Three lights flashed through the air at high speed like falling meteors. The people walking down there were unaware, the three figures that flashed above them were like shadows and stopped inconspicuously forming a pair of robed men and women as well as a white tiger that changed its size to be as small as a cat on the arm of the robed woman.
The blue iris of the little tiger looked around sharply. The perception was wider and sharper so it shocked the couple when jumping from the sling. The little tiger bent its four legs alertly while sniffing.
"Bai He, what's wrong?" The old woman lowered her head, gently rubbing the little guy's head while the little tiger let out a small roar trying to tell something.
The man next to her frowned. Then his gaze was directed to the place where the little guy's view landed. The woman also followed until she saw two inconspicuous figures of youth walking past.
When the two young men saw the pair of robed men and women as well as the wary little tiger, their eyes showed surprise then looked at each other before finally approaching the couple.
The two young men ran and stopped in front of them then bowed politely. They had an incredible aura that contrasted with their simple clothes. Of course the couple felt the two young men were not as simple as they seemed.
"We salute Senior Xie. This junior received the trust of a friend from the Xie Clan to accompany the journey of the two seniors before reaching the Xie Clan." One of them spoke politely and regularly, while the young man next to him grinned giving a stupid and awkward impression.
The couple looked at each other, their gaze flat on the two suspicious youths. The old man spoke in a deep tone, "How did you know we want to go to the Xie Clan? Who sent you?"
The polite young man smiled faintly then glanced at the little tiger who was still acting wary. "The White Tiger was only owned by the previous Clan Chief Xie, Xie Wang. The news regarding the previous Clan Leader Xie going back has already spread, so our friend wants to escort the two seniors. Over the past 7 years, Zhongbu Empire has changed a lot, it might confuse the two seniors."
The man looked at the speechless young man full of anticipation and suspicion. Then looked at the other young man who was still grinning foolishly as if at a loss for words. Just looking from here, he could already guess the foolish young man was afraid to see him. Only, the young man who spoke was quite clever.
"This old man wants to know, which friend of the Xie Clan sent you?" The man is still suspicious.
The young man's smile deepened. "Miss Xie, Xie Ran."
Hearing the two character names caused the couple's heart to beat faster. Their hearts were filled with happiness hearing the name they had longed for so much, yet they suppressed their happiness well even though their gazes had changed.
While the little tiger below squinted his eyes. He did not have a good impression of the character of the name. Also, the annoying breath left in their bodies pissed him off half to death.
The man coughed to neutralize his reaction and still tried to be dignified. It could have been that the two young men were deceiving and it turned out that they were murderers in the name of their grandchildren. It can't be allowed. "You can't cheat in broad daylight, Miss Xie won't send a fool to pick someone up."
A fool? The polite young man glanced at the clumsy young man next to him with an accusatory look. He who was stupid was silent from the start and just put on a smile like an idiot!
"Sister Yao, is he talking about us?" The clumsy young man whispered very quietly.
The young man smiled more and more 'politely' then replied in a low tone, "He's talking about you."
The clumsy young man fell silent, then scratched his nape feeling awry. It was stupid ...so stupid. Though he had memorized what to say, but once he felt the overwhelming aura of the two figures as well as the hostile gaze of a certain 'cat', he felt drowned.
"Senior, it's only natural not to trust us. Maybe this will make you believe." The young man handed him a white belt with an attractive decoration.
The man was somewhat surprised, whereas the woman by his side received the waist fish carefully as if it was a precious treasure he had seen. The belt was specially made for his grandson when his 10th birthday. It was made of high-grade cloth with rare decorative materials that only existed in the Holy Tower.
At that time, he gave it to his grandson before isolating himself. At first he asked the little girl if she wanted to come with them or not, the little girl chose not to come and received the belt instead and would keep it.
Now, he again saw the belt he gave 7 years ago which showed that the two young men were indeed sent by his grandson!
"Good! Ranran we still remember his looks. Come on, get this old man to her now!" The man was immediately excited after seeing the confession. The longer, the more impatient he was to meet his sweet grandson.
"Good." The young man smiled in relief as he let them walk while he and the clumsy young man were escorting behind.
