Cursed Thrones
Chapter 18 - The Unknown Soul

A moment after Brian shook the hand of the mysterious figure, which was not even visible to the real body....

The whole world felt a strong shockwave.

The waves spread very quickly and made anyone with a high enough soul sensitivity aware.

It doesn't damage anything in this world, but it makes anyone strong enough to notice this strange wave.

In the Imperial Capital of Luvelia, the same thing happened.

The twelve holy command commanders immediately ran towards the throne room. Facing the emperor to report this strange phenomenon.

"Your highness.... Just now...."

Calmly, the Emperor raised his right hand. Ask them all to be quiet.

"You feel it too? Even my fur stood up. What the hell is going on?" the Emperor Starrus von Luvelia said with a big smile on his face.

His eyes were wide open, staring into the distance. Trying to figure out what really happened. His mind was spinning very fast.

Not long after that....

"Your Majesty?" aeryn asked confusedly. It was only the first time the main commander as a demon hunter had seen such a wide smile on the Emperor's face.

"Haha! Ahahaha!!"

Suddenly, Emperor Starrus laughed out loud. His right hand was also seen hitting his throne many times strongly.

"Your Majesty?! What the hell is going on?! Has Demon King Hecate just been resurrected?!" ask the commander of the other holy orders.

Hearing that question, Emperor Starrus slowly began to stop laughing. But that wide smile was still firmly fixed on his face.

"Aah, no. In front of him, even Hecate was just a useless chess piece."

Everyone was stunned after hearing the Emperor's statement. Their eyes are wide. Some even opened their mouths wide, but were unable to speak.

"He-Hecate is just a useless piece?"

Aeryn who was silent from earlier tried to think hard. And finally, there was only one answer left.

"Your Majesty, I'm sorry for my sassness but.... Don't say one of the ancient gods...."

Emperor Starrus shook his head with a smile.

"As we know, the age of the gods has passed. Everything has been destroyed without rest. And if there is, only their relics are relics.

Just like the scriptures of the Goddess of Light that endow anyone with holy power. Right, just like you and the heroes. But this....

I don't think anyone realized that the relic was still left" explained the Emperor at length.

Even so, no one could understand what it meant. Because such information was quite confidential by the empire.

After a while, Emperor Starrus continued his words.

"Book of the Goddess of Light, chapter 6 - Destruction, paragraph 21. 'And when the day came when everything was destroyed by the eternal battle of the gods, He came to fix everything as if it had never happened.

As the only one of us who shunned the bloodshed for the safety of this world.' In other words...."

......***......

A few moments before....

In front of Brian, everything seemed to be attracted by a mysterious power that was incomparable.

Blood pouring from Cecilia's neck seemed drawn back into her body. Not long after, Cecilia's body was seen being thrown into the air.

Or rather, it looks to float back towards the hands of some Goblin carrying it.

After that, the head of the figure of the old woman who had been destroyed by the mace was again arranged as if all that had never happened. Similarly, the cudgel moved further away from the old woman's head.

The longer, the faster the movement occurs. Brian's gaze became blurred over what was before him. Where the light moved to and fro so quickly, blinding his gaze for a moment.

And suddenly....

"Brian! What the hell are you doing?! Hurry up and save the citizens while I distract them!"

In front of him, there was a figure of Cecilia who was still fresh fit. There were no injuries on his body. Even his voice was still filled with spirit.

"It's.... This a dream?"

'Plak!'

"You're stupid?! Quickly hide!" cecilia shouted after slapping Brian's face hard.

A moment before Cecilia ran away, Brian quickly clasped her hand. To hold him to go.

"What the...."

Cecilia's words immediately came to a halt after seeing the unfavourable expression from Brian's face. An expression filled with confusion, as well as sadness.

'Bruuck! Bruukk! Bruukk!'

The Goblins are seen trying to chase after Cecilia, who they think has run away from the village. But in reality, Cecilia was just quiet in place.

Hiding behind a wall devoured by a burning fire.

"Brian, you...."

'Braa!!'

Suddenly, a piece of wood from the building collapsed.

"Revelation!"

After shouting, Brian immediately pushed Cecilia's body away from the ruins of the wooden building.

The collapse of part of the wooden building brought a fire that burned part of Brian's body standing underneath.

But from behind that pile of wood and fire, Brian got up and walked out as if he had no pain.

"Brian, are you okay?" cecilia asked with worry on her face.

"No problem.... More importantly...."

"What's so weird, why don't I see it?" cecilia was confused.

"What do you mean?"

With his eyes wide open, he looked at Brian who was still putting out the fire in his body.

"I can't see this building collapsing, and.... Why can't I see the future again?"

Cecilia's question was answered in Brian's heart. With just one simple sentence uttered by the mysterious figure before.

'Protect my eyes.... Her.... Who is he really?'

Not wanting to prolong things, Brian immediately pulled Cecilia away. Stay away from the burned-out village.

"Wait on! Not saving them?"

"If you do that, what awaits us both is death. Their numbers are too many, their leaders are also quite ingenious." replied Brian who kept pulling Cecilia's hand to go away.

"Well, I don't have a problem with that. But.... What about those two old men? Are you sure you're gonna leave him?" cecilia asked with a face that was trying to be tough.

Even though Brian himself knew, behind that face was a stifled sadness.

Brian's footsteps stopped.

He remembered the figure of two old men who had been very kind to him and also Cecilia.

Leaving them to die at the hands of those Goblins....

"Sad...."

Brian stopped stepping, turning his body to look at the village in the distance that had sunk into a sea of burning flames.

A sea of fire that illuminates the dark sky at night.

Occasionally, the cries of the citizens could be heard faintly from the village square. Every time he heard it, Brian's heart was getting sliced.

And maybe.... Also getting harder.

Should He risk his life to face perhaps a hundred Goblins behind the heat of the embers? For the sake of a group of people he had only known for one day?

Or should he run away with Cecilia to fulfill the request of the mysterious figure?

Leaving everything in despair?

His breathing became heavier. His heart rate also became increasingly tight.

Every second that passed, it was possible that one life had been lost.

There's not much time to think. But in a choice like this, no matter how much time you have will never be enough to determine the right answer.

Until finally....

"Aarrrgghh!!! Goddamnit! Stupid shit with whoever you are! But I'll still save them!" brian shouted so loudly.

A wide smile was immediately painted on Cecilia's face after hearing that shout.

"You sure?!" cecilia asked excitedly.

"Yes! Are you ready to die for all this?!"

With a look that seemed to be filled with pride, Cecilia replied.

"Of course."
