Chapter 8's
After all the slaves were herded into the Lord's Residence, some people started to go to Istal. Some of them were Yvonne, Daep, Aurie and some other slaves.
“It's good that you helped, Mr. Daep,” said Yvonne. They entered Istal. “ fun you finally decided to help our fellow.”
Daep nodded. “Do you think they'll make it?” ask him on Yvonne.
“Tens against two dozen warriors? I guess they'll make it.” Yvonne said for sure. “Our task now the most important thing is to take off these horses and prepare them for riding.”
“You did not take into account Rouf and Touf who are experienced Knights,” Daep replied. “You know, ‘kan, that they are the winner of the Libbam City tournament two years ago?”
Yvonne nodded. “But Daedalus is also no less resilient.” He's starting to worry. “I'm sure Daedalus can definitely win against them.”
“I also hope so,” Daep said. But hope it won't change the result. “I hope so.”
Then they continued their business. In silence the two of them let go of the horses, then paired the saddle on him. Do not forget also they check whether all horses issued have horse shoes.
Daep picked one horse and took off his shoes. He kept the shoes in his pants pocket. “This one horse lost his shoes,” Daep said. Yvonne paid attention.
“You're right, aren't we wearing this horse?”
“No, he only lost one shoe.” Daep pointed at the corner of Istal. “I know where the rest of the horseshoes are, I'll take them, briefly.”
Yvonne nodded. Daep single-handedly walked to the corner of Istal. He never intended to help Yvonne prepare horses for the escape of the slaves. If their plan fails and Daep is caught helping him, then their family will be executed. Daep had seen massive executions on slaves even before she became a slave of Lord Puqress. That's too risky. His intention here was to release Gallam for the safety of his family—the slaves who survived the mass executions he knew always sided with the employer—but he was not stupid. He needed to confirm a few things first.
Gallam was aware of his presence. Daep took off Gallam's mouthpiece. “Halo, Daep sir,” greet Gallam. “Are you here to free me?”
“Depending,” replied Daep. “I could have stabbed you to death with that celurit.” Daep pointed at a celurit that was displayed on the wall. He has to be threatening. “or I could just let you go, it all depends which is the best way for my family.”
Gallam. “You told me to promise to persuade God to forgive your family?” tanyakanya. Daep nodded. “Include Daedalus?”
“I'm ready to face a difficult choice, son,” said Daep. “and I know my difficult choice was to let Daedalus go. I can't think of a way in which God pardoned Daedalus, who was the designer of this rebellion. But I'm sure, God can forgive the rest of my family, including Tael.”
Gallam chuckles.
“Did you get his horseshoes, Mr Daep?!” asked Yvonne from the middle of the room.
Daep takes a celurit on the wall and she gives Gallam a sharp look. Gallam's next answer won't discourage him. “Your laugh is annoying, son,” he said. “what is the answer of my offer?”
Gallam. “No, no,” he replied. “with all my strength, I will swear to persuade Lord to give you and your family the RIGHT to live—unless Daedalus—asal you release me.”
“Agree.” Daep said without pause. He soon cuts off Gallam's bond with his celurit. It didn't take long, Gallam had come off and he immediately snatched the celurit from Daep's hands. “Remember your promise.”
“Currently, they are doing a rebellion in Lord's Residence,” tell Daep. “if we go now there it may be.”
Gallam nodded and the two of them went to the central room of Istal. Yvonne, who realizes Gallam's escape, immediately retrieves a weapon she can find. He only found a block of wood, another slave followed in his footsteps.
“What the hell is this Mr Daep! You let go of him?!” yvonne. Gallam laughed at his surprised expression. “You should have died in that Old Tower, soldier! But it's okay, I'll kill you right now.”
Gallam laughed loudly. “You should have killed me, but you slaves are the dumbest creatures I have ever known.” Gallam pointed at all the slaves. “Who can bring the head of the slave woman to me, I promise I will ask you to be forgiven for having rebelled.”
Gallam waited, but no slave made his request.
“You're overconfident, soldier,” taunts Yvonne.
“Alright if it wants you guys ..” Gallam took in a deep breath then he took it off in the form of a shout. “PLEASE ME! SLAVE REBELLION! HELP ME!”
Gallam's shout blared like thunder in the morning. So big, so loud that they were sure that his voice would reach all the soldiers or even the city guards around.
“Basic coward!” yvonne Maki. He immediately jumped onto one of the horses. “Everything is running with horses! Run before reinforcements come!”
“Yes, run, run!” Gallam laughed with satisfaction, not realizing that a few tears had fallen to watch Yvonne and the other slaves running around with horses. There were even some slaves who rode the horse and tried to ride it, but fell right away.
Gallam approached the boy. “You don't even know horseback riding, slave base!” He slashed the slave with his whistle and continued to slash, venting his emotions, imagining that he was Daedalus. “You're next!”
Daep and Aurie look at each other, a concern arises in themselves seeing Gallam's attitude.
“Remember your promise, Gallam.” Daep reminded me.
Gallam turned to them. His clothes and clothes were bathed in blood as a result of his slash on the fallen slave. “Yes, yes, my promise. What was my promise?”
Daep is wrathful, but she tries to control herself. “You will help persuade Lord to defend our right to life.”
Gallam slashed forward, Daep could feel his head cut off from his body. But he still has consciousness.
“Ke-kenap—a.” His mouth tried to say something, but his consciousness slowly disappeared.
Before his consciousness disappeared completely, he still heard Aurie's screams of his wife. He could even faintly see his wife being grabbed by Gallam.
“Right to live? Since when do slaves have the right to live!”
Gallam's satisfied laughter and regret accompanied his final breath. Daep has perished.
