The War of the Demon Controllers

The War of the Demon Controllers
Arc 1 Rescues Riel

After leaving Istal, Daedalus's steps were swift and sure, as if he already knew where to go. Toras followed behind.

“Stop, Daedalus, where do we go?” ask Toras.

“Saving Riel.” Daedalus answered without stopping his steps.

Toras was agitated to hear Daedalus' answer, but he kept his pace level. “Both? Forget the number of people, we don't even know where Riel was held.”

“Do you see the old tower in the east?” ask Daedalus. He pointed to the old tower in the east, which had partially collapsed its walls. Toras listen. “Gallam soldiers who brought two more ‘gift’ I know always do guard duty in the old tower. We'll come and ask, once we know where Riel is, then we'll go save her.”

“We need people, Daedalus,” said Toras. “even the Greatest Borrower of Hervarar country did not manage to win the war alone.”

Daedalus borrowed the power of the Demon Slimonoid and turned his hand into a slime. He felt a superior feeling as he borrowed his demonic-power.

“Before I was powerless against Private Gallam, I was even embarrassed if I said I was against him. More precisely it was a one-sided fight.” Daedalus told the truth. “But with the power of this Pomegranate Gem that you showed me, Toras, me and the Slimonoid Devil feel they will win if faced again with him.”

“That's because of martial arts, fighting techniques and even demonic intelligence you can also borrow, Daedalus,” Toras explained. “That Slimonoid Devil that you are holding has evolved into a Devil who is an expert in fighting techniques.”

“And you say this is a Low Devil,” said Daedalus did not expect the power of the Low Devil alone could be that great. He continued his journey to the Old Tower. “I can't imagine the demon in your hand, Toras.”

Toras shook his head in a doldrums. “The devil I hold is very strong, but not with me. Look at me and my face, Daedalus.” Daedalus turned his head and looked at Toras, his steps unstoppable. Toras' face was so white, his gaze was blank and his posture was bent. “I was exhausted, my face was as white as ice in Hervarar and my eyes were unfocused. What I'm afraid is if I'm the only reinforcements you have, I won't be able to help much. We need all slaves and if necessary, we will start a revolution.”

“I definitely won, Toras,” said Daedalus boasting. “you just have to accompany and see.”

Toras sighed. They passed through several slums, a small alley whose street floor was flooded, then slightly uphill to the corner of the east wall. Then they reached the entrance of the Old Tower east of Libbam.

The area is so quiet, the houses there and the residents are mostly filled by refugees who make no difference in their lives with slaves. But today there are no refugees in sight, not even a single creature they hear. Only one voice could be heard by Daedalus and Toras, the laughter of the Gallam Warrior from the top of the Old Tower.

“No sane human being laughs alone, Daedalus.” Toras reminded while coughing. It means Gallam's soldiers are not alone. “Ide invites others does not seem bad. You can take your sister.”

“My sisters are like my father and mother, they choose to be quiet rather than have to help Riel.” The voice was disappointed in Daedalus. “Think Gallam is not alone. Assume there are indeed two people, I believe I can handle two people.”

Daedalus set foot on the steps of the Old Tower and then began his ascent. The only light that greeted him was from the torch lanterns mounted on the walls of the Old Tower. He made the Lentara as his guide looking to further climb the Old Tower with the spiral staircase.

The more steps he climbed, the more laughter Gallam Warrior sounded. His laughter was hoarse and condescending. Daedalus sped up his pace and hastened their replay.

Eventually the two of them had reached the highest point of the tower. An opening greeted him. Daedalus stepped in and found himself facing the sky as well as the vast ocean. Soldier Gallam and his partner were joking on the side of the Tower Roof.

The first to notice his presence was fellow Warrior Gallam—a blond man. He gave the code to Private Gallam. Gallam turned his head and realized the presence of Daedalus before him. He got up from sitting leaving his sword on the floor.

“See who's coming,” said Warrior Gallam. “It looks like you're lost. But it seems you're not. What are you doing here, slave?”

“Tell me where my sister and the slave you brought earlier?” Daedalus said straight to the point.

As Daedalus took a challenging step forward, Gallam accepted his challenge. “I'll teach you a valuable lesson not to underestimate people anymore.”

Gallam laughed again. “I'm the one who will teach you a valuable lesson, slave, you will regret coming to this place. People will pity to hear the story of you who have come to the Old Tower and chose to end your life after your sister was soiled by Lord.”

“Fitness your mouth!” daedalus Maki.

Daedalus begins the assault. He borrowed the power of the Slimonoid Devil and made his fist enveloped in Slime. His fists were as strong as before, but Daedalus' movements were no longer wide. The Gallam soldier dodged and tried to find a gap, but he did not find it and decided to retreat.

“Where did you get that power?” ask Soldier Gallam surprised. Even in the Libbam warriors, only a handful of people had the Pomegranate Gem. “From which Knights did you steal the Pomegranate Gem?”

“This was given, not stolen,” said Daedalus casually. Gallam turned to Toras and he immediately realized something.

However, Daedalus did not give Gallam Soldiers a chance to think. He again threw a second punch, this time starting from a small punch. The Gallam soldier dodged, but he immediately realized that he had made a grave mistake when a huge blow was delivered by Daedalus welcoming towards the direction where the Gallam Warrior dodged.

“You imitated me!” lamented Gallam. “Greg, finish this slave.”

Greg pulled out his sword and joined the battle, but Daedalus borrowed the slime to his feet and made it move faster than usual. Before Greg could pull out the sword, Daedalus struck Greg in the hand and took it from its original owner. He drew his sword at Greg, restraining his movements.

“That's amazing, Daedalus! You actually managed to fight two people,” praise Toras from a distance.

Daedalus was proud of him. He never expected the difference in fighting skills he felt during the duel protecting Riel would be immediately covered when he borrowed power from his Demon Slimonoid.

Daedalus made Greg and Private Gallam kneel before him. The Gallam Warrior Sword was taken over by Toras and they pointed the two swords at Soldiers Gallam and Greg. Daedalus had managed to take control of the situation.

“Now tell me where you got Riel and the other girls?” daedalus asked as the sword pointed towards the neck of the Gallam Warrior. But unlike Greg who panicked, Private Gallam was so calm.

“You think your sister will be fine if Lord finds out you killed us?” said Soldier Gallam. “Your sister's head will roll to the floor if you kill us, slave, then will be followed by your head.”

“I will not kill you,” said Daedalus honestly. “you are a human being who has the right to live. Just like me and my sister. We deserve to live and choose our lives. So tell me where Riel is being held so I can go save her and get out of this city.”

But their conversation can't last long. Anyone on top of the tower can hear the sound of two people talking on the stairs. And they were heard riding it, getting closer and closer.

Daedalus's views were diverted. He looked at the opening of the stairs where they had come before, thinking about who was about to come. Before he could ask or speculate, the Gallam Warrior grabbed the sword from his hand and kicked it away.

Daedalus was pushed back. Toras who saw that slashed down the Gallam Warrior. Gallam's soldiers have been holding swords, they both have swords. But once the pounding of the Gallam Soldier so easily shook the lethargic horses of Toras. Then a series of counterattacks ended with Greg retaking his sword and holding Toras hostage.

In the end two feared figures emerged from the entrance openings. They were both royal warriors just like Gallam warriors. Seeing the strange situation, the two warriors immediately took out their swords and prepared.

“You are right, you will not kill me, Slave,” said Warrior Gallam. “aku will kill you.”
