Dreams To Return: The God Of The Tower

Dreams To Return: The God Of The Tower
39. The Forgotten Memory

The cold air that pierced his skin managed to wake him from a deep sleep huh. A blue-haired boy with sleepy eyes awakens from his warm bed, little Novan then looks towards the door of his now-open room.

Novan walked towards the door and was about to re-lock it but from behind the door a pale brown haired woman appeared and smiled at him. "Thin!" Novan shouted in delight and the figure immediately gave him a gesture of silence.

Dutifully Novan covered his mouth and nodded, making the figure then smile happily and pulled Novan's hand out of his room. Instead of being greeted by a dark, gloomy hallway, now in front of the eyes of Novan there is only a stretch of white forest, above which the star-filled night sky stretches wide.

"Welcome to Astral, Novan"

The figure changed its form into a black-haired little boy with golden eyes and then took Novan around. White forests that shine at night and strange figures that appear everywhere do not make Novan know to run to enjoy the amazing night scenery.

The figure of a creepy figure behind the trees did not dare to approach but slowly some of them then approached the two children and played with them.

"It seems that you really like playing with ghosts huh" the voice of a black-robed man with a hat on it smiled towards Novan.

"What if you just stay here?"

.

.

.

Novan now finds himself lying on a patch of green grass and under a star-filled night sky. "What was that... A memory I forgot?" Nova muttered and then woke up.

"It's not Ephemeral.. Astral?" Novan stared at the scenery around him with confused and astonished eyes. "How can I be here... What happened"

"Calm down, son, I just invited you because I missed you" a figure that Novan recognized was now sitting on a chair and in front of him snacks and tea cups filled with warm tea water were presented neatly. "Sit down, let's talk for a while" Hopeless invited Novan to sit down and then Novan said.

"You must be confused, but you also feel familiar with this place, right?"

"Actually.. What happened?"

"You must remember that, right? Your childhood" Hopeless put down her tea cup and then pulled the paper covering her face. "you spent all your childhood here" the man's face looked handsome with a sharp look on his face that looked firm and on the side of his lips a scar was visible.

"So you mean, the reason I disappeared from the 'tale' I was supposed to be acting on was because I was here? What does that mean.you're a god?" Novan looked at Hopeless with suspicious eyes, while Hopeless only smiled gently and sipped her tea quietly like a father facing his son.

"Your words are not wrong but they are not true. I'm a former god"

"Former gods? Sorry but I don't understand.."

The man smiled once more and looked towards the stars in the sky. "What do you think the god is? More precisely what do the constellations you call gods actually do?" Hopeless asked with eyes that exuded warmth and tenderness.

"... An existence formed because of a story.."

"That's exactly how we live. The more our stories are known and our names are remembered the stronger our existence."

"That means are you a forgotten god?" Tanya Novan hesitated.

"No, rather I'm someone who was deliberately wiped out by the world." the man's eyes showed a certain amount of sadness and anger at the same time. "The point is that I am now nothing more than a soul without an identity. I am the one guarding this place, the spiritual dreamland: Astral" he smiled with dignity and looked warmly at Novan.

"Nature a spiritual dream?"

"Yes, this is where nature is the gateway for every spirit to enter the dream world"

"Wait it means this is the limiting realm between reality and dreams?!"

"Just right, once you cross this realm you'll wake up from your dreams. But of course what really happened wasn't that simple, you couldn't get out of this dream world right now"

Novan looked at Hopeless with eyes that emitted a flurry and then asked "why? Why can't it?".

Hopeless sighed for a moment and then looked at Novan with a serious look "before that sit down first and drink, surely you are thirsty" Hopeless said and then resumed his sentence "because the gods have closed the exit of this world. It means that not a single human soul can escape from dreamland for now" he replied with a hand holding his teacup.

