Demon Laws
Chapter 16: The Greatest Female Astrologer

Dewey took a candlestick. Thinking for a moment, he picked up the weapon hanging on the wall. Recalling his small and weak body now, he chose a short sword. Pondering for a moment, Dewey picked up some new candles.

Then Dewey stepped into the secret room on the wall.

The weak flames could only shine through the space by about two three steps. Fortunately, Dewey's spiritual power was stronger than ordinary people, so his sensitivity to the surroundings was also stronger.

This was a secret passage embedded in the cold hard stone wall. I don't know how many years. This secret path was filled with dust. Even though Dewey had tried to slow down every movement, he still could not avoid the dust so sneezed.

His feet occasionally stepped on small stones. With the candle twinkling, Dewey could only walk carefully.

Fortunately, this place seems to have ventilation. Despite the flickering, the candle does not go out due to the lack of oxygen in the room.

Walking a moment later, a ladder appeared in front. Spiral stairs connected to the bottom. The staircase is very narrow, made of stone as well, it looks rough, but fortunately it is quite strong. Walking down, according to Dewey's calculations, after about 30 floors, he finally saw a small door.

The metal door handle is rusted. Dewey clasped the doorknob and pushed it away, but he found that the door was locked. Cannot be opened. He sighed, then remembered the sentence on the shelf.

“Sspoon is key.”

Dewey thought for a moment, then lifted the candle to the front door. Finally, he saw a pattern on the ceiling of the room above the door.

It's a carving pattern. Based on the patterns there, Dewey could see that this was like an astrological chart. She doesn't know much about astrology, but because she remembers the ‘sendok’ thing. He clearly found ‘ stars of biduk’ shaped like a spoon on this astrological map.

“Sspoon is key,” murmured Dewey. The ceiling is a bit high for her 13-year-old. Even to his tip, Dewey could not reach the ceiling with his hands. With the dim light of the candle, Dewey studied this pattern closely.

The first candle was almost gone, Dewey lit the second candle, then remembered the important thing.

The key?

Joking!

If this secret passage was known to people, the person who entered did not have a key, would he not be able to find a tool to open this door? Without a key, this door can still be opened in a rough way.

Then, the key is no longer so important. But the sentence deliberately shows ‘key’, then it must have a different meaning.

That way, if there is no key, it cannot use any other means to destroy or open it.

‘This lock’ may not be interpreted literally.

Dewey sat down and thought for a moment. After standing back up, he leaped with all his might, the short sword in his hand tapping on the pattern of the dipper on the ceiling.

Dewey's eyes twinkled, this voice was rather empty.

He gave up trying to draw attention at the door and bowed, finding a crack in the stone floor, then thrusting the sword into the crack violently. Letting the sword stand on the floor, Dewey stepped on the sword by propping it up against the wall. That way he gets a little higher. Although it swayed slightly, he could touch the ceiling.

There is a thick layer of dust on the ceiling. Dewey groped for a moment, then sensed that the pattern of the dipper star was clearly different from elsewhere. He tried several ways; knocking, twisting, and others.

Finally, he touched out of nowhere, then twisted it tightly. An astrological stone spun, then the floor in the corner suddenly collapsed.

A black hallway appeared on the floor, there was a staircase leading down there.

It worked!

Dewey exclaimed lowly, then jumped off the sword with a smile.

And true. This is a scam. Dewey believed that his guess was correct.

This rusty door is just a cheat. The real secret is not in this door. If the person who comes here does not pay attention to the instructions ‘star biduk’, even forcibly opening the door can not find the real secret.

Dewey believed that the real secret in this place was in the black passage down.

He walked down the hall. This entrance was very narrow, only accommodating one person. In the dark. Dewey lit a candle and threw it inside, and saw that the stairs below were not very deep. Only about two-three meters away, it should be a secret room.

Dewey did not go down directly, but instead sat in front of the hall door for a while, seeing nothing strange and then carefully descended the stairs.

This was a sealed room, with stone walls covered on all sides. There are rows of vaults on both sides of the wall. Many are sealed and all locks are rusty. In the middle was a huge stone platform.

This stone stage was as tall as Dewey's waist. There are a lot of esoteric patterns that are hard to read there. The middle is a big bow. All the dots around are star positions.

Dewey looked for a moment and felt confused, then stopped studying the patterns there, concentrating on the vault next door.

This vault is locked to death because it's been a long time, the key may have rusted as well. Dewey's been trying for a long time. Just as she was feeling a little moody, she cheered for finding an unlocked drawer.

This is the only drawer in the vault that is not locked.

Once opened, a stone box lay inside the drawer,

The stone has the Rollin family crest carved on the front.

Dewey lifted this box with great difficulty, then sat on the floor and opened it carefully. Inside the box was a roll of parchment.

There's some text on this parchment scroll. After opening the parchment, a green crystal shaped like a gem fell from the scroll.

Dewey patiently lit the third candle he had brought, then read the text on this parchment.

“To those concerned,

Dear reader, you must be a descendant of the Rollin family. So the first thing you should know is that this is a letter from your ancestors. The one who wrote this letter was me, wife of the seventh generation family head of the Rollin family, Nejum Expert Semel.”

