Jenson patted the shoe into her palm. Bruno, with his tongue stretched out, smirked at him. “School compliance.”
“Oh, Jenson, we can't get our son to leave just like that.” The cheek of Jenson. “It's just a phase.”
“This phase I have to pay for with two pairs of shoes, my dinner, and we have not found my warm clothes dragged.”
“You shouldn't drop your clothes on the floor,” Rachel said lightly. “Again the warm clothes were already taken. I'm sure Bruno thinks it's rag.”
“She never chews on stuff that belongs to you.”
Rachel smiled. “Never, right?”
Jenson stared at him for a long time. “What makes you so happy?”
“Sore this I got a phone.”
Jenson sees the excitement in Rachel's eyes and decides that the shoe issue can wait. “Dan?”
“From Jacob Morison.”
“Si producer?”
“Si producer,” reset Rachel. He had promised himself not to overreact, but the excitement threatened to overflow within him. “He will make a new film. Star Jessica Miland.”
Jessica Miland, look at Jenson. Actress in a theatre and big screen. Eccentric and brilliant, his career has been buana for two generations. “He is retired. Miland hasn't played a movie since five years ago.”
“He will be playing in this movie. Billy Mitchell will direct it.”
Jenson tilted her head while thinking, looking at Rachel's face. It made him think about cats and canaries. “Sounds they want to go all-out.”
“He will play a half-crazy countess who withdraws and is brought back to the real world by his grandson. Cassiy will play the role of the grandson.”
“Now, are you going to tell me why Morison called you?”
“Miland is one of my admirers. He wanted me to design all his jewelry in the movie. Everyone!” After trying to sound like “bisnis”, Rachel chuckled and spun quickly. “Morison says that the only way she can persuade Miland to quit retirement is by promising him the best. Miland wants me.”
Jenson grabbed Rachel and twisted her body. Bruno ran around the room barking and shaking the tables. “We'll celebrate,” the breakup. “Sampagne with our fried chicken.”
Rachel held on tight. “I feel like a fool.”
“Why?”
“I've always considered myself, well, far from the admiration of a star. I'm a professional.” Filled with excitement, the presence of Jenson. “Then I spoke to Morison, I told myself that it was a good career opportunity, a very good opportunity to express myself in a great way. Then I hung up and all I could think about was Jessica Miland! Morison Production! I feel so silly.”
“Proves that you are not as arrogant as you think.” Jenson cuts his words with a kiss. “I'm proud of you,” murmured.
That statement broke into Rachel's defense. All the excitement in the assignment became dwarfed with just that one sentence. No one but Robert had ever revealed his pride to her. His parents loved him, patted him on the head and told him he had better do what he wanted. Pride is more value imposed on affection. “Really?”
Amazed, Jenson hugged her and kissed her again. “Of course.”
“But you didn't think much of my work.”
“Yeah.” Rachel took a deep breath. “Today is a happy day. I always thought that you felt I was playing around with beads because I didn't want to face the real job. You even said that.”
Jenson grinned. “Just because it can make you angry. You look spectacular when you're angry.”
Rachel thought about it for a while, then sighed. “I think it's the right time to tell you.”
Jenson stiffened, but forced her voice to sound calm. “Tell me what?”
“I watch Ammy Awards every time you get nominated.”
The tension melted in the man's laughter. There is guilt in every syllable. “What?”
“Every time,” reset Rachel, amazed will her cheeks turn warm. “My feelings are always happy every time I watch you win. Dan...” It stops to cleared his throat. “I've watched a few episodes of Logan’s Run.”
Jenson wonders if Rachel realizes that she sounds like she's confessing a great disgrace. “Why?”
“Grandfather has always liked him, I've even heard him discuss your series at parties. So I thought I'd see it myself.”
Jenson cut off the answer by knocking out his wife's ear. “Some people only tell the truth if it is under pressure.”
“Good.” Half laughing, Rachel tried to break free. “Your film is good!” He screamed as Jenson did not let go of the jewel. “I like it.”
“Why?”
“Jenson, pain!”
“I have ways to make you talk.”
“I like it because the characters are original, the plot is smart. And..” Rachel must swallow for this one, “...punya style.”
When Jenson took off her window and peed at her, she pushed Jenson half-heartedly. “If you repeat it to someone else, I will deny it.”
“It will be our little secret.” Jenson kissed him again, this time no kidding.
Rachel was almost used to the sensation of weakness of her muscles and felt as if her bones were being broken. He moved closer, rejoicing in the feeling of clutching Jenson's body tightly. As Jenson's heart thumped, Rachel felt her beat inside herself. As Jenson's small groan came out, she felt it with her tongue. As the sense of need overflowed, he saw it in Jenson's eyes.
He frowned Jenson's lips again and allowed his own thirst to reign. There will be consequences. Didn't he accept it first? There will be pain. He has strengthened himself for that. He cannot stop what will happen in the weeks to come, but he can direct what will happen tonight and maybe tomorrow. That should be enough. Everything he felt, wanted, feared, poured out on the kiss.
The kiss surprised Jenson. Rachel is often passionate, wild. The girl is often demanding, erotically. But Jenson never felt such pure emotion from her. There is a kind of softness behind that power, a demand behind an urgent need. Jenson clings to her tighter, softer than she has always been, and lets Rachel take what she wants.
Rachel's head was tilted back, inviting, seductive. Jenson tightened her grip. His fingers were thrust into the woman's hair and lost in its thickness. He felt the need crawl through his body so much that he stiffened up against Rachel's sudden and unexpected submission. Rachel never turned herself in, and before this time Jenson didn't know how exciting it was to find Rachel doing that. Without thinking about the time and place, they dropped themselves onto the sofa.
