Demon Laws
Chapter 5: The Witch Idiot

Clark was satisfied with the boy's reaction. He looked at the crystal ball in his hand. “Here, let me see your talent. I promised your father I'd teach you, but first you must have magic talent. Otherwise..”.

Dewey. “What should I do?”

“Put your hand on the crystal ball and hold it tightly, then try to think of some fun or annoying things. In essence, use all possibilities to arouse your emotions.” Clark replied in a cranky tone. “Let me see your talent.”

Dewey took two steps forward, touching the crystal ball and grasping it tightly. It feels cold but slippery.

“Concentrate... now start thinking. Think of the things that are most memorable to you, irritating or fun.” Clark's serious voice ran through Dewey's ear.

Dewey closed his eyes, and his mind began to search for memory.

Clark watched as the crystal ball in hand emitted light bit by bit. The light was still dim at first, but it soon became bright.

Even the arrogant witch could not help but show some surprise. He looked at the crystal ball then Little Dewey in front of him, inevitably voicing ‘eh?’

Dewey's feeling is not good at the moment. He felt his emotions being triggered, vaguely recalling the past. He came to a world. Everything in his previous life - ideals, dreams, life, pursuits - became empty.

And the longer he was here, the more he adapted to this world, his memories of the past became slowly blurred. Even if the memories of humans would disappear over time, it was natural. However, this still made Dewey feel very, very sad.

Dream butterfly Zhuang Zhou - Ancient Chinese philosopher. Do I live in a butterfly dream or do I dream of seeing a butterfly?

Dewey's breath slowly hunted. The aura of the power of the crystal ball seemed to expand his emotions. The heartbeat also made him feel an indescribable discomfort. His chest was as if squeezed by something.

A cold hand finally pressed down on his head, then coolness flowed down from his forehead, forcing Dewey's already hot head to cool.

“Enough, My son.” Clark's voice was cold, but he changed the call ‘nak’ to ‘anakku’. It proves that the witch is satisfied with Dewey's talent.

“Good. I have to admit that this is pretty good. You are only a child less than 6 years old, but your magic talent is comparable to that of a magic disciple. Your spiritual power is also almost twice that of an ordinary person. Given your age, I am very satisfied with your talent.” The arrogant witch even commented a smile.

Strong spiritual power? Dewey smiled wryly in his heart. This may be because he has been ‘bereincarnated’ yet still has memories of his previous life, thus having the spiritual power of two lifetimes.

Witch Clark keeps a crystal ball, then instructs Dewey to sit down. “Now I need a second talent in the test. I'll teach you a little bit of the simplest and basic magic. I want you to meditate to feel the power of nature, then tell me how you feel.”

Dewey recalled the spell Clark had uttered. The simple and strange pronunciation sounds a little mysterious.

“Meditation with heart and concentration. This is the level that determines whether you can become a witch. Many people more talented than you fail at this level.”

“What do I need to do?” Dewey furrowed his brows.

“No need to do anything. You simply cast a spell and let your heart think, feel around. Feel it with the heart - cold, hot, or sound, anything. It's not difficult.”

Dewey did as instructed. He sat down and took a cross-legged position. That position made Clark feel refreshed. The witch then took out an hourglass from her gray robe, putting it aside to count the time.

Fine flowing sand. Little Dewey sat quietly for a long time. Finally, he opened his eyes and hesitated for a moment. “Master's...”.

“Yes? What do you feel?”

“I...” Dewey's a little helpless. “I feel hungry.”

“....”

The answer left Clark a little frustrated. This kid has an amazing talent for magic, but clearly doesn't have a soft heart that can feel the world.

The size of the magic power is important, but it is not the only criterion. Spiritual strength can also be gradually increased through meditation. People with strong spiritual power only have a slightly higher prefix than others.

Being able to sense the magic element in nature is the most important.

While the other disciples could hear the sound of wind above the sky when passing this level. Then the boy majored in wind magic.

One of Clark's most superior disciples, as he passed this level, he sat down and thought, then all the water in the vase in the room floated up and condensed into a ball of water the size of a fist.

In essence, people who are actually talented as magicians will experience various things when passing this level. However, Young Master Dewey who had good magic talent, was completely unenlightened.

This means she is not fit to be a witch.

Huft, it is a pity that the spiritual power that God gave him. If he could pass the test, his spiritual strength was already a little higher than the others at the beginning. Clark felt a little regretful, but this arrogant witch immediately put those feelings aside.

Huh, what use is spiritual power a little higher! Like fighting, a strong person cannot necessarily defeat a weak person. Then such a strong cow is not necessarily an opponent of the leopard.

It's just that it's unfortunate.

When he saw Witch Clark come out with a grim look, the Earl who waited a long time outside already knew the result.

And true.

“Sorry, Earl, your son has no talent for being a witch. It seems that God did not choose him. I think you should find another area of expertise for him.” Clark couldn't help but add. “I'm sorry for my sassness, but I've never seen someone like your son for thirty-six years researching magic.”

After that the Witch Clark sighed. Even without saying goodbye, he turned around and left. But just a few steps away, he suddenly remembered something. “Oh, if you insist on wanting her to be a witch, I suggest to choose pharmaceutical science. After all, medicinal witches are also one of the types of witches.”

Finished speaking, Witch Clark shook his hands and sprinkled the golden powder, then disappeared in flames.

The Earl was lost in thought, the look on his face darkened. At this moment Dewey walked out of the room and looked at the Earl in silence.

Raymond sat with his son at a glance. He sighed without saying anything, but the disappointment on his face was revealed without needing to be spoken.

“I've never seen someone like your son for thirty-six years.

Hm, like what? Stupid people? An idiot? A moron? Someone who has no talent at all?

Earl sighed in despair inwardly.

The words of the Witch Clark that were not resolved due to her arrogance clearly made the Earl misunderstand.

Actually the witch wanted to say, “People who have extraordinary magic talent but do not feel the magic element of nature are a contradictory combination.”

However, the results and facts instead make Earl conclude that ‘his son is indeed an idiot’.

To be honest, the old scholar Roseate and the Witch Clark must take responsibility for the misunderstanding that occurred due to the ambiguous delivery of words.

Although Dewey had no talent for being a magician, he was certainly not an idiot. Quite the contrary. Since his spiritual power was slightly higher than the others, this made him smarter than others. Excellence in spiritual power makes his energy and memory stronger than others.

Such a person is instead labeled as ‘idiot’.

Dewey made an outstanding martial artist convinced that he had no talent for learning martial arts, then made an educated scholar go toe-to-toe, lastly made a famous witch leave disappointed.

As a result, all this made the nobles in the imperial capital more interested in the little idiot from the Rollin family. When educating their mischievous children, some nobles will encourage their children with words, “Soddly you should not be more stupid than that little idiot from the Rollin family!”

Dewey was taken as a negative role model.

How is the future of this Young Master? The matter haunts every member of the Rollin family, except Dewey himself.