The clumsy young man was flabbergasted. Seeing how enthusiastic the creepy man was, he could hardly believe it. He thought that man would maintain his oppressive attitude, but who would have thought that it would change so quickly just because of a belt.
He recalled, the unscrupulous girl handed out other valuables from the sleeves to the six of them each as unidentified. It was shared just like that without blinking as if sharing a shot! He did not expect it to be so valuable!
They went to one of the inns to meet the others on the grounds of Miss Xie's orders. The couple had only assented that long on behalf of Miss Xie, not even they were to mind any stupidity of origin on behalf of Miss Xie.
After getting into the inn that had been entirely rented, the couple was somewhat surprised to find the other four youngsters politely welcoming. Even though they were young, they had incredible auras and did not appear as foolish as they had just seen.
Hearing that they were all Miss Xie's schoolmates, the couple became even more relieved that their granddaughter had an amazingly reliable friend. It made them even more impatient to see the development of their grandchildren which they thought should be more extraordinary than these six young people.
Upon seeing the Xie Clan couple, one of the girls who was none other than Mei Liena immediately took out a paper and hooked it to the dove before it was released. He hopes to arrive on time.
Since Yan Yao and Liu Chang had escorted the couple, they rested while the rest of the others just needed to guard. Zhong Xiaorong introduced himself as the Ninth Princess as well as Xie Ran's friend while trying to get along so as not to arouse suspicion. Mei Liena also tagged along after returning from sending the pigeon letter. While Zhou Kui was in charge of taking care of the cute little tiger to the point of wanting to cry.
Pei Xi did not say much from the start. He smiled kindly, and replied when asked. His mind was not calm, while his gaze often looked out the window as if waiting for something.
He waited for the right moment.
...ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ...
In a dark and damp room filled with moss and dust, a girl lay on a small wooden bed in a cell. The cell surrounded by an iron prison with a small gap.
While the girl lay limp with large handcuffs and chains tied her hands and feet so that she could not move freely.
His eyes opened slowly, looking at the dark room and there was only lighting from a small ventilation hole above it. He was convinced this was in the basement and he was not surprised, especially when he realized that his hands and feet were handcuffed.
The handcuffs used are not handcuffs. It serves to suppress one's spiritual power so that as powerful as anything one would become trash just from being bound by handcuffs.
He moved away from the bed while crawling to the side of the prison cell. A few moments later, someone from outside the cell came to bring food.
The man's gaze was blank when nearby while tucking a paper behind a tray before it was finally given to the girl and left.
The girl remained calm, looking at the food underneath with a faint smile. They are doing well, he just needs to continue the next step.
Taking the paper and reading it, there was no reaction as if he had anticipated all of it. He had been lying in this place for several days, locked up and without saying anything. Finally he had a chance to move.
"Long Long, what percentage of my success is against him?" The girl who was none other than Xie Ran was asking the dragon spirit in her consciousness.
Long Long Long remained silent for a while before replying, "Maybe six out of ten."
Xie Ran nodded slowly. "That's enough."
"It would be better if you used the dragon aura against him," Long Long said. He felt Huai Mao was very strong, it would be difficult to deal with him if Xie Ran had not reached the saint level.
"I know." Xie Ran remained calm.
"But if you can't, don't force it. Isn't the Lord God's bodyguard with you? Have them summon the Lord God so that the chances of victory can increase perfectly."
Long Long Long flabbergasted. Has this stone lady started to open her heart? "You want to fight by his side?"
Xie Ran was silent for a while feeling awry and clucking. "I'm the one who has to stand on the front line because this is my mission. Since Qu Xuanzi is the one who gave me the mission, then I should advance on the frontlines, not the ones to be protected."
"Excellent principles, I'm very happy to hear them." Long Long Long said in a mocking tone.
Xie Ran turned the eyeball ignoring the ravings. He sat in silence while eating food prepared for prisoners. Although it is bland, it can still be eaten because it is hungry.
"Aren't you wondering what he is and where he is?" Long Long Long suddenly rambled again, yet his tone became soft without ridicule making Xie Ran's mood change.
Xie Ran had been too busy, only now he was 'free' enough to serve Long Long. But Long Long Long was not entirely wrong, he began to think about what Long Long Long had just said.
