Throughout the film, Clara was not at all scared. But there is a part of the film that shows a scene of a child that his mother left for ever, where Clara's cries begin to break. He remembered his mother. My mother loved him very much. Probably the only one in the world who loves him sincerely.

Ethan doesn't think Clara will be this sensitive when she remembers her mother. He took Clara into his arms and patted Clara's back slowly.
