“Aleya...” Yong Nam said as he realized which way San Hyuk's eyes were headed.
“Ha?”
“The name of the girl who stole your attention was!”
“Ah..”
“She must also be in the night of familiarity because she's the new kid.” Yong Nam added information to San Hyuk.
“Where do you know that much? You know him?”
“Which I might know him!” Yong Nam pulled San Hyuk over to speak as he walked out of the campus. They have been standing in the middle of the road for too long and make other people have trouble passing both of them, “all men are the same, they can not ignore beautiful girls right?”
San Hyuk could only agree to Yong Nam's sentence. He did not deny that fact considering that he himself was also fascinated by the aura emitted by the figure of Aleya. He felt a strange tremor in his chest as the girl walked past him. It was like there was an energy pulling strings in the silent space on his chest. The single voice slowly clang and its tremors spread throughout the pulse through his bloodstream. San Hyuk feels something called falling in love at first sight.
“Where? You want to come, right?” Yong Nam again seduced San Hyuk as soon as he saw the strange glow in his best friend's eyes. He must have managed to convince San Hyuk to join because the study-crazy friend found another motivation to have fun.
“Good..”.
“Yes!” as Yong Nam expected, he easily invited San Hyuk to join him. There was no bad intention in Yong Nam's invitation. He purely wanted to spend that night of familiarity with San Hyuk. But he also did not deny that San Hyuk was a man who attracted the attention of many women. In addition to his good looks, San Hyuk is also famous for being kind and mature. This fact makes San Hyuk easily liked in addition to his personal who seemed embarrassed and quiet.
San Hyuk himself felt guilty because his participation was not purely caused by Yong Nam's invitation. He wanted to see the girl again and confirm his feelings once again. He does not want to be trapped in the uncertainty that will interfere with the learning process. Not because San Hyuk was crazy to learn as the people said but because he was aware of his shortcomings and his lag. San Hyuk only needed to learn harder than anyone else to fill the void he had left two years ago.
Sure enough, that weekend San Hyuk took part in the evening activities of familiarity held by his faculty. They rented a meat restaurant and ordered whatever food and drink they wanted. The tables were already divided into small groups as soon as San Hyuk entered the restaurant. His eyes instantly scanned one by one the unfamiliar faces in front of him until his eyes caught Aleya's howl. His heart again sent a loud SOS signal to his brain.
“San Hyuk!” shouted his classmate first, Dong Suk, “here, sit here!”
San Hyuk could not ignore his friend's offer and sat down beside him. He was forced to sit quite far away from Aleya although the distance of his hearing and gaze still reached the whereabouts of the girl. He restrained himself and began to join the chatter of his old colleagues. He could not escape the nostalgia he missed.
“Come on, drink one glass only! Don't you know that not drinking the drink you were given is disrespectful?” san Hyuk's ears caught a torch beside his desk. His eyes immediately fell on Aleya who was still smiling politely while holding a single glass of soju in her hand. Aleya obviously did not want to drink that alcoholic beverage. Although his face was smiling, he tried to endure his discomfort when forced like that.
“I did not intentionally not behave politely as Seonbae said, but I should not drink it, not can not.” explained Aleya although with a Seoul accent that is not too smooth.
“Why? Would you die if you drank it, huh?” senior Aleya grew impatient and felt humiliated by Aleya's refusal. He had never been ignored like that let alone by his juniors.
“Yes, you can say that. In any case, I can not drink it.” Aleya still persists with her principles. Besides he is not allowed to drink alcohol, it is also not part of the culture he grew up in. He felt uncomfortable in this complicated situation.
“Why? You ill? Or you're pregnant!” the senior began to raise his voice, making others turn their heads and feel uncomfortable as a result of his actions.
“I..”
“Pacify yourself Tae Kwan-ah. I'll be his dark horse. If that's not going to be a problem, then?” San Hyuk had already moved to sit beside Aleya. He snatched the glass from Aleya's hand and directly looked at it in one gulp.
“You...” Tae Kwan was surprised to see the figure of San Hyuk, “Seonbae! When is Seonbae back!” Tae Kwan changes his greeting once he realizes who is now sitting between him and Aleya. Although San Hyuk spoils his mood, Tae Kwan cannot fight back and banish San Hyuk at will. The man was a first-rate brother of the generation above him.
“Before long..” San Hyuk distracts Tae Kwan by asking him to talk. On the sidelines of his busy life, he quietly placed an empty glass in front of Aleya and filled it with mineral water before sitting there.
“Thank you, Seonbae..” Aleya is not an unresponsive person with San Hyuk's attitude. Although the man did not ask him to speak at all, San Hyuk indirectly helped him. He always refilled Aleya's glass with water as soon as it was almost finished. It was none other than to save Aleya from the offer to drink the soju that was continuously given to her.
“No problem..” San Hyuk can finally pay close attention to Aleya's face. Finally San Hyuk could see Aleya's face that close. He deliberately did not invite his junior to speak even though he sat right next to him during the banquet. San Hyuk did not want to make Aleya uncomfortable with her existence.
“Aleya...” Unknowingly he reached out his hand to get San Hyuk acquainted. Aleya introduced herself once the atmosphere around her was already quite conducive. Most of them left the dining room. There are only a few people left.
“Shin San Hyuk,” San Hyuk received Aleya's helping hand happily, he didn't even expect that he would be able to hold Aleya's hand that quickly. Maybe this is his country's way of getting other people acquainted.
“What is Seonbae okay?” Aleya hesitantly asked as San Hyuk did not let go of his hand. Not without reason Aleya asked. He saw his senior drinking so many glasses of soju offered to him.
“Nothing,” with disappointment San Hyuk let go of Aleya's hand, “where is your home? Can you go home by yourself?”
“Yes, I'm fine thanks, Seonbae.”
“Then be careful, see you on campus.” San Hyuk ended his friendship with Aleya before he was completely drunk. He did not want to make Aleya uncomfortable. Although the tolerance level for alcohol is quite high, San Hyuk chose to avoid unnecessary things. He wanted to get to know Aleya better and leave a good impression on the girl.
