Quiet Night

Her night. Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds hit the City of Intermediate, a very strong wind blew several roofs of houses in the suburbs. Houses made of wood, some of those who live in the area are less able people. They hide behind tables and hide under mattresses hoping the rain stops.

On the other hand, the middle of the city is dominated by strong and sturdy buildings. The people inside the place just sat down while enjoying a warm drink. The sound of rain made the atmosphere comfortable, and the occasional sound of lightning appeared as if it brought them to tranquility.

A dark hallway in one of the buildings. A man was sitting leaning against the building. His body was soaked in rain water. The man sat hugging his knees while holding back the cold.

"I want some more. I want more" said the man with a shivering body.

He looked up, right at the building in front of him. Something came to his mind, he recalled the words of the mysterious cloaked man he had met this afternoon.

"If you've spent it, you can take it once by tearing this paper apart" said the mysterious man.

The man took out a small paper behind a small bag tied to his thigh. He ripped the paper off.

A small magic circle appeared in his palm. Along with a small bag containing caoy.

The man's expression looked delighted looking at the bag of caoy that had actually appeared before him. He immediately brought his nose to the caoy bag and began to suck it slowly.

"Ah, I remember, the man said there was a more pleasant way." The man tried caoy in a different way.

Somewhere else. A dark and damp dungeon.

"Girlgigyoo!" There was a loud screaming sound along the hallway. The screams of two people were heard colliding with each other.

In a cell illuminated by only two candles. A fat man sat with his hands and feet tied. While a skinny man was hung upside down with his legs tied up on the ceiling of the room, while his head was swayed below.

The two men were tortured by two people inside the cell.

The fat man is Ted. The thin man hanging was Dito, he had been unconscious since his last scream some time ago. Blood poured out of Dito's eyelids, his mouth frothy, and his skin turned blue.

"A Four, this man is dead" said the man who tortured Dito with a small knife.

"What's wrong, this fatty is still alive, even he can survive this torment."

A Four slashed the folds of Ted's stomach slowly. Puddles of blood filled that cell space.

"Jawablah, who is the person behind the caoy spread?" ask A Four who keeps slashing Ted's stomach.

Ted smiled, his expression looking like he wanted to challenge the two people to continue tormenting him.

"You still don't want to answer, do you?" A Four takes a small metal rod whose edges are thin and curved.

A Four began inserting the metal rod between Ted's fingernails.

"I'll give you an experience you'll never forget, even if you die" said A Four, smiling wickedly.

A Three looked away from her face, she had no intention of seeing such torture. Sounds funny, because A Three also tortured Dito worse than A Four.

Ted's roar that endured the pain rang out loud all the way to the other hallways in that place. Even the sound of the storm happening outside was only faint, except for the sound of thunder.

"A Three, A Four, stop it" said a woman standing right behind bars.

"Ah, Miss Saraya is here." The two people were a little surprised because they did not feel Saraya's existence before.

Saraya arrives with Edward. The response of his two subordinates was slightly interrupted by Edward's presence as Saraya often spent time with the man.

"They're very loyal, even if you rip out his heart, his loyalty won't falter" Saraya said.

A Three and A Four knelt before Saraya and crazily said, "We can do more than this, Miss."

"It's good to hear it." Saraya goes into the cell, he approaches Ted who is sitting limp with an incision in his stomach and other injuries.

Saraya pulls a dagger hanging on A Three's waist. The dagger had one rune engraving.

"Just torture her like this, her body was sealed so as not to tell her who told her to" Saraya said.

The three people in the place were shocked.

"How do you know, Miss?" ask Edward.

"I vaguely felt a messy flow of Mana in his body as he was about to say the mastermind."

That's not entirely true, Saraya used an item of hers. A strange elastic little item that was installed right in his eyeballs. That item allowed the user to see invisible curse seals. No one noticed it because the item was disguised by the eyes. Saraya rarely tells small items like this to her subordinates.

