Lixorth

Lixorth
Alison

“I what?” I'm sure I shouted quite loudly because the two women in front of me automatically backed away at once.

“Yes, Miss Bancroft. You're accepted to Lixorth Academy. We're here to pick you up directly there.” Replied one of the blond women who was tied to a ponytail while smiling awkwardly.

“How can? I failed the entrance exam. I even got an official letter from the academy.”

“On that, you can ask directly to the Head of Academy Riggs.”

The brownish-skinned woman just nodded her head without adding her friend's statement.

“Well, now come on. The day of moving dormitories is only done one day that is yesterday, but because of your special condition, the academy gave you permission. Come.”

I swallowed spit. This must be a mistake. I clearly received the entrance examination result letter that had the official stamp of the Lixorth Academy. His father and mother read the results of the decision out loud in the living room and it was clear that I did not graduate. Whatisthis?

“Miss Bancroft? Come on, we gotta go right now. Your house was destroyed last night, right? It's okay, you don't have to bring anything. You can shop later.”

Brownish-skinned woman glances at her watch, “Eve, one more hour of ceremony begins.”

“Events?” ask me to rush over.

The woman named Eve smiled forcefully, “Ya. The acceptance ceremony for the new student and you must attend. Come on, we can be late and I don't want to get the punishment of cleaning the stables by Instructor Snowden.”

“Wait-wait, how about Dad and Mom?”

“Do not worry. Mr. and Mrs. Bancroft already knew we were coming to pick you up.”

I was silent for a moment, remembering what I should have remembered. I'm glaring. “Oh! And, Mathias? He must have graduated, too, right?”

Eve shook her head. “Unfortunately only your name can be a letter of recommendation from the Head of Academy Riggs.”

Whahuh? This is not fair. He should have gotten the letter of recommendation, too. After all, what did I do to the point that I was declared a graduate?

The impatient Eve immediately pulled my arm out of Yara's room. Yes, last night I was immediately evacuated to Aunt Jane's house while Mom and Dad went straight to the United States Magic Building to discuss the mysterious mammoth matter.

The three of us ran towards Aunt Jane's backyard. Eve then whistled like she was calling something. Three seconds later, a circle-shaped capsule appeared to be parked neatly there. Her transparent sheath magic began to fall off one by one from front to back. I'm gaping. Waw. I've never seen a high-tech magic capsule like this. Dad never wanted to buy this kind of thing because he could fly, while Mom still held the high value of traditional magic by using a broom.

The brown woman jumped into the driver's seat and began to arrange the panels. Eve pulled me in and ordered me to sit in the back seat. I complied while putting on my seat belt. The two of them seemed to be discussing something about the direction and the jumps we were about to make. I feel like I'm in a star wars movie.

    Finally, we flew.

I watched the hall which was already filled by over 50 new disciples vying on the front seat close to the magnificent podium at the end of the room which had been decorated by lanterns, luxurious magnificent chairs, also supported by five flags with special colors and symbols of each class.

Women aged about 40 years standing right in the middle of the podium gave a wide smile to welcome

new students are coming. Every now and then he waved his hand, greeting not only the new children but also the seniors and other teachers who had started to flock into the hall.

“Welcome to Lixorth.” Academy Greet Academy Principal Riggs after the student seats have all been filled. “Welcome to the best magic academy in America!”

The sound of applause rumbled. The Headmaster smiled involuntarily standing more upright proudly with

the school he has led for the past five years.

“I heard that Lixorth is accepting new students with a smaller acceptance quota than last year. You know

about it?” someone whispered very close to my ear. I unconsciously inched away to the other side while looking at the girl full of question marks and was annoyed. The girl showed her grin, “Hai, greetings. I'm Helen. Helen Crowfield.”'s

I cringe. I was still in my position, instead almost leaning on the shoulder of the other disciple by my side. Before

the student was conscious and pushing, I immediately fixed my sitting position, glued to the podium, reluctant to see the new girl. But I keep answering.

    “Alison Bancroft.”

A few moments later the atmosphere of the hall returned to silence. The head of Riggs Academy continued his remarks, giving motivational words and continuously flattering the new students for successfully passing the entrance examination of the American Lixorth Magic School.

I cursed in my heart. It's dull. It's the third time I've almost fallen asleep, let alone last night I didn't sleep. And again, Helen kept asking me to talk about all kinds of magic in Mexico, whether I listened or not.

“Hey, Alison, of the five classes, what class do you expect?” for the umpteenth time Helen brought herself closer to me, whispering.

     “No idea.”

“Seriously? But, I think you're likely to be in Beta class or maybe Delta.”

    I sighed tired. I didn't

care about the actual class squad in this academy, but from my big family lineage, my, they were always in the Alpha class which was the most powerful magic squad or were in the Beta class which was the true rival of Alpha.

“If I wish I was in Gamma class. My mother mastered healing magic, I hope my mother lowered her magic talent.”

I didn't look at him. “Ya, of course.”

“How about you? Your family has special talents too?”

    “You have a brother?”

Matthias. He could have escaped alone and maybe either he had reached San Diego or not by now. Ah, if only he hadn't run away, who knows maybe he could have entered the academy as well.

I let out a longer breath, this time I saw Helen. “No.”

