Catalina looked out the window.
It's been over ten years. He had even forgotten what Tatiana was like. Is the girl still as cheerful and energetic as she used to be? Does he like to smile?
A girl who is always happy, why be like this?
What's wrong?
If there is a chance, can he see it?
Question after question came and haunted him. But he failed to find an answer. More precisely, he could think of nothing.
Thirteen years, not a short time. As long as they didn't meet, so how could he know anything? Tatiana could have changed. And that change that his brain couldn't think of.
"How does he live his life?" Catalina's low voice broke the silence. "Is it that hard?" He could not imagine how Tatiana's life had been. He feels his life is the hardest, he feels his life is the worst and annoying, but he never thinks Tatiana is also having trouble in her life.
Tatiana was adopted by wealthy-looking women and men. He thought his life was fun and better than anyone. At least, they would not treat him badly, he thought. But, could he be mistaken?
Nick took a long breath. "His personal life is quite complicated" he replied. "And I'm not the one who can enter that realm." Tatiana's career was brilliant, but her personal problems, she never knew.
It was not that he did not want to know or trust Tatiana too much. Not at all. But because Tatiana closed it tightly, did not let him know, then inevitably he was forced to believe it.
That reason makes everything complicated. That is, his ignorance of the girl. What is the problem, what is the difficulty, the girl seems to keep many secrets beyond her knowledge.
Catalina pinched between her eyebrows. He seems to have failed to be a good brother. No. gabe. It really failed. Completely failed. He failed to take care of her, failed to protect her, failed to give her a good life. Now, after everything became like this, who was to blame? Are the parents who adopted Tatiana, Nick or herself?
Despite wanting to blame others and bestow all her dissatisfaction on them, Catalina had no right to do so. Besides not the right time, he also contributed to the destruction of Tatiana's life. He even started to think Nick didn't know anything. So there was no point in being angry at him, there was no point in hating him. But even though he is no longer angry or hateful, it does not mean he believes it. To be honest, it's a little difficult.
"Tatiana told me so much about you" Nick re-opened his voice.
"You say as if you know my sister very well." And Catalina doesn't like that. Either Nick's the one standing on which side. Is Nick his sister's confidant, or vice versa?
I don't know.
For now such questions will he keep in his heart.
"I do know your sister quite well" he said. "I mean, not very, but quite well," Nick added. And from Tatiana's mouth, he found out about Catalina who lived in the definite upbringing.
A few years after Tatiana was adopted, the orphanage caught fire. Many people died in the incident. The file is also gone. Everything about Catalina, nothing more.
They said Catalina was dead. But before seeing his brother's body with his own eyes, Tatiana did not believe it. Tatiana believes Catalina is still alive, somewhere.
And sure enough, Catalina is still alive. Healthy and fine.
Catalina smiled bitterly. "Should I trust you?"
"You have to trust me, indeed" Nick replied with no spirit at all. Although his sluggishness is less convincing, but he is more serious than anyone.
"Why?"
Next to Nick's eyebrows raised. "Is my appearance in front of you not convincing enough?"
Catalina shrugged her shoulders. "Of course." He needs no reason for belief. He only believes in his own instincts. He believed what he saw with his eyes.
"Yes if you don't believe it," he said. Nick gave up on convincing. More precisely, he had no intention of convincing. "But that's why I came here" he continued. He looked around and saw Catalina.
"Because of Tatiana?"
Nick nodded. "You think it's because of you?"
"I'm not that stupid" he replied. Thinking Nick came for her, impossible. He never expected Nick to appear in front of him. Honestly, he doesn't like it.
Nick chuckles. "Alright, enough bases," he said. Soon he introduced himself. "I'm Nick Anderson, Tatiana's manager." Then he looked at Catalina, waiting for her reaction. Some people were surprised to find out who he was. How Catalina reacted, that's what he wanted to see.
Gaining a hopeful look from the man next to her, Catalina rolled her eyeballs. "Should I say WOW?" tanyanya, confused. He doesn't know how to react. No. gabe. He doesn't know how to express. Seeing Nick so confident, should he give a compliment? It's not a big deal, just a compliment. The problem is that he does not admire her. There is no reason to praise him.
