The Price Of Sincerity

The Price Of Sincerity
I Trust You

Jane sat on her bed with a blanket covering her body from waist to toe. He was daydreaming, and his eyes did not blink once. Suddenly Dev comes while giving her a glass of warm water. He's not expressing. He stared straight and stiff.

“I cannot keep my chastity. Am I going to be blamed all my life? That bad... They don't know what's going on and no one believes me,” Jane stared at the spotless clear water in the glass. At first glance he can see himself. “Everyone looks at me in disgust, as if looking at dirt.”

Devan sat on the edge of the bed, he grabbed Jane's injured hand from the broken glass and treated her. “Jane.. Everyone has a past, a present and a future. They leave behind what happened in the past, and live the present for their future lives. You can also Jane, you can also leave that past behind and live your new life.”

“So yes. Maybe you're right everyone has a past, and it seems like you have such wonderful memories that you just need to remember them, not forget them. But what about me? I couldn't get out of there even if I wanted to, because those memories were already traumatized to me. You can't equate a scratch with a wound, Dev. You won't be able to understand what it's like in my position.”

“Not so I mean, I—.”

“I want to own.” Jane immediately pulled her hand from Devan, she didn't want to hear anything more from the man.

“But Jane,.”

“Leave me alone?!” Jane banged. The first time for him was speaking in such a high tone to Dev that he always adored. It instantly made the man understand and left him.

“Good. Contact me if you need anything.” Devan turns off the lights and stares at Jane in the doorway in disappointment before closing it. He was eager to remain there, but it seemed that the woman really did not want his presence.

Jane didn't answer, she wouldn't because she doesn't need anything and anyone right now. He just wanted to be alone, just wanted to be alone without anyone accompanying him.

“If I can, I really want to get out of there. I want to forget it and start a new life. If can..” Her tears instantly came out endlessly as soon as she lay down. He cried bitterly in the darkness of the night and the cold of the room.

It's almost midnight. A man was knocking on the door of Jane's apartment. He stood there for a long time and there was no answer. That's Max, he's pacing the hallway. Occasionally check towards the door waiting for it to open. But for almost five minutes, there was no change.

Max is not the type of person who is patient, he took another alternative by remembering one by one number to unlock the door. Fortunately, her memory is still strong, she can remember the key entered by Jane last week without one.

Darkened. Max picks up the phone in his pants pocket and turns on the flashlight. He walked a few steps and found a light switch on the wall not far from where he was standing, Max turned it on.

“Jane. Are you here? Jane..” Max went through every corner of the apartment. He saw no one and heard nothing. Until his steps and eyes stopped when he saw a door not far from the sofa, in his mind most likely it was Jane's room.

Clamps. Door opens.

The lights are off, but once the door is wide open it immediately shows Jane who is asleep in bed and wrapped in a blanket. Light lamps outside the room provide lighting. The woman seemed to be tightly hugging the blanket in front of her chest.

At that time Max was relieved to see Jane. He closed the door slowly, leaving a slight gap and walked closer to the side of the bed. He stared at Jane, the woman seemed to be sleeping very well. But the expression on his face could not lie if the woman was not doing well. Coupled with the tear marks on her cheeks and the presence of sleeping pills on the table.

Max slowly changes Jane's sleeping position to face her. It seemed like the sleeping pills were working well, Jane was sound asleep and not bothered in the slightest by her presence. Max looked at the old Jane's face, he wiped away the tears that were still left at the end of the woman's eyes.

“I'm sorry.” said Max while stroking Jane's cheek gently. He drew closer to Jane, and pulled the woman into his arms. “I'm really sorry.”

**

The night passed so quickly, the light of the morning sun instantly burst in and illuminated as Max opened the automatic window curtain that was there. She immediately lay down again beside Jane before her curtains opened completely. Blocking the light from directly hitting Jane's eyes.

Despite that, Jane suddenly woke up, she opened her eyes slowly. Feeling sore and a little difficult to open, he blinked his eyes many times. He seemed to see the silhouette of someone before him. And the first person on his mind was Devan.

“Dev? Are you that?” Jane frowned, her eyes still not fully open. Up to one kiss on his lips instantly made his eyes able to see properly. Because there's no way Devan would kiss her.

“Do I look like him to you?” Max returned to lie facing Jane after kissing her, making her elbow a pedestal to hold her head from falling onto the pillow. The man's dimples greeted him again.

“Max, what are you doing here?” Jane immediately sat down and kept her distance from Max as the man's hand moved as if to grab her. “How can you get in?”

“Oh it. Dev took you, so I thought he was taking you home. So I came here, but when I knocked on the door there was no answer. I've been thinking about the password you put in last week and luckily my memory is correct. I'm worried about you, Jane.” Max sat down with a bad feeling, he entered without permission and slept in someone else's bed.

“Worrying about me? Don't you know everything? Aren't you disgusted to see me? I—.”

Max immediately approached Jane, hugged her and said, “I won't ask, and don't say anything. It's all over and I trust you. You don't have to explain anything.”

I trust you.

I trust you.

I trust you...

Those three words kept ringing in his mind ever since Max called them. Jane's tears came out without warning, she cried in the man's arms and made the T-shirt worn by Max wet because of it. For the first time, she heard three words she really wanted to hear all this time ‘I believe you’.