Half a month has passed, or even a month has passed. I don't know when they will meet again, but Xie Ran has a premonition they will meet in the near future. If that's true, it's possible that when he was with his grandparents and then introduced him without Huai Mao's problems.
He hopes so. Hope everything is done quickly and everything is fine.
Not long after Xie Ran regained consciousness and ate food from the prison, the demons came to open the prison door and dragged Xie Ran out.
They brought Xie Ran out of the dungeon. His chain-filled appearance highlighted the clan dwellers. Xie Ran looked sliced with white clothes that had been full of dust. But his gaze was not without life, it was flat and looked at each person with a sharp glint.
No one dared to come closer or say anything. The foolish figure they had seen before had now turned so terrifying in their eyes that it did not dare to offend despite being caught though.
The demons took Xie Ran to the main hall. There, all the elders gathered, there were also Xie Chen and Xie Nu as well as the main disciples of the clan. Huai Mao sat on the chairmanship gracefully. Her beautiful face glowed supported by black clothes which added to the dark and mysterious impression within her.
The arrival of the handcuffed Xie Ran made the atmosphere even more tense. Xie Ran's shoulders were pressed down, forced to kneel before the clan head's throne where Huai Mao was.
Huai Mao looked at Xie Ran who was looking at him coldly. He smiled, before finally chuckling at how pitiful Xie Ran was in his hands.
He killed Di Yushi? Killing Mo Shenxi and the Tang Family? Since the little girl was already in his hands, then Xie Ran was nothing! Those people were too weak to handle this immature little girl.
"Xie Ran, how are you?" Huai Mao looked at Xie Ran mockingly. She had acted as a good mother before, but who would have thought that she had been fooled by Xie Ran who pretended to be an idiot. Really pissed him off.
Xie Ran did not reply, just looking at him emotionlessly as if there was no connection to him. That attitude made Huai Mao somewhat annoyed, but he managed to suppress it with a beautiful smile that stunned anyone.
"You already know about your grandfather's return from exile, I'm so happy for you. It's just that, without seeing you, he'll be depressed. I've been kind enough to take you home, and try to keep him from worrying about a bad boy like you. Will you thank me?"
Xie Ran did not reply, instead raising an eyebrow as if saying "for what?" which makes a lot of people unhappy. It was just that Huai Mao did not care much about it.
"Xie Ran oh Xie Ran, you are cold-hearted indeed." Huai Mao smiled smirkingly. "This time, I invited you here to talk about something, as well as bringing you back to the Xie Clan 'officially'. You know, even though I'm not your real mother, I've been taking care of you for 7 years since your poor mother left. So, I'm not gonna get rid of you just for my own benefit."
"Is that what you want to talk about?" Xie Ran finally spoke. His lips were interested in forming a smile that left everyone there stunned.
That smile was not the smile they should have witnessed. Despite being bound by chains, they still felt a sense of horror within that smile. It was the same as the smile Huai Mao threw that made the atmosphere become even more tense as if there was gunpowder under their feet.
Huai Mao remained calm then stood up from the throne. He walked over to Xie Ran slowly without taking his eyes off. Until he finally raised his hand, making the pendant hidden behind Xie Ran's clothes lift up, showing himself in the air.
"Good stuff, I remember taking this before. Are you the one who made a mess in the Lotus Pagoda and destroyed my seal?"
Xie Ran tilted his head, not answering, but the truth was certain that he did. That's not questionable anymore.
"You have the ability." Huai Mao was not stingy in praise, then his countenance became sullen after searching for the aura he wanted to look for. "I remember there was someone in there. Even though I didn't recognize him back then, I was pretty sure it was him."
"You want to ask where he is?" Xie Ran knew Huai Mao's intent was Qu Xuanzi. It's unfortunate that the man is outside. Xie Ran continued, "Unfortunately, even though you asked where she is, I also can't answer because I don't know. Although I know, I won't answer either."
"I'm not demanding." Huai Mao smiled obliquely then pulled the pendant into his grasp. "There's a remnant of his aura here, I clearly remember it was the same aura Xie Yun then moved on to you 7 years ago so I couldn't kill you. At first I wondered, I could kill you in the lake back then but suddenly when I came back with Chen'er, I couldn't kill you."
