The Eastern Continent Swordsman

The Eastern Continent Swordsman
CH. 80 – Death without Cause

A giant wall was already visible before the eyes. The wall is a pile of natural rocks arranged in such a way as to rise as high as thirty meters. Reportedly, the rocks that make up the giant wall are not ordinary stones but rocks that descend from the sky to have a resilience that cannot be measured by human strength.

History says that ancient human ancestors built giant walls to create world peace. At the time the wall was built, human civilization had just recovered from an era of great chaos. That is why human ancestors flocked to spend the rest of their ages building a new civilization that would save the descendants of mankind.

That is, no one really knows who and how the original story behind the construction of the giant wall. What is clear is that today the wall is a dividing line between two types of people, namely ordinary people and honorable people from among nobles.

“So, my grandfather used to live in a place like this?” Zhou Fu muttered inwardly as one hand touched his chin and the other held the horse's steering rope. He imagined the possibilities of Li Xian's grandfather's life. Was his grandfather a descendant of nobles? Or, was his grandfather an important person of the kingdom? Or, was his grandfather just a delinquent who disturbed the peace of the noble territory?

Zhou Fu's delusion about Li Xian's grandfather soon dissipated when the expanse of the city's scenery gushed into his eyes. Zhou Fu was quite amazed and surprised to see the order of the city within the gigantic wall. The houses and trees are arranged in such a way as to make the eyes pampered when looking at it. No rickety huts, no small merchants selling anywhere, no beggars running around. All the things inside the giant wall were all things that were pleasing to the eye.

“Master Horseman, is your home still far away?” zhou Fu asked Feng Yaoshan when he began to feel strange because their journey did not stop even though they had walked many miles away from the position of the entrance of the giant wall.

“Away said? We haven't even reached a quarter of the way!” Feng Yaoshan replied with a frown. He was increasingly curious about where Zhou Fu came from until the teenager did not understand the composition of the giant wall Caihong.

“Young Master, it seems like this Young Master friend is only the first time to Caihong. If I'd like, I'd be Young Master's friend's guide,” a horseman seemed to be trying to be friendly to Feng Yaoshan and Zhou Fu. Feng Yaoshan nodded his head and let the bodyguard explain things to Zhou Fu.

“Young Master, may I know the name of Mr?” the man asked the horse as he brought the horse closer to Zhou Fu's horse.

“I Zhou Fu... Uncle?” Zhou Fu replied with a question anyway.

“Call me Jing's bodyguard, Mr. Zhou. It seems that Master is from a faraway land, I wonder where Young Master Zhou came from.”

“Oh, same. I am also curious,” Zhou Fu replied briefly. The answer had at least stunned Jing's bodyguard for a moment, and then the bodyguard asked back.

“Yes, some people do not know their homeland. But at least everyone has a home. If you may know, where is Young Master Zhou's house?”

“Jing's bodyguard, you just spoke to a person who also doesn't have a home. By the way, shouldn't Jing's bodyguard explain to me about this gigantic wall territory?” Zhou Fu deflected the conversation, if it continued it seemed like the bodyguard just wanted to pry information about him.

“Ah, forgive me this forgetful, Young Master. So, right now we are in the outer layer of the Nobles Country. This was the city of the Seven Class nobles. That means, in the second tier later we will arrive at the territory of the Sixth Class nobles. And so on until the seventh tier is the residence of Young Master Feng.”

“What? Layer seven? How long does it take to get there?”

“If tonight we do not rest, then we will arrive in the territory of First Class nobles two days ahead.”

“We don't need rest, we continue this journey without staying.”

Not yet had Jing's bodyguards answered Zhou Fu's orders, their attention fixed on the fuss from the front. Suddenly, the line of soldiers at the front appeared to stop abruptly. Out of curiosity, Zhou Fu spurred his horse to check on the situation.

Upon entering the family residence that died in unison, Zhou Fu and Jing's bodyguards immediately saw two healers talking in front of the crowd. Two government doctors reported that they had found no strange bodies in the house. The two healers also confirmed that if they had done all they could and the rest, they said that the death of the four was nothing but the will of fate.

“Master healer, can I see those four corpses?” Zhou Fu seemed to interrupt the healer's speech. Initially, the physician was about to reject Zhou Fu's request because Zhou Fu did not use any noble attributes. However, after seeing Zhou Fu coming along with the Caihong military soldiers, they did not dare to refuse Zhou Fu's request.

“Please, please Young Master see it,” one healer invited Zhou Fu to remove the covering cloth from the corpses laid on the floor.

Zhou Fu examined one of the bodies in the family. The suspicion is true, from the traces caused in the bodies of the victims, it is certain that one family was experiencing fungal poisoning. It was the same fungus that Zhou Fu had found on the ship of the Shamo people.

“Jing Guards, we'll spend the night here. I hope that Jing's bodyguard will inform the troupe immediately,” Zhou Fu told Jing's bodyguard and was immediately replied with a nod by the person. “Oh yes, I want Jing's bodyguards to disperse the crowd because there are things I want to talk about in private with these healers,” Zhou Fu continued.

“Good, Young Master Zhou. I'll execute the order Sir!” jing's bodyguard replied obediently, he felt he had to obey Zhou Fu's orders because Young Master Feng Yaoshan himself seemed to not dare to oppose Zhou Fu's words.

“Holy master, there are many things I want to ask you gentlemen!” zhou Fu said for a moment as the crowd began to thin.

The two healers in front of him were seen displaying worried expressions. Making Zhou Fu even more confident in his assumptions.

“From the change in your face, it seems I do not need to ask in detail. Why do you say that there is no strangeness in the bodies of these corpses?” Zhou Fu asked probing.

Sure enough, the two healers began to break out in cold sweat. Only then did they get a hindrance when examining the state of the nobles who died suddenly. The two healers were seen pushing each other, like commanding each other who should answer Zhou Fu's question.

“Tu... Young Master, I have some gold pieces in my pocket. Is that enough or is it still lacking?” ask one of the healers between doubt, fear, and worry. He believes there is no one on earth who does not like money unless they are insane.

“Golden piece you said??” Zhou Fu looked glared at the two of them.

“M... Sorry, if we were mistaken, Sir. Oh, I have a beautiful daughter. You can pay a visit to my residence and see for yourself how beautiful my daughter is!” the second healer turned to try his luck through the offer of his daughter. According to him, if a man is not tempted by money, it could be that they will be tempted by women.

“Gentlemen, my question is still not answered!” Zhou Fu reminded back, “don't switch the conversation, just answer the question I asked!” said Zhou Fu in a flat tone.

“We... We just run the task, Mr...” said one of the healers and simultaneously they both kowtowed to the floor, “Master, forgive us. We only do what we have been told.”.

At the same time, a bearded man entered the residence escorted by several elite guards.

“Who dares to disturb my territory?” the man snapped furiously, from the look in his eyes, it could clearly be seen if he was pointing at Zhou Fu.
