The Eastern Continent Swordsman

The Eastern Continent Swordsman
CH. 46 – Days of Retaliation

The thick smoke that enveloped Yimin island slowly faded away. The sun's beam began to break through the thin smoke and drop its light right above the jet-black faces of Shamo's people. The faces showed patches of clear water coming out of their skin, as if they were bathed in their own sweat.

The Shamo people, silent so afraid to let out the words. To breathe, they inhaled half. Fearful if they make a move that is not liked by the young man who is now standing upright with an intimidating look.

That day, Zhou Fu's arrival had managed to turn things around perfectly. Moments before Zhou Fu's arrival, the Shamos had been partying to enjoy the beheading of Bingdao's captives. Some of them even made jokes for Bingdao's captive heads that slipped from his neck. Their laughter exploded when they saw the headless bodies grazing blood into the grass. It was as if the terrible event was a very pleasant show.

“Who wants to go to hell first?” Zhou Fu asked as he pointed his sword at the terrified Shamo people.

As it turned out, it was not just Shamo's military that was made frightened by Zhou Fu's intimidating expression. Some of Bingdao's captives were also blinded because they still did not know Zhou Fu's identity. Inwardly, they were still hopeful that Zhou Fu was actually a descendant of the swordsman Bingdao.

“If no one answers, fine! I'm the one who set the order!” Zhou Fu pointed his sword right at the burly man who had become an algoco a moment before. The burly man then knocked his body to the ground with two knees bent. He bowed his hands and begged Zhou Fu for forgiveness.

“T...Young Master.I'm sorry, I was just following orders…

“Shut! You clearly enjoyed the slaughter you committed, was it a form of coercion? Bullshit, cuih!” Zhou Fu spat while pointing his sword right beside the algoco's neck.

“I will not dirty my sword with your contemptible blood! Someone, give him a sword!” Zhou Fu gave the order, the Shamo militaries looked at each other in confusion. None of them dared to move so scared and trembling. After a few seconds no one responded, Zhou Fu rebuked a second time. Only then did one of them approach to extend a sword at the algoco.

The burly man shook his head as a sign that he would not accept the sword. While someone who carried a sword to him still remained in his position with trembling feet and hands.

“Accept that sword or you'll be even more sorry!” Zhou Fu snapped in a slow but terrifying voice. The burly man received the sword with an irregularly moving hand, a sign that the horror in his mind was enough to overwhelm him.

“Now, finish your life with your own hands! Otherwise, you will receive a punishment more painful than death!” Zhou Fu's command was still in a slow but heavy voice, making the burly man's ears goosebumps instantly. Presumably, he felt that being killed by someone else would be more relieving than killing himself. But the man also feared the so-called threat more terrifying than death.

The burly man closed his eyes, his lips trembling with the urge to cry and scream. He slit his own throat with a sword in his hand. His body collapsed to the ground instantly, blood pouring down from his neck, his body pounding violently as his sword fell down just before all his veins were cut off.

People also witnessed how grave a death that came slowly. They saw that the algoco was glaring at the eyes without blinking though, a sign that the person was enduring unimaginable pain. No one laughed at the death of the algoco because the scene was even too horrible to see.

“All crimes will be paid in full by the perpetrator, if you do not want to pay dearly for a crime, you do not need to commit a crime. Remember these words of mine!” Tukas Zhou Fu kicked the body of the algoco into the captives of Bingdao. It seemed like Zhou Fu wanted to impart a valuable lesson to the Bingdao captives.

“Let go of all the bonds of the captives,” Zhou Fu orders on a man whom he has just released his rope, “you all have families who may be currently waiting for you. Go back to your family and do not be surprised if some of your family turns out to be lifeless. Life is not fun sometimes,” continued Zhou Fu gave a warning.

The Bingdao captives were both relieved and sad at the same time. The rest, they feel lucky because fate has brought them together with a young man who may someday be known by the world. They no longer cared about Zhou Fu's identity, which they were sure that in the near future, Zhou Fu would definitely become the youth who had stirred the martial world.

“Young master... What is the name of this young master? Ehm... It is nothing, at least we as citizens of Yimin want to remember the services of the Young Master who has saved our island of residence,” asked one of the prisoners who seemed to be around forties years.

“Uncle can call me Zhou Fu. If uncle asks where I come from, to be honest I am still looking for him as well,” Zhou Fu replied with a faint smile at the end of his sentence. It was obvious that Zhou Fu at that time also began to question his own identity.

“B...Alright Mr. Zhou, our lifetime Yimin citizens will remember the services of Mr. Zhou! If at any time the young master needs something, we are always ready to give support!” the man bowed in respect to Zhou Fu. Even though he was older, he felt like he needed to pay his respects to the young man who had saved his citizens.

“For the time being, my request is to save the ones that can still be saved and bury the corpses all over this island to avoid any diseases that might arise from the presence of decomposing bodies. Or, maybe you can also throw it into the ocean if it is necessary,” Zhou Fu continued to give his final order and was greeted with a nod in unison by the prisoners of Bingdao.

***

After the departure of the Bingdao captives, Zhou Fu again tried the Shamo military, which numbered about two hundred and fifties. The two hundred and fifty men eventually died in the same way as the algoco. Unfortunately, of all these people, Zhou Fu did not discover Ming Tian's existence. Presumably the swordsman Rao Guohoa took Ming Tian away.

“Alright, in the second chance, they cannot escape again!” Zhou Fu nodded as he put his sword back into the shell. He took a deep breath to end the blood-filled day. Zhou Fu recalled Guichuan, the ship Shen Shen boarded, which was currently being taken over by Rao Guohoa. He also remembered that he had to report the sad news to one of his crew.

“Grandfather Li Xian was right. Weak people always receive bad treatment from strong bad people. Does this law also apply where Shen Shen lives? Is peace really hard to get?” Zhou Fu again let out a long sigh. It turned out that life in the outside world was indeed harsh, and he suddenly felt quite lucky to have been raised by such a great person like Li Xian's grandfather.