Nick took a long breath. "If you don't want to do it, you don't have to bother doing it" he said, resigned. In his country, his name is pretty much taken into account. Many artists want to be treated by him. Many people were amazed at him. But he did not expect Catalina's reaction to be that flat. And that bothers him a little.
"Alright," Catalina replied indifferently and failed to notice Nick's change in expression. "Now continue." First, he was lazy to hear something if not about Tatiana. And secondly, he doesn't like to talk to strangers. To him, Nick is just a stranger. Regardless of how close Nick is to Tatiana, it's none of his business. The one close to her is Tatiana, not her.
Instead of continuing, Nick shook his head. "Tsk tsk." Catalina really is a heartless girl. He forgot the fact that they were different. Although their faces were similar, their characters were one hundred and eighty degrees different.
"Do you want to continue or not?" Catalina's voice rose as the words were thrown. He hates waiting. And he hates wasting his time waiting.
Catalina did not respond. But that doesn't mean he doesn't listen. He just thought, if it was true that Tatiana was naive, was that the reason why she was lying in a coma in the hospital? Being the months of his fellow artists? Or be the parents who adopt it?
"Two months ago, Tatiana had a traffic accident." Nick reopens the sound. "Many strange things happen. I mean, I'm not sure it was really an accident."
Catalina jerks. All the assumptions in his head, crap. "You mean, it was intentional?"
"I guess."
"Do you have any evidence?" Catalina became a little enthusiastic.
"No. The thing is, the truck driver was found guilty." There's been a perpetrator, there can't be any more swarming. At least that's the procedure. Plus the absence of evidence, it all just ends.
Catalina gave a rough sigh. "So, the truck driver hit him?"
"Uh huh."
"You're sure it was intentional?" Not that he did not believe it, it was just the lowest assumption of many possibilities, but as time went on, he could not even think of anything else.
It is not impossible that all are purely the fault of truck drivers, but it is not impossible also if the truck or truck driver is manipulated. The problem is intentional or unintentional. So any possibility could happen.
Nick took a long breath. "That's why you have to come with me to Europe."
"I'll think about it" Catalina replied. Not that he didn't want to go, he didn't have any money. How can he leave if he has no money?
"You really have to think about it, Catalina" Nick said. "I'm serious." Nick wanted to say something, but he didn't. It's happened more than once. He hesitated even though the words he wanted to say were already on the tip of his tongue.
"I'm serious too" Catalina chimed in. He also seriously has no money.
Catalina's answer frustrated Nick. Catalina's reluctance, it's impossible that she can't feel it. He was running out of ways to convince her.
There is one way, a way that may be very effective.
Should he use it that way?
No need to think about it, Nick had already made up his mind and said, "The problem is, Tatiana is using illegal drugs." Nick finally managed to say everything smoothly. But after that, the atmosphere turned tense.
***
After everything Nick said, Catalina had no desire to do anything.
He's tired.
Tired physically and mentally.
He wants to rest.
He wants to sleep.
But he can't. He was too tired and his brain could not stop thinking. Until the grayish rays of dawn appeared, he was still in the same place. His eyes stared blankly and he was reluctant to find out how long he was awake. Probably since the man's departure, a few hours ago.
Nick's words before going ringing in his ear like a broken cassette. Pointing at the same thing over and over again. Like a curse, it terrorizes him. Makes him think of nothing else. The only thing that existed was to make him afraid, anxious and worried.
When the sunlight appeared, he dropped his body on the bed and cried sobbing.
Tatyana..
It is the most precious to him.
Why Tatiana became like this, was something that was never imagined. Don't be imagined, think about it not. But how could it all be like this?
He laughed in the middle of his tears. "It's funny." He said while wiping his tears. After all that happened, hardship after difficulty, sacrifice for sacrifice, struggle for the struggle that he had been doing all this time, if the ends could not meet Tatiana, then what was all that he did?
Thinking about it, tears flocked down his cheeks.
It can't be like this.
He can't give up.
Seeing his passport and plane ticket lying on the table, Nick gave him two days to think. If he agrees, he can go to the airport and fly to Europe. But he sure did not need to wait until two days, because now he had got the answer.
