Chapter 39 Good Friends
The next morning, Toni was ready to pick up Dina. Tony was at the dinner table for breakfast.
"take..mama when to go home?" tanya Toni while pouring rice on her plate
"less to know mas, maybe later tonight" said mbok Nah while meticulous dishes at the dining table
"early breakfast, will you pick up Dina again?" toni's dad walked over to the dining table
"iya pa. I can't bear if Dina riding her own motorbike, afraid to daydream on the road" said Toni
"what's wrong? Dina's sick?" his father Toni sips coffee that has been provided by mbok Nah
"why don't you know?" Toni scrunched her forehead
"what's wrong?" ask Tony's dad
"her grandmother just died last Sunday" Toni said as she fed rice into her mouth
"hmm...so yes...why doesn't anyone tell us..?" ask Dina's dad
"yesterday Sunday someone told my mother that her friend's in-laws died as soon as she did." - Mbok Nah chimed in.
Toni finished her meal, and said goodbye to her papa. It was very unusual early in the morning that they were engaged in small talk. Usually papa and his mother always rush to work every morning.
Toni went to Dina's house riding her motorcycle with moderate speed. Arriving at Dina's house, Toni parked her motorcycle in Dina's yard.
It just so happened that her mother Dina was sweeping the courtyard of the house.
"morning aunt.." said Toni politely.
"uh...Toni..morning.." said his mother Dina stopped sweeping "early morning has come here"
"yes aunt..want to pick up Dina, Dina is ready not yet aunty?" ask Toni politely
"so the hell is taking a shower.Most now it's done" said his mother Dina "you just wait on the side porch"
"iya aunty.oh yes.tadi papa tipped greetings to auntie" Toni pulled both corners of her lips.
"oh.iya.." her mother Dina smiled then continued sweeping the courtyard.
Toni walked towards the side porch of Dina's house. Waiting for Dina to prepare. Dina's house is still quiet, Dina's younger siblings have not appeared ready to go to school.
Dina came out of the house to pull out her motorbike. Dina was surprised to find Toni who was already in her house.
"i told you I could go alone Ton.." said Dina flat.
"fine, from tomorrow I won't pick you up again" Toni said with a forced smile. Toni recalled her papa saying that he was too pushy for Dina if she was uncomfortable.
"but for today it's okay if I pick you up and drop you off?" ask Toni softly
"alright.." said Dina flat.
"Dina.... I know maybe I hurt you and let you down, I just want to make up for all my past mistakes, please give me Din's chance" Toni said
Dina sighed then she sat down next to Toni. "What chance is Ton?" asked Dina in a slightly softer tone
"at least let me get close to you again" Toni said grudgingly
Dina again sighed "I still consider you Ton's friend, is that lacking?"
"it's up to you, if it makes you comfortable I'll accept it, but please don't hate me" Toni said
"i've never hated you, and never will" Dina pulled both corners of her lips up
Toni smiled widely, she was happy because Dina was willing to smile again at her. Toni followed her papa's advice and it worked. Toni is determined to take Dina's heart slowly.
"later in the afternoon will you have lunch at my house?" tanya Toni excitedly
"hmmm..see later how Ton.." said Dina then he stood up and entered again into his house.
Not long after, Dina came out again wearing a jacket and carrying her school bag. "Let's go now, I have a repeat this morning" said Dina softly
"corpio... Where's your helmet?" asked Toni with a look
Dina came out again from inside her house, ready to leave. Dina approached her mother who was still sweeping the courtyard. "Ma..I left first." said Dina.
"we left first aunt.." said Toni politely.
"yes.be careful.do not speed yes Ton.." said his mother Din with both corners of the lips raised.
Toni drove the bike at a moderate speed, because the school entrance hours are still long. Fifteen minutes later they arrived at school. Toni parked her motorcycle in the motor park near Dina class.
The two of them walked towards their classes. Arriving next to Dina's class "I went to class first" said Dina flat
"yes, the success of his repetition is Din" said Toni with a fluffy smile. Then he walked into his class with a cheerful heart.
Dina put her bag on her seat. Then he took out a book and read the material for his daily repetition.
"Your....!" someone shouted from the door of his class. Dina looked towards the door of her classroom.
"what's wrong?!" dina asked staring at the question mark
"can you come out for a second? There's something I want to talk to you about" said someone
Dina got up from her seat and walked out of the classroom. "What's wrong?" ask Dina flat
"on Sunday afternoon there was a meeting of the disbandment of the camping committee came yes." said someone who was none other than Krishna.
"why am I invited?" dina asked frowning her forehead
"Dendy told me to invite you, said you should come" said Krishna
"alright..I try to come" said Dina flat.
"don't forget yes.weeks at three in the afternoon at the base camp" said Krisna then he passed from in front of Dina.
Dina re-enters her class and it turns out that Yuni is already in their seat.
"where have you been Din?" asked Yuni with a question mark filled look
"me from the front, cook you don't see me at the door?" dina asked pursed her lips.
Yuni chuckled "sorry, so panicked I didn't notice anyone in front of me"
"eh..I want to ask please answer honestly" Yuni said excitedly.
"wasnwhat?" Dina re-read the book
"you and Toni make up?"tanya Yuni was enthusiastic
"no Yun. I'm just good friends with him" Dina said without looking at Yuni.
"sure...just good friends?" yuni asked in a seductive tone
"if you don't believe it, just ask the person there" Dina replied annoyed
"yes.iya...no need to be angry like that!" Yuni chuckled
Dina continued to read the book, while Yuni was still busy working on PR that she had not had time to do last night.
The bell of the lesson started has rung, their first lesson filled with daily repetitions. All the students worked on the questions calmly.
Yuni who was sitting next to Dina, was busy cheating Dina's answer. Dina just kept quiet, after all her teacher had already found out if Yuni was cheating her answer.
