Any human being, in matters of intention need not be doubted. Intention first, realized later. Good intentions are enough to be the beginning of good actions.
The third day after leaving work, Tini started to get nervous. He has not yet announced his intention to officially resign from karaoke. He just said he wanted to rest for a while, because he needed refreshment. Originally, Tini was just lying on her bed and on the floor of her room.
Same with Boy. The man has resigned from his company and is unemployed. In the morning Boy was out of boarding to apply for a job and by midday, he would be back to boarding.
Boy has been doing that for a week. The supply money is running low. The dishes are also becoming more minimalist. Drinks from the juice, switch to sweet iced tea. Not even getting a work call, he's getting pessimistic.
“Come, eat. I just finished cooking,” Invite Sejah to Tini, Boy, and Asti who sit on the terrace of the room. As for Mak Robin, there is no need to be offered lunch anymore. The woman had been burping many times since half an hour ago.
“I'm so not good gini,” said Tini, standing from his seat to the room Sejah.
“Not good you said, but fast time you stand,” insinuated Mak Robin.
“Stomach needs can get rid of embarrassment, Mak. Than you, Mother. Burp a hundred times, but not sensitive nawarin eat. Should be nawarin, even if just a pleasantries.” Tini pulled the nape of the collar of the sweatshirt Boy was wearing.
“Your hands, Tin!” sergeant Boy, brushed off Tini's hand as he stood up to the colonized room.
“Which could probably talk to you. If I offer, you must go straight into my room to take a plate.” Mak Robin laughed out loud.
“Asik ... come on, eat together. I bought rice with chicken curry,” said Asti, following Boy into the Sejah room with a package in his hand. He deliberately delayed the lunch hour waiting for Dijah to finish cooking so that he could eat together.
“Chicken's journey? So kangen Puput,” muttered Tini in the doorway.
“Who's Soup, Ma'am?” ask Asti.
“Care chicken,” reply Tini kalem. Asti just frowned at Tini's answer.
Asti opened his rice paper in the middle of the floor. Sejah added two rice papers on the right-left of the rice wrap stretched Asti. Then, three bowls of rice were added to the paper.
“I'm actually also embarrassed. Seized Time is what feeds us, Tin. I want to refuse, but I also miss home cooking. It feels like I haven't eaten mom's cooking for a long time.” Boy began to sit cross-legged watching the hand of Sejah who deftly spooned the vegetable lodeh onto the rice.
“This is what it wants, right?” tanya Sejah, put a vegetable bowl, then move an omelet over the rice.
“The Patch, Jah. Watch out spilled,” said Tini, lifting the bowl of sambal and spooning the contents onto the egg. “Wash hands, Boy. From earlier I saw you scratching all the gaps in your body,” Pinta Tini, nudging Boy's shoulder with his shoulder.
“I've washed my hands seven times, Tin. Do not make everyone full because of the horror of your words. Eat the most,” replied Boy.
“Slide by the seat, Boy. Later Colored even squat because of this stretch of your legs. Kan, we all so bad.” Tini patted Boy's feet to shift closer to the edge of the bed.
“From earlier was not tasty—not tasty the same Colored. I just eat, many times said kelen. Just eat quietly,” exclaimed Mak Robin from outside the room.
Asti and Colored giggled. The spoon was then distributed and all heads were lowered on the mound of rice. Their routine begins. Move each other the type of vegetables that are not liked to who likes it.
Eating together, whatever the side dishes and vegetables are somehow always better. Four spoons were located on the crushed rice paper.
Boy inched to the wall parallel to the head of the bed. Asti stayed behind the edge of the bed. Tini lifted the used rice paper and put it in the crackle. Sitting next to Asti. On his shoulder was a towel.
“The time to stay in expensive boarding houses, every meal we all must have coffee. Or drink that's it. Boba-boba kayak that,” said Boy.
“Boba-boba how? Who uses the bullet-bullet starch?” ask Tini.
“That's boba, Tin, his name.” Boy looked at Tini who was poking at a toothpick.
“Samely, from kanji flour. It is expensive in packaging only,” said Tini.
“It feels good, really. The one I didn't like yesterday, it was a V60 type of coffee. Somewhat hook, do not understand the name of the type of coffee what.” Boy took a toothpick on a plastic table.