Astrologer, Semel?

Dewey certainly knew that in the history of the Rollin family once appeared a unique family head. The head of the family was very interested in astrology, even marrying a necromancer. The castle where Dewey is located now is the tallest tower in the castle. A tall white tower built specifically by the head of the family, to facilitate his wife who is a necromancer in observing the stars in the night sky better.

Dewey did not expect that this letter was written by the wife of the head of the family, the astrologer.

He continued reading.

“When you read this letter, hopefully you can understand that what you are about to face is a very risky danger. You may be opening doors that have been banned for centuries. Because there was most likely a forbidden area that humans could not touch behind this door.

At the same time, this was the discovery of my studies during my lifetime.

If you are ready to take the risk, you bring the jewel with this envelope, then palpate the stone stage in the room. You'll find a socket. After inserting the jewel, you will get the complete information I left behind. In order to ensure that the legacy of information does not fall into the hands of outsiders, the activation of information requires the blood of Rollin's descendants. Please drop your blood on the jewel. Rollin's blood will lead you to the message I left.”

There is a line of text at the end of this letter.

“May the Rollin family be maxed out, for I fell in love with this family because of my husband.

Your ancestor, Semel Keira Rollin.”

Dewey read through and was shocked.

Because based on the family history that he had read, the impact on the name Semel Keira Rollin, his real name Semel Keira, after marriage, he only bears the family name Rollin very deep.

This woman was the wife of the head of the seventh generation family of the Rollin family, a famous necromancer. He deserves to be admired in the field of divination. Dewey's mentor the old scholar Roseate was also a necromancer. He seemed respectful when occasionally bringing up the wife of this Dewey ancestor. He even mentioned that this necromancer named Semel seems to have been one of the best necromancers in the empire for almost 200 years.

The reason Dewey remembered this name was not because Semel was a great necromancer, but there was another reason.

Because in the Rollin family records that Dewey had read, this necromancer was a woman who loved her husband at the same time.

The seventh generation family head of the Rollin family was short-lived. He died around the age of 50. This necromancer was clearly a loyal woman. The third day after her husband died, she committed suicide in the white tower her husband had built for her.

Before he died, this necromancer carved a sentence in his tower. Because of love, we are immortal.

It was these last words that made Dewey remember the famous woman in the family's history.

Without hesitation, Dewey looked down and touched the bottom of the stone stage, he immediately found the socket said in the letter.

The size of the socket is almost the same as the shape of the gem. Dewey scratched his finger without hesitation, then dripped his blood on the gem.

After the gem was inserted into that socket, Dewey retreated involuntarily.

In the dark secret room, a powerful light suddenly appeared on this square stone stage. This light illuminated the entire room until it became like daylight. The light made Dewey unable to open his eyes.

Then the light gathered, finally a single figure appeared on the stone stage.

This was not a real person but a shadow held together by light.

The size of the shadow like a real human. Dewey widened his eyes.

He suddenly realized something very important.

Semel who is a legendary necromancer, may also be a great magician. Because everything that happened and this shadow is definitely some kind of magic.

The light in the shadow slowly dimmed, eventually the intensity of the light became acceptable to the naked eye.

Dewey could finally see a figure standing under the light beam.

A woman in red robes and white hair. His entire body was covered in bright red robes. Her face was very pretty, her gaze was gentle, both of those black eyes made Dewey feel magic.

“The one who opened the message, I am your ancestor, Semel Keira Rollin.” This shadow slowly said, “This is the last magic message I left before I died. This magic I left behind requires the crystal infused with my magic power, then the blood of the Rollin family descendant to open it. You can see this message, meaning you are a descendant of the Rollin family, then you can also get all my secrets.”

Dewey could not help but feel surprised to see the beautiful woman in front of him.

Storing a message for hundreds of years with magic. This magic ability has surpassed that of a magic master. Semel may have this ability.

“I don't know how long it took when you opened this message, nor do I know how much magic power I left in the crystal. So please listen carefully to my every utterance, as no magic power can activate this magic circle a second time.”

Shadow Semel said slowly.

Even if he knew that Semel was not a real person, just a shadow left behind, Dewey nodded.

“The first thing I have to explain is, this thing I left for you will bring a lot of benefits, but it may also bring a lot of trouble. Because no one knew of my invention, other than my husband. The person who opened this message, you can get here, then definitely understand about astrology. At least understand the stars. First, I have to tell you the most important thing, which is that all the astrologers in this world are wrong. They're all wrong.

Because astrology is definitely not a superficial thing to predict the future just through star changes. Although now everyone thinks that astrologers are just a kind of prophecy. But I will tell you that astrology is actually a kind of powerful and deep magic.

The astrologer should not only be regarded as a scholar of astrology, nor should he just be regarded as a superficial prophet.

A true necromancer possessed great power comparable to any magician.

Witches could borrow the power of rain, storms, fire, and all the forces of nature. So, why can't necromancers borrow the power of stars?

We necromancers can even go further. Because I found a power that forever cannot be mastered by witches, which is law!”
