The Substitute Bride of my Best Friend

The Substitute Bride of my Best Friend
Love as Deep as the Indian Ocean

Zahira justifies her hairdresser who flew due to the wind. That afternoon, when the taxi was almost arrived at his apartment, he asked the driver to take him to a city park in the center of Jakarta. Green trees sway with the wind. Dry leaves that fall on the ground drift as strong winds blow. The clear sky turned gray just like the mood of the beautiful doctor who was currently in turmoil.

The beautiful doctor sat on a park bench, watching the fun-looking koi fish swim to and fro. Slowly, raindrops drenched the earth. The girl fluttered, she let the raindrops drench the entire body.

"Would I never have the chance to be the girl you love? Will our relationship only be friends even though you and I are bound in a bond called marriage?" mumbled while looking straight ahead.

The beautiful oriental-faced girl got up from her seat, then she spread both hands to the right and left sides. Both eyes closed, feeling every drop of rain falling soaked his body. "Lord, please open a little gap for me to be able to stay in Shaka's heart, even if it's only for a moment." His lips spelt out, inwardly pleading with the Creator earnestly.

The longer, the more heavy rain was punctuated by rumbling sounds that sounded mutually unpretentious. The park visitors were busy saving themselves so as not to be hit by rain water, but not for Zahira. He continued to stand with his eyes closed enjoying every drop of water that fell to the earth.

A shadow of the past when he and his twin brothers and Shaka were children flashed through the girl's mind. The four of them seemed so engrossed in playing under the rain. Heedless of the adults' calls asking Triplet and Shaka to stop their actions.

Mengulum smiled at the corner of her slender lips and said, "I miss those times."

Zahira's eyelids opened slowly. Now, his body has been drenched due to the rain. The girl's body began to shiver, feeling the coldness of the rain that penetrated through the bones.

"I'd better go home now before I get sick." That instant Zahira stepped out towards the park entrance, standing by the roadside waiting for a taxi that would take her home to the apartment.

Meanwhile, there was a tall man and the owner of a sharp eye was driving his four-wheeled vehicle. A pair of eyes kept moving to and fro, searching for the whereabouts of someone who had a special place in his heart. Not as a lover let alone a wife but as a friend.

"Ra, where are you anyway? Why go without telling? What if something happens to you, what should I say to our parents?" blurting out while giving a glance out the window. The rainy weather makes visibility limited so he has difficulty finding the whereabouts of the wife.

"Aargh, shit! Where else would I look for Zahira, in the midst of such a torrential rain?" shaka lamented, hitting the steering wheel hard. It was obvious that worry emanated from the look in the man's eyes. "I'd better go home, who knows he's back in the apartment."

Without wasting too much time, Shaka turned around and drove his four-wheeled vehicle towards the apartment building. Stepping on the gas pedal at medium speed. Despite the anxiety of not finding Zahira, he still pays attention to driving safety when it rains.

It only took forty minutes, finally Shaka's car entered the apartment building that lived with his wife. He got out of the car and immediately swung his feet towards the elevator that was available in the basement parking lot.

Along the way, Shaka keeps trying to dial Zahira's number, but there's no response at all. Dozens of messages were never returned by the girl until Rini's youngest child became a club.

"Rb ... The zahira? You're inside?" shaka shouted as he had just arrived at his apartment unit. Looking for a beautiful girl with beautiful marble skin in every corner of the room but never found it everywhere.

The handsome man stood in front of the guest room door, hesitantly deciding whether to enter or not. He just wanted to make sure Zahira was in the room before he finally went into his room and changed his clothes.

"Zahira?" call Shaka slowly. He pushed the door very carefully, not wanting to disturb Zahira who was probably already sleeping.

There was a sigh of relief when Zahira fell asleep facing the window. A thick blanket of pink wrapped around the girl's petite body. Shaka approached and sat on the edge of the bed while gently rubbing the long strands of black hair down. The smell of roses emanated from the black hair.

"Why did you leave the cafe without telling me first? Are you deliberately trying to make me worry about you?" Shaka's burly hands continued to gently rub the strands of Zahira's hair. "You know, Ra, if I'm almost crazy when I don't find you anywhere. I thought you left me just like Ziva ran away on our wedding day."

"I don't know what will happen to me if you really leave my side. Maybe I could go crazy for losing someone meaningful in my life for the second time. So, please, don't repeat the same mistake because I can't afford to lose my best friend" Shaka said with teary eyes. "You're the best friend I've ever had. I'm lucky to be reunited with a good, angel-hearted girl like you, Najma Zahira."

Every strand of sentence uttered from sensual lips endlessly, kept ringing in the ears of a girl. From the first touch of a soft hand touching a strand of hair, he woke up but still maintained his current position, turning his back on the man he loved so much.

Hearing Shaka's words, Zahira's tears flowed down. The girl bit her lips hard, holding back her sobs not to break. He was crying without a sound. Why do you have to say sweet words to make me fly to nirvana if in the end you throw me right then and there? Didn't you realize that every sentence that comes out of your lips hurts my feelings more?

There was a ringing of tightly shut doors, leaving silence in the afternoon. The rumbling sound of lightning is still heard out there even though the rain is not as loud as some time ago. However, the teardrops in the corner of Zahira's eyes were increasingly flowing. In solitude he cried without wanting anyone else to know that the girl was currently injured.

**Seez, until when do I have to stay in this household. However, I hope that before I get really tired and decide to leave your life, you realize that my love for you is so big and as deep as the Indian Ocean.