“What is your family of pure bloody magic? Or just a regular human?”

     “Can you shut up?”

     “If I—”

Helen's rant was stopped by the applause of the students and the teacher who had filled the seat on the left side of the podium. The head of Riggs Academy stood sideways as the five squad leaders came lined up and stood in front of his respective seating thrones according to the color and symbol of the squads.

“We welcome, Alpha class leader, Octavius Kyle.”

Applause was getting louder in the hall. I noticed, even though I was sitting on a bench not too close to the podium, he saw clearly Octavius Kyle, a 28-year-old man with short silvery straight hair combed back. He wore a deep purple-colored robe with elongated golden-brown fur on the side of the robe. Even his smile was elegant. I certainly would not protest the most elite class led by someone with an elite aura as well.

The head of Riggs Academy did not stop, he continued to appoint first-class leaders one by one in turn. “Whitney Quinn, Beta class leader, Meredith Camden, Gamma class, Patrick Hackett, Delta class, and Agustin Brewster, Omega.” class leader

The show continued for another hour. I'm thinking about Mathias' fate. It's better that she's next to me, compared to this Helen. She's severe. The reception ceremony of the new students was closed with the magic attraction of the senior children that lasted from the hall door to the podium. Most of those who intervened were from the Alpha class, they wore gold-colored alpha symbol pins. Just like the robe worn by Octavius Kyle.

I can finally go back to the dorm room. One room was generally occupied by four people, but I entered as the third disciple in this room. Yes, only the three of us occupy room 209.

Damn, I turned out to be one room with Helen Crowfield.

I looked at the lesson schedule that Savanna Claire had neatly arranged and taped to the board near the dinner table. This room is big enough to accommodate three people. There are four beds and all of them are not bunk beds. These four beds fill every corner of the room, equipped with a study table, and drawers on the side of the mattress. In the living room, there is one round dining table, a board similar to a whiteboard for studying, four medium-size cabinets, and a bathroom.

“You didn't take part in the new student briefing yesterday, huh?” savanna asked, her eyes tracing my movements as I watched carefully the schedule Savanna wrote. Her tone was haughty, “And also, you just entered the dorm today. Why can?”

I shrugged my shoulders towards the dining table. “Senior we said special reason, I don't know.”

“Then let me explain once more.” Bargain Helen who vigorously ran a little approached me at the dining table. I could see Savanna rolling her eyeballs and walking into the room area choosing to leave here.

“I'll give you a short lecture, okay?”

I nodded and leaned back, “Please,”

“Murid first year will have the same lesson schedule. Basic magic lessons. The class, they call it. As always, the exam will be conducted in the middle and end of the semester. After that, at the beginning of the second year we will enter the process of placing all five squads according to the type and type of our magic.

“First, Alpha class. They call him the half-god— bloody witch"

“Yang is right.” I sneered involuntarily, I even chuckled a little. Isn't that overkill? When should I think of Dad as a god-blooded witch?

“That's it, right, just a mention, Alison.”

     “But, right still.”

Helen stared back at me innocently, but she just smiled lightly ignoring my ridicule and continued, “They were dubbed so because the kind of magic they had was creation. Most magicians with strong elemental talents are there.”

Inevitably, I visualized my father's fight with the mammoths again last night. I can certainly create a wind*****packey that destroys a city.

“Beta class, dubbed as half angel bloody witch. Wait, don't laugh. The witches who were in this squad had magical talent were protective. Usually a witch with a talent for change in her physique.”

I remember the figure of Mother who was one of the Beta students in her school days. Will I also inherit my mother's talent? Ah, it's impossible. My water magic is weak. I don't even know why I could be in the academy right now instead of on a plane bound for Norway.

“Gamma, a class of magicians with a talent for healing. My mother was one of them. Then, Delta, a class of magicians who have magical talent with manipulating properties.”

If not mistaken, Yara's father used to be a member of the Delta class. He can manipulate people's memories. I suddenly goosebumps.

“And the last one, Omega, they were dubbed as half-demon bloody witches. The magicians who have magic talent are devastating.”

My ears were itching to hear the name of the last squad that Helen mentioned. Half-demons might not be just nicknames for this squad, from what I heard about the Omega rumors, their magic type is creepy. Therefore, not many are indeed recruited by Omega himself. Their squad members were few in comparison to the other squads.

“So, how can I get into those squads in the second year?”

“First we will take the placement exam, the complete matter of the exam has not been further notified. Maybe later. After that, we will be sorted according to the rank that will give an advantage in our rapot later. The class leaders will choose according to our talents, values, and magic type.”

"What if you belong to a team that is not selected?” ask me to doubt. It was in my brain when I remembered that my water magic was terrible. I will not be able to be chosen by Octavius Kyle with such abilities. Ah, embarrassing.

Helen thought for a moment. “Em, usually, anyway, no one until not selected.”

“They will have the predicate as a Low Witch.” Savanna said she walked into the living room in a black-and-black uniform while carrying some books on her right arm. Her face was flat when she saw me, “And the Low Witch will only be babu in the academy. They no more re-learn basic magic and become the top magician's training assistant.”

“Good.” I said almost like spitting. Of course, I can get away from Norway, but I'll still be a babu at school.

“The first lesson will begin, come.” Savanna went ahead of Helen and I.
