In Arabic grammar, Isim is classified into Mudzakkar (male) or Muannats (female). This classification is in accordance with the sex (for humans and animals) and some is a classification in language only (for objects and others).
Example of Isim Mudzakkar * Example of Isim Muannats :
⁇ (\= ‘Isa)
⁇ untu (\= Maryam)
⁇ (\= prince)
⁇ (\= princess)
⁇ umbai (\= bull) ⁇ (\= cow)
⁇ untu (\= sea)
⁇ (\= wind)
a) Ta Marbuthah ( ⁇ ). For example: ⁇ ⁇ (\=Fathimah), ⁇ (\=school)
b) Alif Maqshurah ( ⁇ ). For example: ⁇ ⁇ (\=Salma), ⁇ (\=sweet)
c) Alif Mamdudah (File ). For example: ⁇ ⁇ (\=Asma’), ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ (\=blonde)
But there are Isim Muannats who do not use the above signs.

There are even some Isim Mudzakkar who use Ta Marbutha.
Example: ⁇ (\= Hamzah), ⁇ (\= Thalhah), ⁇ (\= Muawiyah)