“Not to snitch V60—V60, boba—boba, what is it? Our class, well, it's just right in the ice pop. Isn't that right, Jah?” Tini looked at the nodding Dijah.
“Iya, really. You guys still here? I want to take a shower,” said Sejah rising from his seat.
“Where are you going?” ask Tini.
“Not going anywhere, Tin. Let's seem busy,” replied Sejah out of the room.
Most days like that are what they pass at the chicken coop boarding. Boy was unemployed for almost two weeks and hitchhiked with Dijah. The supply money is thinning, but able to survive and successfully not ask to the village.
The following week Boy was accepted to work at another cosmetics company. The motor is still able to be maintained and does not float to the used motor showroom. In return for his cultivation in Colonized, Boy often bought Dul snacks.
Tini is not out of karaoke yet. He was busy sending his brothers money. Tini has been working in karaoke for over two years. In that place he was a respected senior. His job is getting easier. He does not need to be too busy serving male guests looking for drinking friends. It only regulates which woman accompanies whom.
The results of multiplication and calculations have not entered into the appropriate budget. For the cost alone he needs 500 thousand a month. Not including food, personal needs and transportation. He does not want to work in vain.
Until one day, a guest offered him work as a SPG Cigarette whose packaging was bright red. For some reason, Tini was interested in trying it. The initial requirements to work there are not difficult. Tini only had to sell twenty packs of cigarettes during her training. This job can be done over the weekend. This means that he can still come to karaoke on a normal day to look for extras.
Then, come that afternoon.
Robin had been schooled by his mother at a Kindergarten near the boarding house and every night quarreled over the boy's missing stationery. Although Mr. Robin has not been able to go home often, at least Mamak Robin can let go of longing with her husband twice a month. That was enough to relieve the residents of the first floor chicken coop, because Mak Robin who often urgently misses her husband.
Asti has entered its final year on campus. The girl later looks moody, because the man she has been dating in recent months often avoids for no definite reason. Repeatedly Tini said that the young man had another lover, but it seems Asti still reneges on reality.
Boy is planning to start his business. Later he often rode a motorcycle around looking for a potential place to open his business.
Sejah is still scavenging and at night still working as a beverage delivery in a dimly-lit cafe.
Sunny afternoon, the hot sun is still felt even though the light has since sunk in the western horizon. Tini just finished getting ready to go to karaoke. From outside the door, he heard the sound of a motorcycle stopping.
It's not a motorcycle boy. Because the sound is different. Also definitely not the sound of motor-motor ojek that is always boarded Gatot who usually stops almost always enter Tini's room. After starting lipstick, Tini immediately put on her shoes.
Mak Robin's voice with his trademark always blaring is heard talking to someone. From what the woman said, it was certain that she was talking to Dijah.
Colored just got home, and the woman must have been battered again. Since noon, Tini has not seen her best friend back after scavenging. Usually, if the colon does not reveal the trunk of his nose during the day, the woman visits his child.
Tini put her foot out and locked the door. True as he expected, Sejah returned home in a battered face. Who else would have done it if not Fredy, his friend's ex-husband.
“Tin! Where you going? Ko look at this first friend you already fret (babak belur) his face!” mak Robin called Tini.
Tini approached Dijah with shoes that were so high, making him have to limp to avoid small rocks in the yard.
“Yes, Jah. How do you think about gini again? I will go home from work and treat it. Now not as perfect as I've been waiting for,” said Tini slightly raised chin Sejah.
“Where do you want to go afternoon-afternoon gini?” ask Robin to Tini.
“Then, Mak. Kan, there's no way I'm working at this hour,” replied Tini.
“Gosh .... “ Sounded the man who since his presence was ignored by Tini.
“I go first, you don't have to work Jah!” add Tini while walking away. “Eh, Jesus! Who is this?” Tini asked about the figure of the man on the big bike in red.
“Who? Ojeks! It's Ojek!” exclamation Sejah grimaced.
“Astaga ...,” gumam pria itu lagi saat Tini mendekatinya. Pria itu sedikit mundur dan menggeleng-gelengkan kepalanya. Entah siapa pria yang mengantarkan Dijah hari itu, yang jelas menurut Tini, pria itu ganteng dan bertubuh bagus.
Tini never expected, that day was where all the boring life in the chicken coop, finally found a bright spot.
That afternoon, it was the last time Tini had seen her being battered by her husband's hand.
