There is one truth to be acknowledged from Ruwina's remark last night. That is, the pain of Byan, makes Maureen have to take over some work at the company and do it alone. Not to dominate but because the patient can not go to the office
Byan is still advised to stay on top of the bed, go down just to go to the bathroom and the rest he does on the bed.
Only once did Maureen meet her this morning, when she said she was going to the office to check some of the files that Byan might have to approve.
“You've had breakfast?” asked Byan who was nibbling on his spoon. He thought he would have breakfast with Maureen in his room but only the food menu for her was served by the waiter.
“Udah.” Maureen's agenda reading paused because of that question.
“Okey, continue.” Said the big-nosed man. He continued his breakfast again while looking at Maureen who was holding the tab to continue reading his agenda. I don't know, he felt something was different from Maureen this morning.
“This time, I will contact the development manager who holds the construction of the island, we need to know the last progress before we start cooperation with a new contractor.”
“Fourteen noon later, there will be a meeting with the public relations department. They will start the promotion for the shophouse cluster that has arrived at the finishing stage. I will schedule it virtually so you can follow the meeting.”
“While you are not well, I apologize I can not shift the schedule because the public relations team has made a POA for their promo plan that they will start this week.” Urai Maureen, once then checklist one agenda of the next activity that he has conveyed to the main director.
“Wait a minute,” Byan first paused Maureen's sentence before her stepmother continued the other agenda.
“Iya?”
“Can we use my nickname and you as usual? I'm I'm not comfortable with your call and I.” Byan protested while scratching his ear.
Maureen was silent for a moment, like she was thinking. Though he deliberately used the word substitute call to make it more formal.
“Good.” That answer was what he said.
Byan stared fixedly at Maureen, a smile he tried to endure. He did not expect that Maureen would simply comply even though he wanted to hear Maureen debate him this morning.
“How long will you be going to the office?” he turned to another question. There might be another chance to argue with Maureen.
“I haven't specified. Maybe this afternoon before the virtual meeting. Riswan I ask standby here, if you need anything, he can help.”
“Go home before lunch. I want to eat chicken noodles.” Toddler fishing began.
“I'll have Riswan buy it later in the afternoon, before lunchtime.” Solutions are always there from her stepmother.
“I want you to buy. Not Riswan.” Toddler is really acting like a boy who must be obeyed all his wishes.
“Good, I will send it via inter.” message
“No, I want you to bring it directly here and we eat together here.” Look, he's being stubborn on purpose.
“Byan, ..” Maureen was already visibly annoyed and Byan was actually waiting for Maureen to debate her.
"Why? You mind? If I want to get well soon, I'll have to eat a lot. While my appetite again wants chicken noodles. Than I don't eat? I'll have to take medicine." Byan said indifferently.
“Ya already, I'll buyin.” Uh give up. Not exciting thought Byan. What's the matter with her stepmother, why not poke her as usual?
“Hold him not too much.”
“Sampe here do not get to grow. I don't like noodles that grow.” Byan is really testing patience.
“Iya, I try fast.”
“The bowl of pinjem has his brother only, let there be a picture of his chicken.”
“WHY DON'T YOU EAT ALL THERE?!” Maureen's emotions finally overflowed.
He glared resentfully at Byan who was really testing his patience this morning.
Byan was stunned, not expecting Maureen's response to be that loud.
“I'll have a footache.” Toddler was easily pointing his foot in the cast. Look at his pale face in shock and pretend to be sad.
“Gosh.”
Maureen could only exhale his coarse breath. He also brushed his hair in annoyance. Byan really made it out of control. Though he had been holding back his frustration since then but Byan even seemed to test Maureen's patience which was only as thin as tissue in for the two.
A few seconds of time he let go, he needed time to calm himself down.
“Iya, later I buy chicken drawing bowl.” Maureen finally gave up.
“Do not buy, pinjem only. Only once, use.” He's not stopping yet. It's like this when the police baton is given life, there are many rules.
“Iya, yes I will borrow it. Now shut up and finish your breakfast. Debate about the chicken noodles we've already. I'm leaving!” Maureen with her maturity tried to relent. He says the sane are the ones who give up. He took his bag and held it.
“Maureen, remember not to be too noon. I have to have lunch at exactly twelve noon because I have to take medicine.” Still had time for Byan to talk to Maureen who had arrived at the door.
“Good, sir.” Maureen nodded in understanding.
“BRUK!” followed by the sound of a door he violently closed.
“Jeez, he's really impatient.” Said Byan who then leaned his body on the back of his bed.
He chuckled to himself remembering Maureen's face being annoyed at him. Then he picked up the phone and sent a message to Maureen, “Be careful on the road. Go home on time.” Write it with all my heart.
You know what Maureen's reply was? The middle finger is black for Byan.
“Hahahahaha ..” Byan laughed out loud.
It's fun to judge Maureen like this. It's better than seeing Maureen quiet a lot with guilt that she doesn't really need to show. Especially if you have heard Maureen talking formally, her ears immediately itch.
“You are indeed unique, stepmom.” Byan muttered while looking at Maureen's profile photo in the form of a withered red rose.
Is this how he feels now?
