04. Like a Wife

It's been a few weeks since Oddie fell down the stairs. He was healthy and active as usual although sometimes he needed the help of a wooden stick given his security guard. It's just a small, meagre gift, but it's worth it to Oddie.

This morning, while Nathan and Kirana were not awake, Oddie took the time to look after the flowers in the garden accompanied by Maman and Lastri. The warm chatter continued to color their mornings. Especially when two security guards who are changing tasks join nimbrung. But it didn't last long because when Oddie heard the sound of people sliding the balcony door, Oddie asked them to immediately disperse.

"Go away before he gets angry!" oddie said after seeing Nathan. Just like the others, Oddie also immediately went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast.

Usually Nathan would immediately reprimand when he saw the four people talking. But this morning was different because Nathan was busy chatting with his grandfather over the phone.

"So when will grandpa come home?" nathan asked as he enjoyed the warm morning sun.

"Why do you miss Grandpa?" asked Grandpa Moeis interspersed with crisp laughter. Although Nathan did not see his grandfather's face, but just by hearing his voice Nathan knew that he was happy.

"Of course Nathan misses" Nathan replied. For years the old man was gone. Even though Nathan had met him a few times, it still felt different.

"Then go get Grandpa now. Grandpa landed at the airport" said Grandpa Moeis.

"really?" ask Nathan.

"Did you ever lie?" replied Grandpa Moeis.

"Grandfather, Nathan will be ready soon. So please don't go anywhere until Nathan comes!" nathan said then turned off his phone.

Nathan immediately changed his clothes and made sure it looked neat. After feeling enough, Nathan took the time to kiss the forehead of his mistress who was still asleep in bed before going down to the bottom.

Meanwhile Oddie who saw Nathan coming down the stairs immediately poured warm milk, took out a salad, toast, fruit and arranged it in such a way at the dinner table.

"The hope is ready."

Without daring to see her husband's face, Oddie allowed her to eat. Nathan paused for a while, drank his milk for half and left without touching his breakfast. Not that he wasn't hungry, but he wasn't having a taste for food after seeing Oddie ruining his morning mood.

In less than fifteen minutes, Nathan arrived at the airport. Nathan and Grandpa Moeis' smiles widened after the two men from different generations faced each other and hugged each other.

"Grandfather, is grandpa healthy?" ask Nathan.

"Of course grandfather is healthy" replied Grandpa Moeis.

Grandpa Moeis glanced in various directions thinking Nathan would pick up with his wife. Understandably, Grandpa Moeis was curious about the face of his daughter-in-law's granddaughter. Nathan has been married for two years, but has never met Oddie. Nor did anyone ever meet Oddie. Even when Nathan visits the country to meet him he instead brings Kirana who does various ways to get his sympathy.

"Who are you looking for?" ask Nathan.

"your wife. Where is he, don't you want to take him to see Grandpa?" ask Grandpa Moeis.

"Grandfather, aren't you tired? It's better for grandfather to think about grandfather's health than to look for someone who isn't here" Nathan replied.

"All right, then let's go home!" take Grandpa Moeis.

Without waiting any longer, Nathan immediately drove his car to the grandfather's residence. At first there wasn't much they were talking about because Nathan wasn't excited after Grandpa Moeis mentioned Oddie. But it only lasted for a short while as Grandpa Moeis reopened the conversation on the same topic.

"Bring your wife to dinner tonight!" pinta Grandpa Moeis.

Nathan saw his grandfather for a second. Then refocus driving while looking for an excuse. "No, I'll come with Kirana tonight" Nathan said.

"Nathan, grandpa wants to see your wife!" force Grandpa Moeis.

"Grandfather doesn't care if you take Kirana or not. But obviously grandfather wants to meet your wife" said Grandpa Moeis.

Although heavy-hearted, but in the end Nathan still supports his grandfather's request. "All right" replied Nathan.

Nathan took his cell phone. During his lifetime, this was the first time Nathan had contacted Oddie. But his fingers are stopped after realizing that he has no contact with Oddie. Nathan finally delivers his message through Kirana.

Oddie remained silent in the room looking at his old photo, then saw a reflection of his own face in the mirror. He was created by God in a perfect form, but because the events of that day changed everything so that it made him no longer perfect.

"No problem, can't you still see and walk, Die?" said Oddie cheering himself on.

Oddie put the photo in the drawer. Then he held onto his deformed eyes and legs. But the sound of the door opening violently seized his entire attention. For the first time, Nathan finally walks into Oddie's room, which is exactly like a warehouse. "Dean?" greet Oddie when he sees who's coming.

"Why aren't you ready. Didn't Kirana tell you to have dinner at grandpa's?" nagging Nathan when he saw Oddie still wearing shabby clothes without make up.

"He didn't tell me,-"

"Hurry up and get ready!" cut Nathan off without giving Oddie time to defend himself.

"I don't want to come!" oddie said as Nathan was leaving.

Nathan who heard Oddie's reply turned back. Pushing Oddie against the wall and pressing Oddie's neck. "If my grandfather doesn't want to see you with this defect, do you think I'm taking you away? Die, my patience has its limits. So change your clothes and go!"

"D-Dean, a-I'm limping and t-don't have a decent shirt. I don't want to embarrass you!" Oddie.

Nathan violently releases Oddie's neck, causing Oddie to fall to the floor. She was also embarrassed, but grandfather insisted on wanting to see her. So what can Nathan do but take him? Nathan immediately opens Oddie's old closet. Either Nathan is pulling too strong or his closet is weathered so that the closet door is out of place.

"Ck, where did the money go until I didn't have any clothes?" nathan asked when he saw all the old clothes.

"What money?" ask Oddie but get no explanation from Nathan.

Nathan looked at the watch in his hand. Then pull Oddie to come with him. There was still an hour and a half, although very mepet but Nathan still took her to go to the fairies to get a dress all selfie although Oddie begged not to go.

"Please dress her up and choose a proper dress. We're going to have a family dinner!" nathan told the boutique owner when he arrived at his destination.

"Good, Sir! Please wait there!" the boutique owner was friendly.

Nathan went to the waiting room while enjoying a glass of warm tea. The boutique owner, accompanied by his assistant, smiled before leading him away. There's not much they talk about in the make up room. The boutique owner and the two assistants worked fast because of the tight time.

"Beautiful!" praise the boutique owner who was kept quiet by his assistant and made Oddie duck. These compliments remind her of her mom and dad. They used to say so even though Oddie was in a shambles form though.

"Thank you!" oddie said by wiping away the tears that were almost spilled.
