Chapter 07: The Simple City
The next peaceful morning after I washed my face in a stream of clear flowing water, I glanced towards Valentine who was standing while protecting himself from the blinding sunlight.
Maybe it's summer now until the air is really hot.
I picked up my sword that I had placed on the grass before walking Valentine out of the forest, on the way we accidentally ran into a merchant who wanted to give us a ride to a nearby town
"Thank you uncle."
"No problem, take care of yourself."
I bowed low to the uncle until he continued on his own journey.
The city we visited was just a small town with each building still made of wood that could be found in the forest. Nevertheless, the medieval atmosphere still feels thick here.
As the two of us walked down the city street, countless people were just sitting with gloomy expressions as if their lives had been taken completely.
One of the little boys stopped me by asking for money, unfortunately I won't be able to give him anything especially the people around him also watching.
If I give it to him they will attack this boy to take away the money I gave him.
It's something that can't happen.
"I can't give you anything, but I will try to change the state of the city."
The little boy nodded in agreement and continued walking towards his mother and sister who were sitting across the street.
"It's terrible, what's going on in this town? The question comes from Valentine who is answered by Rion in the form of his sword.

"Don't be so pessimistic, you can still survive protecting this city together."
"You don't understand, the army of the Northern demon king is very strong.I heard that the Water capital has been taken over by them, this is all the fault of the Evil Goddess Rion... if he disappeared after taking everything out, this wouldn't have happened."

With the money I still have we can only rent one room in a simple inn, I let Valentine lie with Rion in his elven form on the bed while I leaned against his wall while watching the window that displayed the blue sky.
"If this inn is ugly, at least they have a soft bed."
"Sorry, I can't rent a fancy room for you two."
"It's disappointing."
"I don't want to hear it from you."
Rion threw her face aside until Valentine smiled wryly.
"Calm down you two, the important thing is we don't sleep outside.. Are you sure you're going to sleep there Lion?"
"I have no problem sleeping anywhere" I replied as I removed the mask on my face.
Except when the three of us I'll always wear this mask.
I had no interest in having a Harem life or a perverted life, all I wanted was a non-boring life that was completely different from my previous world.
