Semester Mid-Test. Yup. Who does not hate exams? The exam is troublesome, but inevitably we still have to follow it if we want to pass. That's why I hate exams. This week we have the Semester Mid-Test
conducted simultaneously by all students of Lixorth Academy. For first-year students, the Mid-Semester Exam is only valid for the written exam. All practice subjects do not have a UTS schedule because teachers prefer to test their students practice skills desperately in the Final Semester Exam later.
I'm starting to regret why I'm here.
Luckily, today is the last day UTS was held. I was in Class B on the 3rd floor of the Lixorth Academy's Classroom. The only building used for theoretical learning in the academy. Especially if we have joined a team, later we only get lessons according to our type of magic. No more big and public classes. The system is like a faculty and a major in college.
“Examination of Ancient Witchcraft subjects is troublesome!” moaning Helen folded up the scrap paper she used to compose the ancient words before she filled out the exam answer sheet. Face's tangled. It's not usually Helen this sweet. Even during UTS, he did not stop giving words of encouragement to me who was too stressed. Now he's the one who's lost his spirit.
“Agree.” I muttered. We walked down the stairs manually, not flying on a broom. Oh, yeah, of course. You guys must know that, right? Cannot fly in the room. This sounds like a joke in the human world, but in the wizarding world believe me it ever happened. The children flew across the room one to the other with brooms and everything was chaotic.
The second and first floors began to be crowded by second-year seniors who were preparing to take their ultimate theory exam today. All the disciples of the five squads blended into one within the building. I saw all sorts of sparkling pins from every student that passed me towards the stairs. Some of them seem confident and some prefer not to care about exams. They were busy joking even though they were opening the magic ledger.
“Savanna where?” helen asked, looking back and forth to find our roommate amid the second year students milling around the corridor.
“Now, maybe he went straight to his study club.” Answer me as it is. Actually not as it is. This past week, Savanna said she's been spending a lot of time studying with her study club. They always study in the library until late at night, no matter what they do. They can gossip instead of studying, right?
Hearing that, Helen stopped looking. “True also.”
Finally, we walked out of the Lixorth Academy Learning Building and got away from those noisy seniors. Outside the situation is much calmer. Helen and I hurried off to get our broomstick. Funny thing is, instead of a car park, the academy provides a broom parking lot. The place is like a bicycle parking lot, only it is used for a broom.
Helen and I flew across the hill towards the cafeteria of the public dormitory. This cafeteria was built next to the men's dormitory which was right across from the girls' dormitory. That's right, it's a new kids-only cafeteria. Although some seniors also often come and take lunch or dinner here.
After parking my broom in the girls dorm parking lot, Helen and I walked straight to the cafeteria. It was already 2 pm, but this cafeteria was not too crowded with students. Maybe because the second grade senior was undergoing an exam. I don't know. We walked past the cafeteria and climbed up the stairs to the second floor used as the Student Center. Usually small student activities such as studying or gathering are done here. So too with today.
Some of my friends have gathered there. Some were holding back their sleepiness while leaning against the wall, some were frenzied about the matter of the test earlier, and some were even cool playing cards in the corner of the room.
We decided to join the side of the children who were holding back their sleepiness. They must have stayed up late to study the test today. While I was busy watching movies in my room and studying potluck. Of course, there are some things I can't fill. I was just tired and saturated with all the things that were happening in the academy at the same time.
“Only stay the ambis club, right, who has not come?” gabriel asked all the students who were there. Some of them answered lazily and tiredly. If I did, as long as there were still people replying, I wouldn't bother to get in the chat.
“Oi, Helen and Alison, can you guys call Savanna?” call Gabriel who is sitting on the other side of the room. His voice was loud and a little intimidating. He always thought he was the head of our army. Even though there is no instruction from the seniors if we are required to choose the chairman of the force, after all we will be separated into various squads in the second year.
“Maybe in the library?” Helen answered a little hesitantly. While I just shrugged and shook my shoulders.
Gabriel exhaled. He looked around trying to find someone else. “Matilda? Can you call your roommate? Lenna or Yara? We should start the class meeting.”
It took me fifteen minutes until I could see that gang of learning clubs popping up at the mouth of the door. Perhaps this was the third time I had fallen asleep for a few minutes, then got up and went to sleep again while waiting for them.
Savanna, Yara, Lenna, and Dominic walked in casually. Dominic and Yara carry their large backpacks and desperately search for a narrow gap in the middle of the other children who are already sitting in line. Savanna had seen me and Helen, she seemed to think she should sit near us, but then Lenna pulled her arm and
they sit in the front row. Totally against Gabriel.
“Well, you guys sure know what we're going to do tomorrow.” Gabriel opened this force meeting. He did look confident speaking and leading us up ahead. next “Orientation, heading to Gamma and Delta.”
At first we didn't realize the strange thing about Gabriel's statement, but after that the atmosphere started boisterous. Me, one of them. We should have just visited Gamma and Delta would have been the next place, which is next month. During this time, the orientation of the visit was exciting because I could see the headquarters of each squad directly from close by. But, it's really exhausting. We always have a tough job with them. Especially when we visited Beta Castle . I have to go back to the dorm in a bonyok.
“Senior says that Delta will hold an academy exit practice exam next month. So, they ordered us to come a month early.” Gabriel continued, he was not at all affected by the tumult of the atmosphere.
“That means we have to do double duty!” complained one of the students.
“Can't we apply for waivers? We just finished UTS.”
“True.”
Gabriel was silent for a moment to give his friends some time to let out their grunts and vent their irritation. He looks like Mathias. If I was fiery angry about something, Mathias would do the same. He knew that over time I myself would stop babbling because I was tired. Ah, nevermind. I don't want to think about Mathias right now. I need to focus on school.
“It seems their decision is already round. Meredith Camden and Patrick Hackett have also agreed to the adjustment of this schedule.” Gabriel returned. Very amusing. The class guardians Gamma and Delta agreed with this sudden schedule, even though the one who lived it was us. They never think about the safety of their people
student or what?
“So, it's useless if we reject this schedule, anyway this annoying schedule will still not change.” Continue Gabriel who was immediately replied to the complaints of other children. Me included. “Oh, yes, for tomorrow do not forget to wear a shoulder scarf as an orientation attribute. And for Helen, Savanna, and Alison, don't be late again. You guys too, right, are bothered.”
He's correct. The last time we were late, we had to fight against a crazy senior, Bodhi McCallen.