"Novan, as I said. The gods got stronger when many people knew and remembered his name, but the human world had changed a lot. The humans had already distrusted the old tales and existences of the ancient gods. The longer the power of the gods is also the more it cannot be used to control the human world..

"They then look for other ways to satisfy their sense of boredom and finally they find this world, the dream world. A place where sleeping human souls stop for a while and witness the imaginary world formed from their subconscious.

"This world was just an abstract world led by 4 dream gods. But now as you know, everything has been controlled by another world god.." Hopeless put down her tea and then looked at the sky with a sad face. Meanwhile, Novan also put the tea he drank.

"Then..what happened to the dream gods? Isn't Fobetor also a dream god? The other 3 gods are.. Morpheus, Fantasos and the god of sleep, Hypnos ..?"

Hopeless smiled with grief and sadness in her eyes emanated clearly.

"𝗦𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗻𝘆𝗮 𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗸𝗮 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗮𝗵 𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗱𝗮"

Novan rounded his eyes and at that moment the figure of Fobetor and Morpheus in him was clearly reflected in his mind. Their voices and figures that Novan remembered were reflected like distorted images.

"No way... Ta, but clearly Morpheus and Fobetor still exist"

"Are you sure they're the ones you're referring to? They may not be their real selves.."

Novan froze in silence and cold sweat poured out from his temple along with the pain and dizziness that struck his head.

"What did you do to me?!"

Novan slowly realized that there was something in the tea that he was drinking and the man named Hopeless just fell silent with a smile. When Novan tried to grab the man's collar a snake emerged from his hand and hallucinations covered his eyes.

Now all Novan sees is a star-filled night sky and thousands of heartbreaking cries, as if the past that haunts him is now getting stronger. And the voice of the man whispered in his ear.

"Are you sure those in front of you are really people you know?"

"Damn it! What are you doing-"

"𝑵𝒐𝒗𝒂𝒏, 𝒔𝒆𝒌𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒈 𝒍𝒊𝒉𝒂𝒕𝒍𝒂𝒉 𝒂𝒑𝒂 𝒚𝒂𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒂𝒉 𝒌𝒂𝒖 𝒍𝒖𝒑𝒂𝒌𝒂𝒏.. "

Novan's gaze slowly changed and before him there was now only a stretch of human corpses. While on top of the corpse the gods stared from above the sky and then 4 pieces of light fell from that sky.

In his presence now, Novan sees the four dream gods losing their powers. And from the pieces of their power it then fell into a light that spread out in all directions, laughter rang out from the gods and along with that the sound of Hopeless resounded in his head.

"War between gods and mortals had aborted them, a cunning victory sided with the gods and shamelessly they took the position of dream coordinator and monopolized this world. The gods lied to the four dream gods, saying that humans would soon rebel and destroy this dream world.but in reality it was just a ruse to pit sheep"

"The dream gods have been deceived by slander and they fall into scattered pieces of energy in every corner of the dreamland"

"Now there is nothing left of them except the strength of their souls..."

Novan saw the four gods disappear and a young man grasping a single piece of Morpheus' power. Again Novan saw himself standing with empty eyes.

And then Fobetor's speech was heard clearly inside Novan's head.

"Son Morpheus always changes his form, no one knows his true self, so when I feel his aura from your body I think Morpheus' brother finally made it back into his human form"

Fobetor's words flashed through his mind, about how he had no body and had to make a pact with him. And when he remembered the figure of Morpheus who was lying in a dead seat made Novan now aware.

That from the beginning both were neither living beings nor souls without bodies. Rather they were just pieces of strength left behind by their original figure. It might even be possible that Fobetor did not realize that he was just a piece of his former strength.

Slowly a smiling Hopeless figure appeared before him and with a smile he raised his hat, revealing both black horns that were on top of his head.

"𝑱𝒂𝒅𝒊 𝒃𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒂 𝒓𝒂𝒔𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒂 𝒎𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒑𝒖𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒏 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒕𝒂𝒎𝒂𝒎𝒖?"
