Dreams To Return: The God Of The Tower

Dreams To Return: The God Of The Tower
77. A Hope

"We want you to help us lock the gods up" Compassion Missiony cut off Novan's words, making the young man now round his eyes in shock "But before that you had to make a lot of preparations...".

"Novan, will you be a demigod?"

The question made Novan speechless before he laughed "me? Being a demigod like you? Don't joke" his red eyes that radiated hatred and anger seemed to shine brightly "how could I be a part of such a pretentious creature as you" but instead of the wrath of the Compassion Missioner nodded in agreement.

"True, if I were you too I would say the same thing" the Compassion Mission's behavior left Novan confused "they said that they were the pinnacle of the world's rulers, and that they were the ultimate, the founder of light and a noble figure than any other creature. Some of them still have darkness in their hearts. You're really such a goddamn saintly creature like them sucks..."

"Therefore I want you to stand with us, we are not in light or darkness, we gods of legend or abstract just want to watch the world go as it should. We are guarding not ruling or making the world"

The words slightly built up Novan's trust in the figure. "So you mean I'm your spearhead and you're gonna support me?"

"You could say so... Of course we're not that active. You're free to do anything, and we'll give you a lead with some marks. Because it will be troublesome if it comes down directly and helps you face threats"

Novan nodded in understanding and then a strange energy current surged in the air. "It seems that my time is not much, well I'll give you the first clue" Compassion Missioner then walked through the air and looked at Novan's back which now had a luminous incision "if you don't get rid of this light immediately then you'll lose it all" Novan understands what it means to lose it all, meaning that it will die and all its endings will repeat themselves to zero again.

"There is only one way out to remove the light, which is to come to a world where light never touches it" after Compassion Mission said it melted into star fragments and slowly began to move back in time.

Novan stared at the missing star and turned towards the sunlight that appeared from the east. "The place where the light never touches it.... I'm sure I know where that place is".

The morning came quickly and Novan then walked into the fort along with the others.

Disasters are really messing up all over the place, a lot of casualties are falling and a lot of people are losing their purpose to live. The air no longer felt fresh, the roar of monsters sounded every few minutes and when someone came out of the safe zone then there were only two fates for them, eaten by monsters or starved to death.

The safe zone, it's just a parable for a safe place and magic protection. And now the only safe place in the ruined kingdom of Abyudara is in a fortress close to the rock cliffs, a black fortress that stood firm for several centuries it was the place where Samuel, who was, Nikolai and Novan first met, a place where people with round memories or reality lives.

"A long time ago, I brought you here to meet Nikolai... Now he's no more..." Samuel drank his tea and Novan could only stare at the wine glass in front of him. The two were at the bar they had been to to meet Nikolai, but now only Novan ordered the alcoholic drink and he had not touched it. While Samuel seems to be unfeeling, he doesn't seem to want to touch alcohol to keep his mind clear.

"I didn't think you owned this place" Novan finally spoke and Samuel then laughed softly.

"And I don't think you're a lunatic willing to invest an incredible fortune for this place. As you wish I used the money to fortify the fortress and gather a lot of food" all the money produced by Mammon and Kinan was sent regularly to the fort for several months with some requirements in the form of improved aspects such as fort resistance and food supplies.

To be honest Samuel was confused as to who was the madman who was willing to spend so much money just for a fortress, but because he got a hint from the god Vishnu to receive money and make that request now Samuel understood.

The fortress was shaped like a thick concrete wall with a hexagon shape and several watchtowers and attackers on several sides of the wall. In the middle of the fortress there is a settlement of residents that is quite spacious like an ancient city from ancient times, the appearance of the city can not be equated with the city in the kingdom of Abyudara which has now been destroyed. The classic and simple impression is still visible in that place, but of course there are some buildings that have different models.

"You are evacuating the people well... The number is much less than I expected" said Novan looking at the picture. His eyes then led to the window of the bar and there he saw a skyscraper that looked very unfamiliar with the atmosphere of the fort but felt familiar to him "is it the work of men who remember the world of reality?" Novan's guess made Samuel smile.

"It turns out you are sensitive yes. Yes it's a skyscraper that he says exists in the world of reality. Actually such a building would be very popular in the wake of advanced kingdoms but..."

"The gods made many excuses for such a building not to be built on their territory. Right?"

Samuel sighed and nodded "do you know the reason the gods confine the humans and make various 'stories' in this world?" Novan could have guessed it but he chose to listen "in addition to eliminating their boredom, the gods wanted to repeat civilization long ago - a time when they were still in worship and humans used spiritual reason in their every action. Because in the world of reality, humans have forgotten about gods and built advanced civilizations, so the gods do not want it to happen again here"

Novan then looked back at the building "so they hated anything smelling of the future? Stupid excuse" Novan stood up from his chair and he approached towards the glass, his hand covered by black gloves touched the glass and he then witnessed the beauty of the sunlight reflected from the windows of the skyscraper.

"The world of reality... I can't remember anything about it myself... Even who I am" Novan was silent for a moment and he then clenched his hands "and all because of the gods..."

"Then you can make yourself"

Samuel's suggestion made Novan now turn his body and look at Samuel with a confused look. "Do you know what this fortress means without all your help? Maybe this fort will collapse. But no, we can still survive thanks to your support" Samuel took a glass of wine belonging to Novan and he walked to the side of Novan "in other words this place indirectly still exists because of you, because of you, this place belongs to you now." Samuel gave her the wine and she smiled.

"You are the new ruler of this territory."

Samuel then opened the window that had been touched by Novan, he showed Novan a street scene that was now crowded by people who rejoiced to erase their sadness. "The road was always decorated by a hole and the horse-drawn carriage could not walk there, but now as you can see, not only that road but this fort underwent many renovations because of the funds you provided. And everyone is starting to know who is improving their lives.

"All the inhabitants of this fort immediately celebrated the arrival of the figure who had helped them, and you are the figure." Novan's eyes seemed to be transfixed by the excitement that radiated on the faces of the people down there, he did not expect he could make people happy with his action all this time, the thing he imagined was that humans might hate him because he was the main cause of the disaster, but now Novan does not know what humans think he is or not.

"But... I'm the cause of all this-"

"Without you, disaster will still happen, because the fact is not only you who fight to free the world. There are still many people out there who want freedom and you are part of it..."

"So please don't blame yourself for the cruel fate that befell you"

Samuel's words made Novan completely silent, his eyes kept staring at the street and then he saw Fobetor seeming to wave his hand along with Morpheus who was holding a grilled corn. A smile appeared on Novan's face and he put his wine glass down and jumped out of the window, Samuel could only stare at Novan coming down from the window with a pair of sturdy and beautiful eagle wings. Behind Samuel the figure of a god was glimpsed.

"With this I hope you can calm down, god Vishnu" Samuel took Novan wine and then drank it and slowly the figure of the god behind him disappeared along with the golden flute that was on Samuel's waist, this means that Vishnu is no longer the god of Samuel.
