Chapter 13
The morning sun still stings gently on the skin. Dozens of Soldiers and City Guards lined up in rows staring at the escapees. The slaves with the heads of the plontos and the five horses stopped looking at the soldiers.
Daedalus' pulse never stopped bleeding, he began to feel the side effects of his demon summoning. Dizziness and lack of blood and weakness begin to feel. He had to stop calling the Devil Slimonoid for his blood to stop coming out—like Toras' blood that stopped coming out when he fell unconscious. However, stopping summoning the Demon Slimonoid in their condition like this was an impossible choice he could take.
Daep's head stopped before their horse. Tael was aghast, he got off the horse and groaned. "Dad!" his yell.
"We have to go, Tael," said Yvonne. He began to move his horse. "unwise against all of them, we could die."
Lupan refuses. "And what about my wife and children?" said. He stared at the dozens of Warriors and City Guards who were holding each of the family members of the slaves hostage. "We just left them?"
"We can't leave Mom, bang!" yell Tael cares. Aurie was agitated in the hands of the Gallam Warrior. "We have to fight!"
Fighting dozens of freshly fit Soldiers with them slaves who were heavily injured as well as less weaponry was not the best path. But Daedalus understood, nor could they turn their backs and leave the others behind.
"You don't bother to discuss it there," said Soldier Gallam, raising his voice. "all you need to know is that if you run away, then we will execute the slaves you left behind."
"No, dad!" A boy from the slaves screams at the hostage gathering. "I'm scared!"
Gallam saw the boy, Ser Gholam brought the boy forward. "Look at this pathetic slave" said the Gallam Warrior. He swept the child's face with fresh blood from Daep's head. The boy cried. "say, which father?"
Lupan jumped off the horse, his hand squeezing hard the sword. "Keep your filthy hands from him!"
"Oh, is that your father?" ask the Gallam Warrior to the boy. He's nodding. Gallam soldiers speak to Ser Gholam and Ser Corvark. "Ser, let's get the family out of the slave and get them on their knees."
Ser Gholam and Ser Corvark. They scoured the hostage crowd and found out the family from Lupan. After they obtained it, the two Knights forced the one family to kneel before. The second sword Knight was close to the head of the Lupan family, as if it was about to execute.
"Don't try!" exclamation Lupan. He stepped forward with furious steps.
"Stop in place!" exclaims Gallam Warrior. He kicked Lupan's wife. "It's not just escape, if you fight, then all the hostages will be executed. It started with this girl."
Lupan was silent on the spot seeing Private Gallam playing with his emotions. He felt trapped in a situation where there was no way out. Escape is the best way than to fight even though his family was executed all. But even if he fought back and hoped to win, he was unsure of their numbers. That if not counted must face off against the swordsman as well as the royal Demon Borrowing Knight, Ser Gholam—the figure he used to know before himself became a slave.
Yvonne cried out from on horseback. "Let's run, Mr. Lupan. We don't have a chance to win."
Gallam soldier shouted back. "You rebellious slaves, put down your weapons and surrender immediately!" He pulled out his sword. "or we'll start executing!"
The rebellious slaves stared at each other in exchange for their worries, but in the end they threw away their weapons and surrendered. The slaves riding horses did the same.
"Don't do that, you'll be killed" Yvonne said worriedly.
A child answered. "Your sister, everything for your life is safe in your hands, Yvonne. But our family was there. If it was our lives that we had to exchange for their lives, we would. You must be the same, Yvonne."
Yvonne fell silent and let them go.
Daedalus felt Tael awaiting his decision. After all the struggles he had put in, did he just have to give up? And he was also worried that if he gave himself up to save his mother, Tael and Riel would be executed along with him, that would mean leaving his mother alone in this world. That's not an option either.
Daedalus decided something. "Soldiers and Knights!" shouted Daedalus. The soldier and the two Knights listened. "I'm going to turn myself in but I need you to promise to spare my two sisters' lives, they're innocent!"
Tael gave her a surprised look, but she chose to be quiet because she could do nothing.
Gallam immediately replied. "I promise to forgive the lives of your two sisters!" "Now, give up."
Daedalus got off the horse and patted both of his sister's shoulders. "We don't deserve to leave our mothers for our personal safety. Whatever happens, we have to be willing to sacrifice for the family."
Tael and Riel nodded.
Daedalus turned his gaze to Yvonne and Yogot riding on horseback. "You two take Toras and leave. Don't look back again."
Yvonne nodded sadly. "This is not true ...."
Yogot said weakly. "I'll take care of Toras."
Then Yvonne helped down Hella, the daughter of Lupan to join her father. However, the Devil Slimonoid Daedalus remained in the horse with them.
"He will protect you until you get out of the city" Daedalus said. The Demon Slimonoid nodded obediently while holding the Palu War.
Then Yvonne, Abel, Yogot, Toras and Devil Slimonoid rode away from there— carrying three horses.
The slaves who surrendered included Daedalus and Lupan— who joined— surrendered themselves. They're lined up to face Gallam Warriors. They're done. They lose. He knelt down, his body no longer shrouded in the power of the Slime Demon because he had given up. Daedalus' head will soon be rolled to the floor of the road. But this was the path he had chosen to save his mother.
The Gallam warrior removed his grip from Aurie and walked towards Daedalus. He plays with his sword. "I waited for the moment I took this revenge, slave!"
Daedalus was ready to receive his reward. But her mother's screams awakened her.
"He will not keep his promise!" Aurie yells. Gallam's soldiers looked at him angrily. "Come on, all of you, get out of here and save yourself. The soldier is the one who breaks the promise. Mr. Daep was also promised the same when he released the soldier but look, Mr. Daep is only the head!"
The slaves who gave up whispered loudly, some began to think to fight back.
"Noisy woman!" Gallam's soldiers growled. He grabbed Aurie. "Can you shut up?"
Aurie in a kicking position********* Gallam Warrior. The man gasped in pain and it gave Aurie time.
"Daedalus, take Tael and Riel away! Protect them! And never go back to this town! Live in a new life!"
Aurie's words opened up a new vision to Daedalus, as if she had just been enlightened.
Gallam soldier in a state of aghast pain slashed Aurie. The mother of Daedalus was slashed and fell. In her last moment Aurie gave Daedalus a meaningful look, as if telling him to run away and leave. But he's not leaving!
Daedalus stopped summoning his Slimonoid Devil, the blood on the pulse in his hand stopped. Then he bit back his pulse and blood soaked the Pomegranate Jewel. He read the same spell.
"I offer you my pulse and blood, I ask you to fight by my side! Fulfill your oath to me, come, Devil Slimonoid!"
Devil Slimonoid appears mighty.
