Losing Us

Losing Us
Becoming a Parent

Arsenio never expected that he would enjoy a moment of anxious expectation when he saw the development of a child in his wife's womb. There is almost never a shadow about it in the head of Arsenio, because since the beginning of a relationship with Olin, his former lover has firmly said he does not want to have children aka child free.

The trauma that Olin received for the act of favoritism from both parents made the woman reject the idea of having children. It is better not to give birth to a single child from her womb than to create another human being with a trauma like her.

Over the years, Arsenio grew up thinking that she would never be a parent. Therefore, when Anara first reported about her pregnancy, Arsenio's reflex response refused because it was inversely proportional to the thoughts she had so far.

But now, after seeing firsthand how the little creature moved slowly in Anara's stomach, Arsenio realized that deep down, she harbored the desire to be a father.

The doctor explains many things during the examination session. Information about the gender of the child is also leaked. Make Arsenio more eager to welcome the birth of the baby.

“Vitamins are not to be skipped, Mom. And because you have a history of asthma, please pay more attention to avoid risk factors that can cause asthma relapse.” The doctor at the end of the examination.

“Iya, Doc. Thank you.” Anara answered while reaching for the prescription paper that was proffered to her. “Then, we excuse.” Pamitnya.

The doctor got up from the chair. Escorting Anara and Arsenio out of the examination room with an expanding smile.

“Thank you for accompanying Mom to check up today yes, sir. Hopefully in the future Mr. more time again to accompany Mother more often.” The doctor said as they arrived at the door.

Arsenio pounding clumsy. Wrong behavior because like just caught doing wrong action. It was like he was being insinuated, but in an elegant way that even embarrassed him himself.

“Thank you for caring, Doc.” That was all Arsenio could say before he and Anara left.

The gynecologist talk continued to ring along the way to the basement where his car was parked. The more he was impregnated, the more embarrassed he was. Dare to accept the responsibility of marrying someone's daughter, but instead make her feel vain and alone. Arsenio thought to himself, who is this son of a bitch in him down from?

“No need to think about the doctor's talk earlier.” Chirp Anara. Making Arsenio's footsteps stop. “I always say you are busy working and can not anterin I check up, so maybe the doctor was just happy because finally you can participate in the development of your child.”

Exhaling a rough breath, Arsenio stepped back. “She's kayaking again saying, ‘Nah, gini. This new whose name is husband.’ in my ear.”

“That's how you feel. No need to overthinking.” Persuade Anara.

“But,” Arsenio stopped another step, just as they arrived at the basement. “Gue has done something that should not yet? I mean, make a good husband and father, my effort is enough or still far from standard?”

“Enough.” Anara replied without even thinking first. “Lagian, no one created that standard. Do not mostly overthinking, later there you even always feel less and the efforts you sell can not even be maximal.”

For a moment, Arsenio was silent. Digesting well what Anara said then ending it by exhaling slowly. He doesn't think his efforts are maximal. Anara just sounded like she was trying to calm herself down to stop talking.

But in the end, all Arsenio could do was accept. He would consider his efforts today to be enough. Tomorrow and the days after that, he will do even better.

“Ya already, let's go home.” Bring along. He walked back to the parked car a few meters from where he had stopped.

...****************...

On the way home, Anara suddenly wants to eat a banana. Be them covering to the nearest supermarket to meet the cravings so that the baby does not get sick.

“I didn't buy a banana, I wanted ice cream.” Reveal it to Arsenio who is ready to stand by his side.

“Oh, yes already. The chiller is right there, just take all the flavors you want.” Welcome Arsenio.

“OK!” Anara exclaimed in excitement.

Arsenio could only shake her head slowly while following Anara from behind.

“Aduh, I am confused about which one to choose. The choice feels too much, dear if you have to buy all when I know it will not be able to finish everything.” The woman complained when she was presented with so many choices.

“Take all flavor variants from the same brand. Ice cream can be stored in the refrigerator, where you know tomorrow you crave to eat other flavors.” Arsenio.

Anara seemed to think for a moment. Then, instead of taking some flavor variants in accordance with Arsenio's previous instructions, the woman only picked one that tasted chocolate.

“I bought this just one.”

He said, the will of pregnant women must be obeyed, so Arsenio did not argue much. She also let Anara unscrew the ice cream, enjoying the contents while the empty wrap was passed to her to be taken to the cashier.

Seeing Anara look happy just because a piece of ice cream unconsciously made Arsenio smile. While waiting in line, he kept an eye on Anara who was waiting near the snack shelf.

The long queue made him have to wait. Not to mention the strange gazes of mothers lining up in front of him when he saw himself just holding an empty pack of ice cream. Not like those mothers whose shopping trolleys were full.

About 15 minutes waiting, Arsenio's turn to pay. Wrap the empty ice cream he thrust to the cashier to scan, then he immediately pay according to the nominal listed on the screen.

“Thank you,” he said to the cashier, then quickly get out of the way before being sprayed by the person in line behind him.

Anara was still in her place, but the ice cream belonging to the woman was gone.

“Udah? What else is it?” tanyakanya. Maybe the baby still wants to eat something. Mumpung is still here. Because when they get home, they will usually be mager to get out again.

“Not there, we go home aja.”

According to him, Arsenio immediately clasped Anara's hand. Then they walked out of the crowded supermarket.

The act of service that Arsenio usually endures, the afternoon just flows like he was used to doing it for Anara. Starting from opening the car door, helping to install the seatbelt, to turn on the tape so that Anara does not get bored during the trip home.

On that hot afternoon, they work together, building relationships to be good parents for their prospective children.
