbelief and then hit Dimas.
"You're!"
...***...
"Is the food ready, Mom?" tanya Dance. He was preparing a snack for the study participants.
"Already brother. Everything is ready. Isya soon. Where's mom?" ask Dimas. Dance shrugged both of her shoulders.
"Either. Sister no see. Call gih." dance ink. Dimas nodded then headed towards Salina's room. Dimas knocked on the door.
"Mom... Mum..."
There's no answer. When Dimas was about to knock again, suddenly the door opened. Salina came out with two large suitcases.
"Where are you going?" ask Dimas confused. Salina did not answer. Just scrolling his suitcase towards the door. "Sister... Brother!"
Dance out and come to them.
"Where are you going?" tanya Dance.
"It's none of your business! Your father died so I have no business here. After all, who can stand your charges? Rather than me being accused of continuing, mending me go!" hardik Salina's.
"But Dance did not accuse me. Dance just asks." buju Tari.
"I don't care. I have no business here anymore. And one thing, sell this house! I know your papa's estate is just this house and I'm entitled to the distribution of this house's property. Your papa promised you'd give me my share. If you don't give it, I'll sue you. I have the deal." Salina placed a piece of paper on the table and left while scraping two large suitcases with her. Dance took the paper and looked at it.
"Fifty percent of the proceeds from home sales?" Dance surprised. He wanted to deny it but he saw Hendrawan's signature which he was very familiar with had been affixed to the stamped paper. Dari and Dimas stared at each other.
Tahlilan event was held smoothly. Dance cleaned up her house, while Dimas and Adit together lifted the sofa and put it back inside the house. They had lifted it out so that guests could sit in the house and to be wider.
"Sorry, who is it?" ask Dimas suddenly. Someone helped her lift the couch. Adit stood there for a moment.
"Sister! There's Renald's brother." call Adit. Dance flinched then hurried out of the house. And it's true. He looked at Renald who was about to help Dimas lift the table. Renald smiled faintly.
"You must be uhmm Dimas, right?" ask Renald. Dimas nodded. Renald stretched out his hand. "Renald. Your sister's husband."
Dimas welcomed Renald's hand. "Ah.. Ja. Come in, brother. Let me and Adit take this up" Dimas said.
"It's okay. Let me help you." Renald took off his suit and placed it on the table that he was going to lift with Dimas.
"Have you guys eaten?" ask Dari to Dimas and Adit after they're done.
"Already brother. His brother should have been Renald's brother. We did that." said Dimas.
"Okay, then you rest. The rest of the brothers do."
"Ohhhh brother wants to be alone with you, same brother Renald, loose kangen." seduced Dimas.
"Jeez Dimas! It's up there." Dance shook her head. Dimas and Adit laughed then went up to the second floor.
Dance pulled Renald's hand towards the kitchen, so that his two younger siblings would not hear their conversation.
" What are you going to do here?" tanya Dance when they're in the kitchen.
"You still ask? Why didn't you tell me? Why did you just leave without telling me?" Renald rained questions on him. Dari looked at Renald for a moment.
"Listen to me carefully. I don't need you here. It's not here in New York, where your name means so much. No one knows about you maybe even care, other than the rich. And I can make sure there's nothing like that in my family. So you don't have to pretend to be sympathetic and come here to do your job as a husband."
"But I am your husband."
"On paper you remember. I told you to do your own duties and not interfere in each other's personal affairs. We don't have to pretend to be a harmonious couple here."
"really? Doesn't your family know about our marriage?"
"That's my business, not yours. Now go." Dance opened the kitchen door so Renald could get out. Renald breathed in rough air and left the house. Dance immediately locked her house. Enough in New York alone he's dealing with Renald. She was already quite dizzy with her stepmother's affairs.