Xie Ran frowned. Did he ever meet Huai Mao before his 10th birthday?
"It is a matter of great regret for me that I should have confirmed your death just then before Wen Xi came. At that time, you were just a stupid kid sulking, just a little touch of it would be dead. After that day, I thought you'd changed a lot like it wasn't you."
Xie Ran was speechless thinking about the day he drowned. He had no memory that he had met Huai Mao so he thought 'Xie Ran' used to fall into the lake for being careless before he came to this body. But he never thought, the real Xie Ran actually died, not an accident. And the one who killed him was Huai Mao!
"Why did you tell me?" Xie Ran covered his shock and looked at Huai Mao with a deep smile.
"Just a little reminiscing about our first meeting. Isn't that too effective?" Huai Mao laughed amusedly feeling a sense of resentment within Xie Ran. "You know? When you fall, you don't even have time to scream, just be silent like a sinking rock and get further and further away. Given that, you look a lot like your mother. Even to death, your mother was still as silent as a statue on the bed without begging for mercy or saying anything else pleasant. You guys are so boring."
Xie Ran tried to suppress the emotions in his heart, his smile remained and increasingly looked forced. He chuckled as he looked at Huai Mao with a flash of hatred. "You're having a lot of fun."
"True, you three-person families are very similar. However, when Xie Yun died, you wanted to know what he was trying to say?" huai Mao asked, completely ignoring Xie Ran's increasingly shaken emotions. "He said to let you live. He already knew my identity when the hypnosis ended, but he died sooner. Come to think of it, I have already paid his will well by not killing you. Thank your good father."
Huai Mao laughed at the thought of how funny the day was for him. He looked at Xie Ran who lowered his gaze, looking very pitiful. He feels comforted.
"Xie Ran, I'm so envious of you," said Huai Mao smiling wryly, then again sitting on his throne. "Since childhood, you were filled with family love that even willingly died for you. You should be grateful. Very different from me. When we are born, there is no such thing as family. I had to survive on my own from hunting demon beasts for thousands of years until arriving at the Underworld Palace." Then he looked at the pendant in his hand with a complicated look. "If he doesn't come, accidentally saves me from the chase, I've been dead many times. Even after finding out that I was an intruder of the sky palace, he still let me go."
Huai Mao smiled wryly. Had he dared to reveal his identity when Qu Xuanzi was still hiding in the cave, he wouldn't have been like this. Although the man looked indifferent and extremely cold, the man still let him go when caught sneaking into the sky palace. Although he was eventually expelled, at least the man did not kill him.
Huai Mao was sure, the man still remembered him and he had a glimmer of hope to acknowledge. He did not believe the man's last words that he would not have a chance if he did the same. He was his friend during his time in the Underworld, the man who gave him a name and gave him a chance at life.
Both the Demon Emperor and the Celestial Emperor, they were the same people who gave him names. He would not give them to anyone, including Xie Ran!
The sound of laughter suddenly broke out so amusedly without being able to stop, as if what he heard was just a joke. Their gazes were all directed at Xie Ran who was laughing while looking at Huai Mao, as if he was whining an incredible joke that made his laughter unable to stop.
Huai Mao's face became extremely dark. He put the pendant on the chair he was sitting on and then stood up. A purple mist flashed so quickly from his hand, hurtling towards Xie Ran surrounding his body.
Xie Ran's laughter came to a halt, he saw himself engulfed in a monstrous purple mist and filled with pressure until his entire body was uneasy. He looked at Huai Mao full of fearless provocation.
"Is that all you can do?" Xie Ran spoke in a defiant tone. He chuckled slightly then glanced towards Xie Nu. "Little sister, are you going to let your mother take care of me more than you?"
Xie Nu clenched his fists and was about to advance against Xie Ran, but the elders stopped him immediately until he could only remain silent.
"Xie Ran, you take it easy, I'll take good care of you. Since our conversation has been completed, then I will 'invite officially' back to the Xie Clan."
Just when Huai Mao's voice fell into everyone's ears, the black fog penetrated Xie Ran's body little by little until a sick moan came out from Xie Ran's mouth accompanied by blood coming out from the corner of his mouth.
