Mother to My Children

Mother to My Children
Chapter 22 (Detach with sincerity)

A week before the wedding...

News of Bara and Syafira's marriage has reached the ears of doctor Rendra. Currently, he is holding a wedding invitation of Bara and Syafira. Just a moment ago, Bara's man gave the invitation to Rendra's doctor.

Initially, Rendra's doctor was enthusiastic about accepting the invitation, but his facial expression immediately changed when his net caught a name clearly written on the invitation. That is, the name of the bride named SYAFIRA MAHARANI.

"Ah might happen to be the same name," he murmured trying not to think too much.

However, out of curiosity, Rendra's doctor tries to find out through his sister, Mia. Mia must have known if it was Syafira she knew who was written on the invitation letter because she was her best friend.

Doctor Rendra's hand shook when he found out that it was true, the Syafira he knew who his best friend would marry. The phone that was stuck to his ear almost fell off.

"Hello brother, is brother still there? brother's okay, right?" mia asked worriedly from across the phone.

"Yes, my sister is fine" said doctor Rega slowly.

"I'm sorry, Mia didn't tell my sister from yesterday. Mia was afraid that she would be disappointed and hurt again" Mia said.

"It's okay, brother hang up?"

"Son't really okay, is he?" Mia made sure once again.

"Hem, assalamualaikum," said Dr. Rendra.

Doctor Rendra immediately squeezed the invitation that was still in his hands.

It hurt and broke him. The woman he has loved for a long time will marry his best friend. A love story that has not started now will only be wishful thinking.

"Aarrggghhh!" doctor Rendra shouted, holding all disappointment in his chest.

"Why, why does it have to be like this again? Why do I have to go again?" muttered. She brushed her hair with both hands in frustration.

"You okay?" ask doctor Niken, his co-worker and best friend and also Bara's friend. He understood very well what was going on with Dr. Rendra because he had also just received an invitation from Bara. It was the place where Dr. Rendra confided about Syafira. He went to the doctor to make sure his friend was okay.

"As you can see" said Dr. Rendra uninspired.

"Come on, this isn't Bara's fault either. He didn't know you liked Syafira all this time" Dr. Niken said.

"I know, and it's my fault for never telling him" said Dr. Rendra.

"Two times Rend, twice always like this. If Bara knew this, he would...."

"I won't tell him. It's not his fault. After all, between me and Syafira there was never any bond. If she's getting married to Bara, then her heart isn't for me" doctor Rendra cut out Niken's words.

"You sure?" doctor Niken hesitated with the words of Dr. Rendra.

"You mean?" dr. Rendra asked the intention behind the words of Dr. Niken.

"You're sure that Syafira has no feelings for you? What I saw said otherwise" said Dr. Niken.

"Don't joke,"

"Oh, anyone else can see that Syafira has the same feelings as you from the way she looks at you, don't you realize that?"

"Then what's the point if it's true, she has chosen Bara to be her husband" said Dr. Rendra.

"I'm just saying from what I saw Rend, that for their marriage problems, I don't know!" doctor Niken shrugged both of his shoulders.

"Yes, I'm going first. I was just making sure my best friend was okay. Thank goodness if you can still think logically, I'm already imagining you'll jump off your balcony because of a broken heart" joked doctor Niken then walked over to the door.

"I'm still sane!"

"I know, you can. Do you believe what is called destiny? If he's not yours, then he's not your soul mate. God has prepared another for you. It's just that, next time you need to be braver against your parents, don't be weak, convince them if it's like this again" advises Dr. Niken.

Doctor Rendra was always unable to resist anything his parents said, as much as possible he did not fight them even though it would make his feelings hurt. Unlike Mia, she is more able to express what she wants, what she likes and dislikes.

Not that Dr. Rendra is unable to fight his parents, but maybe this is how to repay the kindness of those who raised him as a child.

"I have a gift for Tasya" said Dr. Rendra, he took out a paper bag from his desk drawer and handed it to Dr. Niken.

