Upon his return in this small town of Grenary region, everything had changed completely.
From underground, purplish light seemed to illuminate the darkness of the night today. The light moved here and there like a thin cloth blown by the wind.
Brian and Cecilia, who saw the townspeople in a panic, began to get confused over what they should do.
"What the fuck?!"
"Demon attack?! Where are the holy orders?!"
"Mama! Where's mama?!"
The chaos was really felt on the entire side of this small town. The guard soldiers who were only wearing makeshift equipment, seemed to be trying hard to evacuate the residents of this small town.
Including also, the other adventurers who had previously survived the unilateral massacre.
"Brian, aren't they." said Cecilia pointing towards the distance.
"They're Ronald's adventurer group? They survived?" asked Brian in surprise.
But from their current behavior, it seems that they no longer have the rest of their strength or mentality to survive. And try to run as hard as you can to leave this city.
When Brian looked back, in the distance was seen the figure of the Devil was casting a spell. His body was surrounded by a lot of purplish light and also writing with strange letters.
"You know what magic this is?" brian asked Cecilia while pointing to the ground.
Cecilia just shook her head. Not knowing the slightest clue as to what was going on.
"The devil's magic is one of the most ancient magic, I can't even read the writing." Cecilia replied pointing towards the figure of the Devil. "But one thing, I'm sure it will kill us all here" he continued.
Given the power of the demon, Brian agreed. This magic would most likely be able to kill everything that was still in this place.
It's just....
"Run away! You only have 5 minutes!"
Once again, Orlog's voice was clearly heard inside Brian's body.
"It was one of the ancient magic of the Devil nation, Restravvan. A magic to harvest souls. Anyone in her magic circle will just die." continued Orlog.
'Deg! The deg!'
Brian's heart instantly beat very fast. He looked in all directions, and just realized it.
"You're kidding me.... Isn't this magic coverage.... Reaching the entire territory in this city? Even more extensive?!" brian told himself.
In the distance, he could see a pseudo-wall formed from purplish light. It forms a giant circle that covers almost the entirety of Grenary.
"Then from that. Run now! There's no guarantee you'll survive if you wait any longer!"
Brian could only fall to the ground, with both of his knees as a pedestal.
Cecilia who saw him immediately helped Brian to stand up, but....
"Brian? What's up?"
"Haha.... We're gonna die.... We all...."
Brian laughed lightly while looking at the residents who were still trying to leave this city.
Some are separated from their families, and some others seem reluctant to part with the house they have long built.
But one thing in common, they won't all be fast enough to leave the coverage of this magic.
There's not a single one.
Even Brian himself was not convinced that he and Cecilia could leave the Grenary region in less than five minutes.
Thousands, perhaps tens of thousands of people would die behind them. With despair enveloping all of their souls.
"Stupid! Get up and run! I don't want my hard-earned soul to rise again to perish!" yelled Orlog in Brian's heart.
But Brian didn't care. His eyes were fixed on the figure of a little girl crying in the distance.
Falling on the ground, can only scream and cry in search of his family who has gone missing. Lost in a crowd of humans jostling to escape this.
"Yamaah!!! Mamaaay!!!"
Every now and then, an adult's footsteps kicked at his small body. Throwing him, getting stepped on and getting hurt.
No longer able to see it, Brian immediately got up. Run towards him and save the girl.
"Relax, you'll help you find your mother" Brian said with a friendly smile, blocking the footsteps of the townspeople from injuring her once more.
Without a word, the girl could only continue crying while hugging Brian's body. It was clearly visible the wounds and blood flowing from the little girl's body.
In the distance, Cecilia was seen following towards him.
"What did her parents do?! Leaving their child like this?!" cecilia complained with emotion.
But nevertheless....
'Sruugg!!!'
Brian handed the little girl over to Cecilia, giving an expression he never showed.
A facial expression with a thin smile, as well as glazed eyes.
"Run, and leave the city. Find his mother." Brian said briefly.
"Huh?! How's your?!"
Brian immediately turned his body, staring at the demonic figure who was still continuing to cast his spell.
Now, there are several circles surrounding his body with strange writing. The number is increasing with time.
"You once taught me that magic requires a strong focus. If the user's focus is compromised, the magic can be void, right?" brian said as he pulled the sword on his left waist.
Realizing what Brian meant, Cecilia's eyes opened wide. Can't believe what his closest friend might do.
"Brian.... Don't tell me you.." Cecilia replied as she continued to tightly hug the little girl.
"I'm going to bother him, so everyone has enough time to escape. So please...."
"No! I painstakingly called you from another world to accompany me! I'm not gonna let you die! L'm.... I won't know what...."
"sorry. But I trust you with the rest." Brian replied briefly.
With that reply, Brian no longer listened to Cecilia's chatter and immediately ran. Heading towards the figure of the Devil who was still busy chanting the spell.
Leaving Cecilia alone in the crowd of this city. Together with the little girl who still kept crying in his arms.
"I.... I wouldn't know what I'd do next, without you.." Cecilia continued.
He could only hope, the sentence with a soft voice was conveyed to his partner. Hoping that with that sentence, Brian would stop stepping his feet toward death itself.
Then turn around to run with him. But in reality, it's too late.
The only thing Cecilia can do to appreciate Brian's sacrifice, is to make sure she and the little girl are safe.
With tears constantly drenching her cheeks, Cecilia immediately turned around and ran as fast as she could.
Leaving the city soon, will be an altar offering to the Devil. By sacrificing all living things in it.
