Friendships

“Either he was serious or not, but I think he’s a good man.” that Calya concluded after hearing the chronology that Qeiza told.

“How about he's just messing around?” ask Qeiza.

“It's also possible. But he treats you well, right?”

“Too well actually, and that's what made me suspicious. Like, as long as we work here there is never such a thing as a romantic situation between us right? Not, at all. Yesterday after that incident, she suddenly fell in love with me and dated. Got him secret admire, what?”

Qeiza complained long. From the beginning the woman was never sure to be in a relationship with Damian. But he was not in a position to resist back then. Other than the gratitude for having helped him, also because there was not the slightest doubt on the man's face back then.

Although Qeiza accepts, she is convinced that Damian will soon end the relationship. Qeiza was aware of her over-applying attitude in the relationship which had always been the reason for the end of her relationship. Therefore Qeiza thought that the man would also feel tired with his attitude soon. But what he felt was the opposite, there was not the slightest attitude from the man that showed that he wanted to end their relationship. Damian just looks like such a nice guy.

“How about right?” calya asked suddenly.

“What?”

“How about all this time he really likes you?”

Qeiza tried to digest the words her friend had just said. “Secret admire?” ask the woman to be sure, which Calya immediately allowed.

“Impossible.”

“Why immediately assume so?”

“Because it does feel like it”

“Okay, I don't understand. It’s your job to find the truth.”

Quarrels in friendships are common, especially among men. Because your best friend is also human, at any time can turn into a shitty creature. But the funny thing is, no matter how upset you are, they're still your best friends.

“Calya? She's fine.”

“What? No, he really looks fine.”

“Listen, we had a long discussion not too long ago and I'm sure he's fine.”

“What do you mean I'm unconscious. Go and ask yourself if you don't believe me!”

Damian hung up the phone in annoyance. It was morning but his friend had asked him to argue. Why would he ask if he didn't want to believe it, the man thought. But despite feeling upset Damian still had the intention to check the truth that made his friend curious and good luck sided with him this morning.

Ting

The elevator doors that Damian was going to ride open. Coincidentally the man found the woman who had just been the topic of his conversation was inside there. What a profitable coincidence.

“Pagi.”

“Good morning.”

Damian thought a little about how to get the answer he wanted after opening the conversation with a formal greeting. In the end, we just use the easiest way.

“Are you feeling unwell?”

“What?”

“Such as health complaints or certain diseases, there?”

How do you feel when someone suddenly asks you something strange? Instead of answering maybe you'll ask back, so it usually happens. That was also what Calya felt at this moment. Although he felt strange, he still had to answer his superior's question.

“Is there a reason I should feel that way?”

“That means you are fine.”

By hearing that question Damian was able to conclude that his friend's concerns were unwarranted. Why should I interfere, his mind. He had already interfered and getting a sharp gaze from Calya at this moment was the price he had to pay.

“Not that I want to interfere in your personal affairs, just representing friends ask.”

“Of course, please.”

Just like Damian, Calya also wanted to use the opportunity to look for answers that also annoyed her best friend. “Are you serious with Qeiza or just sympathize?”

“What's that your friend think?” ask Damian.

“Please only my assumption.”

Damian was silent for a moment like he was thinking about something, and just as the man was about to answer the elevator door opened. They arrive on the floor where the Creative Department is located, which means Calya has to get out of the elevator before she can hear Damian's answer.

“Hey” said Damian, Calya who was outside the elevator also turned her head.

“How about finding time to talk about our friends?” ask the man.

“Okay. Just tell me the time.”

***

“Secret admire? No, not like that.” Damian said. After a short conversation that had stalled in the elevator that time. They were sitting in a cafe near the office continuing the same topic of conversation.

“So, you just sympathize.” Calya concluded.

“No.”

“Then, what?”

“I'm only committed, isn't that what matters in a relationship?”

“Committed. Okay, so you mean everything that you do to her is a form of commitment. But without love?”

“What is love so important? Does it have to be in every commitment?”

“Isn't a loveless commitment able to change easily?”

“I think love the easiest to change. What do you think? Day love this person, tomorrow not and another day love others.”

Calya's laughter came out unconsciously. To be honest the woman thought that when she found out the answer on behalf of this friend, she would hear definite answers. Like I've liked him for a long time or I'm actually quite sorry for him. The answer is black or white. But what he heard just now was gray.

“What? Do you think my words sound funny?”

“No. Actually I have to say that I'm as thoughtful as you. But maybe not with Qeiza. You two seem to have a completely different view of a relationship.”

“It seems like it is.”

The gray answer from the man had indeed invited him to ask more. But Calya knew she had to stop here. At least he had already made sure that this man had no intention of playing his best friend, the rest let them take care of him themselves.

“I think you know what your task is now.” Calya intended to close their conversation and leave the place. But the man reopened his voice.

“Okay, my turn is now. So what you want to know.”

“All I want to know already I got”

“Not that I mean.”

“Then?

“Ray.”

“I don't want to know anything about it.”

“Colah. Not that I told you, we exchanged information.”

Calya was confused. It is not like exchanging information, but being forced to receive information. It was clear he said he did not want to know anything, but firmly the man said he wanted to tell him anything. It's just like a boss saying I'm going to say something so you have to listen to him.

“Ray and I also have a lot of differences. Somehow your opinion of him at the moment but he is very much different first.”