Saraya flowed his Mana into the dagger, simultaneously one rune carving shone bluish.

"This is a way to remove the seal. I've found the spot where the seal was planted on his body."

Saraya prepares to stab toward Ted's neck. There was a magic seal that was right on top of her skin, she had to be careful not to stab her in the neck, very risky if it hit her nerves.

Saraya held back her dagger and turned towards the bodyguard.

"City attacked!" the guard shouted with a breath of breath.

"Who dares to attack the City of Intercessors!" The woman's anger instantly overflowed.

They all rushed to leave Ted in the cell. They were shocked when they saw the view from the top of the fortress hill. From a distance, the Intermediate Town lit up brightly, it was a huge fire. Even the heavy rain has not been able to extinguish it.

"There was a strange creature that suddenly attacked the city. At first he was alone, but somehow their numbers were increasing" replied the guard.

Saraya was thinking about what she had missed.

No enemy was detected, even the city was already very tight. Who attacked the city? What is one of the guests? Seems not.

"A Three, A Four."

The two Saraya subordinates instantly prepared to take orders.

"Eight of my subordinates, protect the townspeople even if they have to risk your lives once!"

"Understand!" The two people immediately rushed to the city.

Saraya was getting ready to use the combat gear that the guards had just brought from inside the fort. A high-class combat gear in the form of armor and some reinforcement items.

The black armour was named Black Thunder. Despite covering her entire body, Saraya's movements would remain light as usual. Its defense would increase, even this armor could neutralize magic attacks up to the middle level.

I plan on using this combat gear if I have a chance against that woman. I just want to fight fair and use my full strength, I won't let him cheat.

"Miss Saraya, we don't know the main problem yet. Why are you using combat gear?" ask Edward.

"No, it's probably gonna be a bloody night. Enemies can make a fuss without being noticed by anyone. I'm sure they're not ordinary people."

Lightning strikes around Saraya. The rain was getting heavier, there was no sign the storm would stop.

"Edward, stay in the fort, I don't want you involved" Saraya continued.

Before finishing his words, Saraya pulled Edward's body. His face approached, then he gave her a kiss.

As the kiss progressed, Saraya left and Edward could not say a word.

Edward returned to the fortress with a disappointed expression. He told the guards and servants to take shelter in the basement. He returned to Saraya's room thinking of a plan.

Who did?

That's what he's thinking right now.

Edward bit his thumb while thinking. Because the attack came suddenly, they did not have time to make plans, and Saraya did not bring his troops. It's a serious problem.

"Wait." Edward realized something.

Strange creatures attack in the city. But, how come those of us outside the city are unaware of their movements?

"They had planned it from the beginning. It's the guy from inside the city."

The strange creature in question could not have come from outside the city. There is a possibility ....

Edward stood up from his seat and was about to go to the city to ascertain what was happening in the city as he expected. He opened the door, but someone stood in his way.

That guy was the bodyguard who told me about the assault on the city.

"Prepare the horses, I'll go to the ko-"

The bodyguard kicked Edward in the stomach and immediately threw him back into the room.

Edward looked at the bodyguard, his consciousness slowly decreasing, his vision also becoming blurred.

Now I remember. This guy wasn't wet at all, it was strange that he suddenly appeared right at the time of the incident. Moreover, how could he survive without the slightest injury and tell of all the happenings in the city.

The guard laughed a little. "I was so careless before, but I can't believe you're all so stupid."

Edward looked surprised.

A mysterious man was wearing a black cover coat, but the most striking part was the red mask he was wearing. The shape of the mask looks like an ape, Edward can not see clearly.

"Well, I don't have to introduce myself, because you're gonna be dead soon."

Edward's body trembled, his pupils shrinking in fear.

I don't want to die.

The shadow of a woman appeared in his mind.

"I'm sorry, Saraya."

The mysterious person was in front of him with a dagger. He was preparing to stab Edward at close range.
