Dreams To Return: The God Of The Tower

Dreams To Return: The God Of The Tower
67. Guiding the King Candidate (4)

"Why Nik? Shouldn't you be?" I stopped my steps and then looked confusedly at Fobetor, even though I thought he would be targeted first.

"What do you mean?!" Fobetor hissed and nearly strangled my neck before shouting.

"Of course they're after Nik! Because Nik is the future successor to the Elf light king!!"

I fell silent and now realized that it was not strange why Morpheus took such an interest when I said I wanted to know the real identity of Nik "ah so yes! It's fitting that Morpheus asked that, because he knew my previous round must be me who used to know Nik's identity..." I muttered alone and then a question came to my mind.

Because now his subconscious is not guarded by Morpheus can I go in there?

Without saying a word I took my dagger and pointed it at my stomach "a-what do you want to do?!" Fobetor shouted loudly beside my ear and when the dagger almost hit my stomach, right at that moment I again saw another figure of myself. Now he was standing among the shadows of the trees with a torn robe and a face full of wounds, his colored eyes staring at me and then walking away.

My feet reflexively moved in the direction he was headed, this strange usually shadow that would come to me as if haunting me but somehow now he seemed to want to show something. I followed him until he disappeared behind a large dead tree. My head became painful and the shadow of the dead tree for a while turned into a shady tree that was emitting golden leaves, as if the old memory and the current were clashing against each other.

"Hey are you okay? Your face turned pale! We better find the others soon!"

I shook my head, though I could not fully hear what Fobetor was saying because now all that was heard in my ear was the sound of dozens of voices whispering. I recognized that voice as my own, the voice of myself that had failed for hundreds of times in each round. The voices only mentioned one name which made me then stare at the tree closely.

"Fantasus"

Just a moment after I said that name the figure of an old elf came out from behind a tree and looked at me with eyes that let out tears of "hero..." His green eyes were staring at me and his feet were about to run towards me but the stick that supported his body then fell down making him fall to the ground "hero! Heroes!" He still called the name towards me, made me then approach him.

"Save him..." He took my hand and asked me for help. His eyes then looked up at the tree and spoke again "save our god" he said, leaving me speechless.

Elves are not god-worshipping creatures, they love nature and think the earth is their mother and hate humans who destroy the earth. Elves are divided into two elements not because they are on the side of darkness and light but in the two elements of positive and negative energy. But this is the basis of knowledge of the world of reality.

The world that I live in now is a dream world, must be different from the rules in the world of reality. But at least I now understood what this old elf was about to say, I stared at the tree and my eyes found a golden anchor that looked very dry. Fobetor came down from my neck and moved down around the tree and found the same foliage. The more Fobetor surrounded him the more he put on a sad and panicked expression, his snake tail scattering some dry foliage covering the rocks shaped like an altar and he kept going around.

"Impossible... This place." his snake eyes stared at the dead tree trunk and took turns looking at me.

"So yes, this is the world tree?" I asked and Fobetor then immediately moved towards me, as if to ask me to do something but I am only human "if you ask me to save this tree then forget it. I'm only human" Fobetor looked at me with a disappointed look, but at least I told him the truth and he understood the reason.

I'm strong but that doesn't mean I can do anything, resurrect a dead living thing that's out of my control. "I'm sorry grandfather, I'm not the hero who can save him" I laid the old man's body against the tree trunk and then tried to smile, but in the end I could only look at him with a guilty look. The grandfather seemed to close his eyes as if asleep but from his tear-covered eyelids still continued to drip.

The feeling of anger and guilt seemed to burden me but somehow I could not do anything. Fobetor was silent in his place, he just stared at the tree, the tree that was once the center of the dream world now looked smaller and lifeless like a dead tree. I let him reflect and then walked back in the direction I had to go.

After I had not found Morpheus I captured a Dark Elf and forced him to show me where their base was until finally here I was. Standing among the big, towering trees while hiding in the darkness of the shadow that was my superiority. In front of me there the light elves including Nik and Kaleid appeared to be held captive.

"It's a lot worse than I thought" my eyes stared at a beautiful girl standing on a black throne, it seemed like she was the half-human child that Fobetor was talking about. Beside him a fair-looking young man appeared to be accompanying him, he was not an elf but a human, just by looking at the interaction between the two made me know how this bia happened. "The more it looks the more interesting..." I went down into the bushes and hid myself in the darkness.

"Haha of course, this is all thanks to you. I don't know what will happen if you don't help us, maybe forever we'll continue to be under the Light Elves as you say" the princess smiled sweetly and then looked towards the light Elves with an arrogant look. "You're our savior, and I'm so grateful to see you"

"I'm also grateful to have met you..." The young man looked at the woman with an affectionate gaze but deep within his eyes a darkness was visible, his sweet smile was so alluring to the woman that without the woman realizing it was possible that the young man had another purpose.

Well whatever it is I don't care, I think I'll throw up if this continues.

"So you guys are the root of the problem in this place apparently..." I stood behind them, making the two people then startled and immediately ordered their subordinates to attack.

"How did any intruders get to this place?!"

"What are you guys doing?! Catch her!"

A smile formed on my face, this is going to be fun. "So you guys want to play with the shadows? then I'll show you!" An arrow surrounded by poison and aura of negative energy shot towards me every time I ran and fused with the darkness.

I want to get this over with, but I can't just hurt them. I increased my speed and in an instant disappeared from their sight, their eyes tracing towards the darkness of the forest without knowing I was now directly above the iron bars that locked the Light Elves away. "Mr Novan!" Nik and Kaleid called my name and I gave them a silent gesture.

"alright now how can I destroy this?"

"You can't destroy it, these bars are made of such powerful dark magic, a human like you won't be enough to destroy it" An elf wearing a robe and a crown spoke to me, saying,, his face that remained calm despite being in a critical condition like this had explained that it was the king of the light elves, the biological father of Nik.

"i also hope so, too, it's a pity that I'm not fully human" I know I shouldn't be blessed like this when I admitted a while ago that I was just an ordinary human being, but when I saw that there were humans who could deceive and destroy the friendship between the two Elven camps made me a little annoyed. "Because I am the one who will destroy the gods" Black butterflies shot out from my shadow and brightly headed towards the dark elves, absorbing their negative strength and energy and channeling it to me.

Dark energy enveloped me, this was the first time I tried to suck the life energy of another being with my own consciousness and I could feel the darkness as if trying to devour myself as well. The bodies of some elves fell together with the frightened gazes of all the elves "Please don't blame me for this karma you received, consider this a punishment for you who reneged on your promise to your fellow nation" Heartbreaking cries and cries rang out as the few Dark Elves began to be devoured by my dark butterflies.

This is the power that Hades gave me, the power to take the lives of other creatures and get their energy into my power. But of course this power has its own consequences, the more energy I receive the stronger the darkness will devour me. My vision began to turn red as if I was now watching what I saw not from my own eyes.

"Run! everybody run!"

"Just be free"

Wherever their steps ran my black butterflies flew faster than their steps. Fear, regret, and helplessness clearly burst into the air until finally a red dragon came and tried to stop me.

"Righten yourself, Novan!"

At that moment the only thing that was clearly visible in my eyes was the figure of myself from the previous round and the voice of Morpheus calling out to me. Time seemed to stop and that's when I got my 66th spin memory.
