Ratih asked nothing about the incident. I who had started to calm down hoped to close my eyes again and continue to sleep considering the day was still late at night.
"Sik, let's go to bed" I told Ratih who had just returned from the kitchen.
"Yes, Mas. Mas Hadi just sleep first. Ratih is not sleepy anymore." he replied gently.
He doesn't talk anymore. All I saw was that he was busy styling his long unraveling hair. Shortly after, Ratih went out of the room and did not know where to go.
"Ah, maybe she'll go to the bathroom." I thought.
I pulled out the blanket and covered it up. Trying to close your eyes and go back to sleep.
"Nina bobo..ooohhh...nina bobo.. otherwise bobo in the bite of a mosquito."
Instantly my eyes opened and came back refreshed when faintly heard the voice of a woman singing the song nina bobo. My mind floated, as I remembered there were no neighbors who had babies around the house. Even the distance from our neighbor's house was not too close. The back of the house was still blocked by the yard where I had seen the creepy baby figure. The right and left are the same. There are still some yards owned by neighbors, although not wide, but impossible if the sound of neighbors who cuddle children will be heard to reach our homes.
"Boboklah dear..boboklah dear.." again, the song really makes my hair stand up. The woman's soft, seductive voice was indeed capable of hypnotizing anyone who heard it. Let alone the baby, I myself will also fall asleep if sung a song with a melodious voice like that. But the problem is, who's midnight like this singing nina bobo songs around the house. The curiosity forced me to move on and look for the source of the sound. I intend to ask my wife Ratih, who knows she heard it too.
And sure enough, I didn't even realize that Ratih hadn't come back yet.
"Dik." call me shrewd. I searched the entire room because it turned out to be Ratih and was in the bathroom.
"Dik." again, I called that name. But there's also no answer. Sepi, that's the mood tonight.
"Mahaha ..."
I stopped at the kitchen door. Why didn't I realize to look for Ratih in the back of the house. Of course it's the only place I haven't been. Given what happened earlier, I don't think Ratih would go out at all these nights.
I just watched the figure from the door. From the posture I saw it was indeed Ratih. It's just, what he's doing these nights here.
"Sir." I slowly approached him.
"Mas." Train turned towards me. That smile, reminded me of the creepy figure I discovered these past few times.
"Mas, here" said Ratih as he walked closer towards me. His hand seemed to be holding something.
"Look, funny, right?" ratih said with a smile looking at the figure of the baby in her carrier.
"Whose baby is this, brother?"
"Our baby, Mas." said Ratih sparkling. I looked carefully at the baby. It looks normal like a baby in general. Even his face was not as scary as what I saw.
"Where did you meet this boy?" I'm getting curious. After all, where there's a baby alone outside the house with no one with him.
"I don't know, Mom. Suddenly this boy approached me. How about we just take care of this kid, Mom?" pinta Ratih with a pleading gaze. It is my wish to refuse his request, after all this child is not clear of his origin. What if it's a trap, or a child separated from his parents. We could be accused of abducting this child and hiding it. Especially if it turns out this child, the devil.
"Aaarrkkhhh.." My brain can't think clearly. I just rubbed my hair rough which was tangled.
"Mas, pity him." pinta Ratih said. I can't bear to see him sulking like that. Even Ratih looked very happy when holding the baby who looked comfortable and fell asleep in the arms of my wife Ratih.
"Alright, Sister. But tomorrow we'll have to report to the village if we find a baby."
Train smiling with excitement. Even with her carefree spirit she brought the baby in without caring for me anymore who honestly still hesitated with my current decision to bring the baby into the house.
