Time goes by quickly. Very, very fast. In short I managed to live after surviving and arrived at the Semester Final Examination. There is no day without magic and old books. The practice exam was exhausting. I can be done in a state of life I'm happy.
The Final Semester exam has been completed as well as the improvement exam. Today, one week before the new year, means the day our grades are announced.
It's been over an hour that I and my classmates have been waiting in the hall of the Main Building of Lixorth Academy. The upper-class students were also here to gather with their classmates and seemed enthusiastic waiting for the announcement of this rank. Yeah, except for the Omega class kids. They were all busy joking and joking, even some of the Delta and Beta class children did not stop reprimanding and yelling at them to keep quiet.
Finally, after waiting for quite a while Master Elliott as the student teacher came to the hall wearing formal attire. I could only meet with Master Elliott a few times, usually he would appear at the academy's important events or if I was in punishment.
“Today is the announcement day of the rankings,” general Master Elliott without further ado. The entire hall was instantly silent even though there was no specific reprimand for silence. Master Elliott's terrifying aura was indeed above average. His eyes intimidate. “Log on. We start. You all went through the first semester well. Here are the first semester rankings of first year students.”
The projector screen suddenly lit up. There is a ranking of 70 first-year students from the topmost ranking to the final ranking. My eyes grew rapidly in search of the level at which my name was written. Whispers began to be heard from the senior students, of course for them we were just a scallion. After all, in addition to ranking, there are also listed results of our average value. So, it's true, it's a shame because it has to be witnessed by the seniors as well.
I counted in my heart while looking at each rank from top to end.
There aren't.
Deg
Wh why? Wait for. I have to start again. My head looked up automatically to go back to calculating and quickly researching every student's name listed there. One to twenty. Thirty to five
tens. Sixty until. Until sixty nine? My name does not exist. Impossible. Wh why? I'm not good at magic, but my academic grades should be fine. And again, I was not involved in any fatal breach of the rules other than being late at orientation at Beta Castle.
“Alison, your name?” Helen whispered in my ear that gave me goosebumps.
“Eh? Isn't our class of 70 students?” my friend responded while turning to me several times to make sure that I was still a student at the academy.
“I must protest,” murmured me while clenching my hands. Unknowingly I got up, my anger rose instantly. This is not fair.
Savanna who was sitting next to me pulled at me quickly, so fast that I hit my ass against the chair. “Wait a minute.”
“My name is none.” My fury tried to let go of Savanna's hand which turned out to be very strong. Where does he hide his physical strength?
“I know, but don't be rash. There may be a reason. Just wait.”
“There's a reason? What if the reason was that I was suddenly expelled from the academy? Though I, right, did not commit a gross violation!” my screams are starting to get impatient. Don't blame me if I'm grumpy because what's in my brain is the silhouette of Father and Mother who were disappointed and pulled me by force to go to Norway. If I get kicked out of the academy, Norway might come true. The academy no longer guarantees my condition.
“It's precisely because of that.” Savanna continued expressionlessly, even though her tone was completely calm. “You did not commit a fatal breach, there must be another reason. Calm down and wait.”
“First rank, Lenna Roberts, General Grade with average value 97.” Master Elliott continued with the sinister face without realizing that my name did not exist. How could he not realize anything?
A round of applause sounded. In the first-year children's seating area I also heard some of us congratulate Lenna on this achievement. I, anyway, don't want to. Why did my name disappear?
“Congratulations, Savanna. You're ranked second.” Helen thrust her arm giving a slightly formal speech. Savanna accepted her shake with a small smile. “I think I'm in the top twenty. Huft.”
“Rank twenty-six is not bad either,” Savanna said again.
I grumbled. What's my value?
Screen changing. Now the atmosphere was back to quiet by itself. This is what awaited. Now is the announcement of the second year students. The ratings they get give bonus points for each class. I'm sure many Alpha students who are ranked at the top so that the position of Alpha at the top will be difficult to shift or drop.
