“I want to submit my resignation letter, Mr. Hardi.”, Arin said as he held out a white envelope to Mr. Hardi who is the manager at the office where he worked for 5 years.
A cynical look and as if he was berating himself. Arin could only remain silent and wait for his resignation letter to be accepted. His heart pounded quickly filled with anxiety that made his hands tremble.
“Why? Why did you suddenly apply for resign?” the question seemed to be cornered Arin who became mute because it was too tense. “Have you got another job? You do not love your current job. Finding work is difficult, but you are out ..” he said.
“I know it sir,”
“If you know that, why resign? You are a woman .. boyfriend does not have, just ordinary appearance, by the way not becus, who would accept people like you other than this place.” he revealed with so subtle a way of speaking to quip the weakness of Arin.
Arin increasingly can not stand the words of people who never even once appreciate the employees and just casually sit in his room. If he stays, it's the same that Arin will lose himself. Arin tries to hum in his mind so as not to hear the babble of the old man who only attach importance to his entrails. A mouth full of venom that can be poisonous that can kill a person slowly.
“So, are you still sure you want to resign?” the question was once again after speaking insulting to Arin with his big mouth.
“Iya. I am very sure.”
“No need to be processed, you can go out now,” he said while raising his chin towards the door as a sign if Arin's resignation letter had been received.
Arin smiled at him, which meant that he did not have to wait and had to go back to hearing the old man's chatter. “Thank you, sir.” said Arin who then walked out of the room.
Arin was at his desk. A large cardboard box that he brought to take all his belongings in the office. One of the officers approached Arin and put things in. His name is Andin.
“Kak Arin, really out. Later I no longer have friends dong .., even though Kak Arin has helped me a lot,” he said in a sad tone not rena his favorite senior suddenly resigned.
“You have to learn to be friends with others, Ka Fitri is also good.but indeed she rarely speaks ..” Arin said.
“Huff ... continue after this where will you go? Any other jobs?” ask Andin.
“For now still don't know, maybe rest at home. You can still contact me if lonely.” said Arin.
“Serious brother? Asik ..!” andin said, he really is an innocent and pure-hearted child. Hopefully he can survive in this place.
“Please yes, have helped. I go ..” said Arin who finished packing things. Arin was silent for a while, his eyes looking around — looks no one cares about him. Wanting to say goodbye politely, but seeing his coworkers made Arin undo his intentions.
“Be careful on the road,” says Andin.
“Eung. Thank you ...” said Arin, swallowing the pain, he began to walk out of the office room in the 15th floor building.
Walking into the elevator was with several workers from various divisions. They seem to be so busy with their work. At a glance some of them looked towards Arin, as if this scene had become commonplace.
I'm free …
Arin walked out of the building, the warm air that greeted him was very immediate. How can it feel different air when he is still trapped in this building and after getting out of this building. It's breathtaking. Even Arin could feel happy just by breathing air.
This is called freedom …

“WHAT?!! COMING OUT?? ARE YOU SERIOUS ABOUT YOUR CHOICES? WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE AFTER EXITING?” mother asked snapped, she could not accept hearing her son who suddenly decided to quit his job.
Though Arin had just arrived at the door of the house, his shoes had not yet opened but he had been yelled at by his choice.
“Why didn't you discuss it with you?” ask Dad who is also the same as Mom did not accept this shocking news for them.
Arin could only sigh at the sight of his two parents who were not even any different from friends at his workplace. No matter to him. It is ironic that he has just gained freedom but when he arrived at home he even got judgment. Arin was still speechless at how panicked his parents were at arguing before him.
After all since when did I expect anything from them …
Funny …
Arin decides to walk to her room — ignoring her two parents who are still arguing. Mother immediately realized the departure of her son who did not want to listen to advice at all. They think that the second child is really very stubborn and always does things as he pleases. That was their view of Arin who was the second of three children.
BRAKK!!
Arin slammed the door so hard that it made both of his parents speechless. Arin as much as possible does not vent his anger with words that might hurt others, but he always vents his patience on inanimate objects.
Standing behind the door with eyes filled with tears that were held back but eventually fell down as well. An unstoppable taste overflowed along with tears that did not stop flowing. Arin finally cried without a sound.
DUK DUK!!
The sound of the door being pounded very loudly from outside. “ARIN! OPEN DOOR! ARIN!! YOU DIDN'T REALLY RESIGN ‘ DID YOU? ARIN!! YOU HEARD NOTHING!!” snapped the mother who was so angry at her son who even ostracized himself in the room as if he was running away from trouble.
Arin just continued to cry while hitting his chest that felt tight until he began to pant losing his breath. Too heavy a burden that he himself bears. His fragile soul and mind were like pottery that burned for too long until it was reduced to ashes to the touch. Such is the current state of Arin, sitting limp in front of the door while hugging himself as his mother continues to try to open the door from the outside.
The sound of the phone ringing rang, there was a message coming in making Arin stop crying. His mind was distracted on his cell phone. And it looks like I'm no longer trying to get into her room. Arin took the phone in the bag — his eyes fell silent when he saw a message coming in from an unfamiliar number. The message says,
| Assalamualaikum. I'm Haru Ardiansyah. Can I meet you?