"Thank you, tasya would be happy to accept it," said doctor Niken before actually getting out of the doctor's room Rendra.

At the door, Dr. Niken paused for a moment.

For a moment, Dr. Rendra fell silent after Dr. Niken left his room. He looked back at the old invitation.

"No! This is not true! I have to ask Syafira myself!" dr. Rendra wanted to make sure of it himself. He wanted to hear from Syafira's own mouth, though it might not change anything later. The evidence of Mia's invitation and speech is clear, but to strengthen her heart, she still tries to deny it before hearing it from Syafira herself.

Doctor Rendra took the keys to his car and left his room.

Thirty minutes later, the doctor's car arrived in front of Syafira's cake shop. He got out after parking his car.

"Mbak, the handsome doctor," Rani said, who saw Dr. Rendra get out of the car to Fira.

Syafira who was busy packing cakes into the box was looking out of the store.

"Doctor Rendra?" he muttered, he immediately came out without taking off the apron he was wearing.

"Doctor why are you here? Do you want to buy cake?" Syafira pretended not to know and did not see what the doctor Rendra was holding in his hand.

"I'm here to ask you something, do you have time?" ask Dr. Rendra.

"Wait a minute, I put this down first. We talk in the front cafe only," said Syafira while removing the apron attached to his body. Maybe it's time for them to end the relationship that has not even started, so that in the future no one is hurt and all can continue to live their lives after everything is clear.

Arriving at the cafe, Syafira only ordered a glass of water, while doctor Rendra ordered a cappucino.

"What does the doctor want to ask?" Syafira began to open the conversation.

Doctor Rendra thrust the invitation in his hand onto the front desk of Syafira.

"Is this really you Fir?" ask Dr. Rendra, still hoping if Syafira denies.

"Yes doc, it's me. I'm getting married in a week" Syafira said, gritting her teeth. As much as possible he behaved normally in front of Dr. Rendra.

Doctor Rendra clenched his hands tightly under the table. His heart crumbled faintly after hearing for itself from Syafira's mouth.

"You know whose Bara?"

"Yes, I know om, uh mas Bara is a friend of Dr. Rendra. I only found out a few days ago from Mia," replied Syafira.

"When did you know him, Fir? Why are you getting married all of a sudden?"

"Doctors believe that the name of a mate can meet at any time, for more detail is our business," Syafira said. He tried not to let his tears come out.

"Are you sure of your choice?"

"Yes, of course sure the doctor, otherwise I would not have gone this far," Syafira replied again.

"Then, how do I feel, Fir? Have you never had the same feelings for me?" doctor Rendra's question that this makes Syafira silent.

"Jawab Fir, if there is one, why did you marry Bara?" urged doctor Rendra.

Syafira took a long breath. Hopefully the answer can make Rendra's doctor stop hoping and not continue to be hurt by him.

"No, I have never had feelings for a doctor other than to think of a doctor like my own sister," Syafira replied clearly. There's no point in him saying that he feels the same way as Dr. Rendra. Soon she will be married, she will be a wife. Sooner or later, he had to throw his feelings away.

Doctor Rendra closed his eyes for a moment, holding every stab that poured into his heart hearing Syafira's revelation. It means that his love has been clapping one hand, he thought.

"All right, I understand" said Dr. Rendra full of disappointment.

"Are you happy to marry her?"

"Of course I'm happy" Syafira said forcing a smile. Pretend to be happy like any other woman getting married.

"Well, I just want to make sure of that. If you are happy with someone else, I am sincere. Bara is my best friend, he is very good, very suitable with you," said doctor Rendra with a vibrating, but sincere tone. Even though his heart really hurt. But, there was nothing that made him relieved except to see the woman sitting in front of him. As long as Syafira is happy, she will try to let it go. The most important thing for him is the happiness of the woman he loves, after all that Syafira has experienced.
