The Price Of Sincerity

The Price Of Sincerity
Devan's engagement

Two weeks later, Devan's engagement.

A notification appears on Jane's phone screen, an incoming message from Shara. In the message, Shara asks Jane for certainty to be present at Devan's engagement event which will take place at night. Jane, who was drying her hair, finished the bath, replies to Shara with a voice message if she will be present but a little late.

There's no way she's not present on the happy day of a man who's already treated her well other than Shara, though the word ‘mang’ is more fitting to mention her to Shara than the man. Because he put his heart on the man who will be engaged, ever or maybe—still.

Jane who coincidentally met Devan who was his senior at the time. They are often in one of the campus organizations that make the two know each other and become close. Although they were originally both on their own, they had no lovers. But a semester has passed since their closeness Devan established a relationship with a woman from the art department, Hanna Gerald. The woman he's getting engaged to now.

Once upon a time Jane kept a distance from Devan but the man still approached her, because in her eyes Jane was a ‘adik perempuan’. More than a friend, but nothing more. Until they graduated from campus they are still close to this day. No one knows the relationship ‘adik sak’ it will end when. It could be after this engagement or it could be that the relationship will still survive until later.

At 09:00 pm.

Time passed by so quickly, night came swiftly. Jane and Shara are planning to be late. Shara is already in the parking lot under the front of the apartment building where Jane lives. It didn't take long for her to wait for Jane to get into her car, but she rushed down a few minutes after she received a message that Shara was already in the parking lot. Not wanting to linger, the car left the parking lot and drove to a famous hotel that will be the location of the ter—mewah engagement tonight. It took me half an hour to get there.

“Are you sure you're coming? You said your head still hurts earlier, don't force it.” Shara glanced at Jane sitting next to her while driving well. Although she never heard Jane's confession if she put her heart on Devan, she was already quite sensitive to what she saw. It's just that he doesn't want to complicate the relationship that has been established. He's not gonna ruin that.

“I'm fine. How could I not come,” Jane replied without looking at Shara, she was still looking out the window since she was sitting leaning back from getting into the white car. Shara only responded with a nod of understanding not wanting to ask again. Five minutes passed, Jane no longer looked out the window, she stared straight ahead with her eyes closed.

“Maybe tonight will be the last night I met him.” Jane muttered so quietly, only an indistinct whisper could Shara hear and make her curious.

“You're muttering what?” Shara's eyes imply a taste of ke—ingin knowya. But Jane did not want to mention what she was thinking and she muttered. He doesn't want to look sad on the happy day of the person he loves. For now still he—love.

Parked under a multi-storey building, the acclaimed five-star hotel saw dozens of expensive cars parked around Jane's Renault Koleos. The car he only bought for five hundred million months ago. A car that cannot be compared to the billions of cars around it.

“Ho, you look more ‘wah’ than usual,” Dye standing from the gray sofa while raising both hands parallel to the shoulders. He walked away from the couch he had been sitting on until Max's apartment half an hour ago. The man approached Max who had just walked out of his room. “Looks like you want to be the star tonight, instead of hosting the show later. Wait what is this?” Dye brought her head closer to Max, she closely observed something that was interfering with her vision. A scratch wound under the man's eyes.

Max immediately makes a distance from Dye when the man's hand wants to touch her face. “Do not try to touch me.” Seeing Dye's expression made him wonder what the man saw on his face. Max turned his back without saying any more, turning to his room without closing the door. He stared at the reflection of himself in the long mirror in the room filled with several cabinets filled with clothes. He looked at the handsome face that seemed to glow due to his blue eyes. But that was not what he wanted to see, he scanned his face again and it turned out that there was one scratch on his face. “Only small scratches,” murmur.

Turns out Dye went into her room. She followed Max into the room, “Did you go to your sister's place?” he asked as he looked around at the watch that was neatly lined up in a glass-covered box. He took one, black watch—silver latest output. Limited edition.

“Yes, as long as you know. I went there to visit him after a long time without seeing him, you know what I got first? One slap, he suddenly slapped me. Shit, this must be because of the nails. Fortunately it only scratched a little, otherwise he would not know how much loss he had made to this handsome face of mine.”

“Haha, isn't that worth it for you. One slap alone is not enough in my opinion for the person who disappeared after making a mess on his wedding day.” Dye laughed a little. “I wear your watch yes.” He showed me the watch he had on his wrist.

Looks like it was last month, on the day of her sister's wedding that took place in one of Miller's family's penthouses. Anya Miller married Dom Perl, a wealthy Italian businessman. Of course Max as a sister was present in the marriage, so the problem is the nature of his playboy and the deadly seduction he had. Without her realizing it she was flirting with a woman who was supposed to be her brother-in-law's sister, her brother-in-law.

He really did not know at that time, because at a meeting between families he did not come because there was a business trip to Canada. And his sister-in-law did not seem to recognize him either, their fondness in the hallway was accidentally seen by Dom who was planning to go to the restroom at the time. He recognized his sister but not Max who was back at the time. Seeing that, Dom rushed over and one hard punch landed on Max. Dom beat him several times to make his body collapse and fell to the floor.

Some guests saw it, so it became a warm gossip on that happy day. Anya who realized the man who was hit by her husband was Max immediately separated them. A dark relationship between sister-in-law? That's not funny at all. Yeah, that's the mess Max created back then.
