Miscellaneous Lam:

1. لاَمُ حَرْفِ الْجَرِّ

Example:

هَذَا الْكِتَابُ لِمُؤْمِنٍ 

(This book belongs to a mu’min)

هَذَا الْكِتَابُ لِمُؤْمِنَيْنِ 

(This book belongs to two of your people’min)

هَذَا الْكِتَابُ لِمُؤْمِنِيْنَ 

(This book belongs to your people’min)

2. لاَمُ كَيْ

Example:

خُلِقْتَ لِتَعْبُدَ اللهَ 

(You were created to worship God)

خُلِقْتُمَا لِتَعْبُدَا اللهَ 

(The two of you were created so that you both worship God)

خُلِقْتُمْ لِتَعْبُدُوْا اللهَ 

(All of you were created so that all of you might worship God)

3. لاَمُ الْجُحُوْدِ

Example:

مَا كَانَ الْمُسْلِمُ لِيَشْرَبَ الْخَمْرَ 

(Not a Muslim will drink khamr)

(Not will the two Muslims be angry with each other)

مَا كَانَ الْمُسْلِمُوْنَ لِيَتْرُكُوْا الصَّلاَةَ 

(Not will the Muslims leave the prayer)

4. لاَمُ الأَمْرِ

Example:

لِيَدْخُلْ فِى الْمَسْجِدِ 

(Let him enter the mosque)

لِيَدْخُلاَ فِى الْمَسْجِدِ 

(The two of them should enter the mosque)

لِيَدْخُلُوْا فِى الْمَسْجِدِ?

(All of them should enter the mosque)

5. لاَمُ التَّوْكِيْدِ

Example:

لَيَدْخُلُ فِى الْمَسْجِدِ 

(He will enter the mosque)

لَيَدخُلاَنِ فِى الْمَسْجِدِ 

(They will both enter the mosque)

لَيَدْخُلُوْنَ فِى الْمَسْجِدِ 

(They will all enter the mosque)