The names of the second year students appear along with the origin of the class and the average grades obtained. This time the atmosphere of the hall grew increasingly crowded. They pointed at each other while looking at the ratings plastered on the screen.
“First rank, Itzel O’Shea, Alpha Class with average value of 98.” Master Elliott opens his voice.
If not mistaken, Itzel O’Shea was one of the second-year students who had given us a short tutor when orientation at Manor Alpha some time ago. Thanks to his advice, a study group in our force was formed. Indeed, only the four people who never skipped studying together. The other students left the study group one by one each week.
“Last rank, Vance Salvador, Omega Grade with average value 65.” Continue Master Elliott. Automatically my gaze turned to the seats of the Omega class students and wondered how they would react, but they giggled instead. Luckily, Master Elliott did not announce the
Eh? Not me, huh? I am not in the rankings, automatically I must be in the last order.
“With this Alpha Class get bonus points 100 and Omega Class points reduction 100.”
100 Points and 100 points? Wow, the difference is pretty big.
The screen changed again and this time showed the acquisition of grades from the third year students. I tried to squint my eyes at the ranking order of the third year seniors.
“First rank, Maximillian Payton, Aplha Class with average value 97.”
Wow, the senior who gave the show a short while orientation, Max. He has an incredible talent for fire magic.
“Last rating, Valeria Brooker, Delta Class with average rating of 60. With this, Class Alpha gets bonus points of 100 and Class Delta points deduction of 100.”
This time I heard the disappointment from the students of the Delta class, while the Alpha Class children were just clapping with very, very ordinary facial expressions. It seemed that indeed for them to take over the first rank was not difficult.
“And for the last year, ranked first, Luciano Carlyle, Beta Class with an average score of 99. Last rating, Javion Litton, Beta Class with average grade 68.”
“Wih, I didn't expect Beta class to get both titles.” Helen said that while the mangosteen was very interested in seeing our senior rank.
After that, the screen changed again showing the points from each class. In the first position of course Alpha leads, then Beta, Gamma, Delta, and Omega in the last rank. Yep, according to what is expected.
Master Elliott seemed to give instructions to the students not to immediately leave the hall and return to calm on their respective benches. Some of them, especially the fourth level seniors who complained of wanting to leave the hall immediately. I hear they're starting to train for the final exams next semester.
“Please sit back, the event is not finished.” Master Elliott for the third time gave direction this time hard enough that there were no longer any protests coming out of fourth year students. At least, the clash managed to silence the audience. “There are still some announcements to be made. First, the fourth year students, your final assignment will start from the new year holiday until the next semester and will be continued with the Final Examination Graduation. Make sure you have found the teachers who will give you the final project task according to your talents and magic abilities.”
Sounds troublesome.
“Then, next announcement,” Master Elliott continued. Then, the screen comes back on. For a moment, I thought Master Elliott would give some sort of congratulatory video to Alpha Classes that always ranked at the very top. But, no. The screen also shows a picture of a girl there.
I'm glaring. Oh, dearGod. That's my picture.
I automatically ducked. Whatisthis? They obviously kicked me out of the academy or what?
“Alison Bancroft, General Class, transferred to Omega Class under the leadership of Agustin Brewster.”
HUH UH?
I'm sure all of us who were in the hall exclaimed in shock. My gaze quickly turned to Master Elliott who was standing in the middle of there and looking right at me. I felt like I was being forcefully released. Panicked.
The atmosphere was quiet for quite a while. Well, I think it's been a while. I felt like time just stopped. How could? My value? Where could I be on top of Lenna Roberts, right? After all, this is only the first semester, usually the placement of classes is done at the beginning of the second year. At least I have to take a semester of hell before it's decided. Even though I was in the lowest grade, but still.
Then the screen changed. There is another photo, this time a man's photo. I couldn't see it clearly because my brain was in a completely uncontrollable state.
“New students on behalf of Mathias Bancroft, placed in Alpha Class under the leadership of Octavius Kyle.”
HUH UH?!
